The main floor is fully handicap accessible with a ramp that leads to the front of the house. The main floor has a full equipped kitchen, living room and dining room (table extends from 4' circle to 10' oblong) combination. The bathroom has a handicap toilet, sink & 5' tiled shower. 2 bedrooms on main floor & family or play room and bedroom upstairs. Fire pit in backyard and patio with gas grill.

About Alan and Machelle Lampela

We are born and raised in Two Harbors. We owned Al's Bait & Tackle in Two Harbors from 1994 to 2007. Our experience from that business in addition to our travels & staying in vacation rentals helps us to know the things that we appreciated in a vacation home. Alan will be happy to share info on local fishing areas and what you might need to catch fish right off the breakwater (less than 1 mile away). We are grandparents so our home has a great play area in the upstairs family room. Our backyard has swings & sandbox & a play fort. We have a nice fire pit (free wood included) & patio with a gas grill with tables & chairs. We live on the same property so we can help with questions on where to eat, what to see & when & address your needs in a timely manner.

We have chosen the name Diamond Willow Vacation Home as Alan spends much of his recreational time finding and sitting around the fire pit and peeling diamond willow to make lamps and furniture. Some of which you will see in our home when you stay.

When you are here Alan will be happy to show you how to peel a walking stick if you are interested.

Why Alan and Machelle Lampela chose Two Harbors

We originally purchased this home so that we could expand our bait business building. The home has been rented off and on during the last 12 yrs. We have lived in the home for the last 7 years. We decided that it would be fun to meet new people that stay at our vacation home. You will find a nice big back yard and often see deer in our backyard.

What makes this house unique

We love the home because it is truly a family home. The handicap accessibility is a nice feature & once you are in the home there are 36" doorways to all the main floor rooms & a full handicapped bathroom is great. The upstairs family room (Grandma's Attic) has a table & chairs for a girls crafting weekend or coloring or doing a jigsaw puzzle. We also have set up the upstairs for watching movies. There is a great play area for the younger children geared to ages 2 to 8.

Great Winter location for snowmobiling and exploring the Superior Hiking Trail and Gooseberry Falls. If you are looking for a place to stay while snowmobiling on the North Shore you will love the convenience of this home. We are less than 1/2 block to Kwik Trip for gas refills or for your coffee and donuts. The corridor out of Two Harbors is right next to the house. The back yard is big enough for your snowmobiles. The parking lot is huge for your vehicles and trailers. Carmody's 61 Bar and Restaurant is less than 1/2 block from the house.

We offer to make a meal of your choosing prepared in your kitchen. Ask about menus and cost. Need some fishing tips. We owned a bait shop and Alan can tell you where and how to fish. Don't know how to clean the fish you caught. Alan can either show you how or do it for you. This would made a great place for scrap book and crafting weekend. Let us know how much space you will need and we can set it up in the family with tables. We use all natural cleaning products in the house and in washing of bedding and towels. The house is cleaned with a good hypo allergic vacuum. We do not use candles or plug in freshners.

Homey and convienent

This place was a great home base for us to explore the hiking and parks around the north shore. The place has a very homey feel to it, where it feels like someones home and not just a place that is rented out. I only had a brief interaction with Machelle but it was nothing but positive. It feels like the owners truly want you to enjoy yourself here!! Check in was a breeze and good communication.

Very nice Stay

Came up to Two Harbors to snowmobile with some friends. The house was very nice on the inside. Everything you would need is in the house. Like plenty of TP. One of my pet peeves when you pay a lot to stay and they leave you one roll. Note to other VRBO/Home away owners. Lack of TP gives you a highest rating of 3. These owners were great taking care of the comforts you need. Very nice shower/bathroom. Comfy beds. Outside was plenty of room to park multiple trailers and cars. Easy location to get in and out. Right on the snowmobile trail. Good bar and Grill next door. Convenient to get gas next door. I would stay here again for sure. Keep the snow coming. In fact we got snowed in and the owners let us add another night to our stay and made it easy.

Cozy Two Harbors Cottage

We booked this home for a quick North Shore weekend getaway to visit the Bentleyville lights display in Duluth. This house was perfect for us: very cozy, well-maintained, and many amenities. My son absolutely loved the upstairs playroom that was well-stocked with toys, games, arts & crafts, and classic movies. Location right on Hwy 61 was very convenient, close to grocery store and several restaurants (don't miss Scenic Cafe), also about 30 minutes to Duluth and 15 to Gooseberry Falls. Was also a nice touch to have access to Roku in the main living room for Netflix, Hulu, etc. Thanks Machelle and Al for a great stay! Will be back this summer!

Our vacation home is located in the city of Two Harbors MN. We are walking distance from great restaurants, grocery store and gift shopping. We are less than a mile from Burlington Bay and Agate Bay and the Breakwater. The home is across the street from the snowmobile corridor from Two Harbors to the North Shore Trail. Spend the day snowmobiling and come back to relax at home or walk to a great restaurant(s) or bar(s). There is plenty of off street parking for your snowmobile(s) and trailer(s). We use to own a bait shop so we can help with where to fish in the area and as a service can clean your fish. We also can help provide you with info on Lake Superior charter fishing. There is parking for your boat and trailer should you want to bring your own boat.
