About Rod Larkin

This cabin was built in 1963 and has been in our family since 1970. We moved to Grayling in 2010 and we live less than 10 minutes from our cabin. We love living in the Grayling area and especially on the Au Sable River. This is God's Country for sure!

Rod Larkin purchased this cabin in 1970

Why Rod Larkin chose Grayling

My parents bought this property when I was 13 years old and I've been spending time here for 47 years and counting. I purchased this property from my parents in 1986.

The Grayling area has so much to offer from pristine rivers and lakes to Hartwick Pines, endless miles of hiking and ORV trails. It's a great place to stay and a great place to play!

What makes this cabin unique

Our little log cabin is nothing fancy so if you are looking for a posh resort-- keep looking. We cater to people who want to get away from it all. We cater to families with kids and pets. We cater to sportsman who love to fish and hunt. People come here and return here more for the outdoors and all it has to offer more than the indoors.

With both the Au Sable and Manistee river systems in the Grayling area-- it's a fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking, float tubing meca!

Everyone who stays with us says-- "You have thought of everything we might need or want to have during our stay." We love helping people make great memories Up North!

We offer all this at a price that's hard to beat-- less than just about any motel/hotel overnight price you'll find.

Cabin In The Woods

  • 5 of 5

Had a great second trip to the Lark Inn. We enjoy the natural beauty & peaceful setting and Rod has always been a terrific host & source of local information. The pictures and description of the cabin and setting is very accurate & everything is as presented. We hope to back next year.

Cabin is quite cozy just as described but the area exceeded expectation.

  • 5 of 5

Cabin while being small on footprint was quite adequate for 4 men on a hunting trip. It is clean and very well stocked with most everything you will need.

The property is tucked away in a quiet setting. The yard is large with many amenities from a large Fire Pit (with all the wood you could need) to horseshoe pits!

The surrounding area has so much to offer an outdoors person with thousands of acres of state/federal lands across the private road and the beautiful AuSable River just a short walk to the north. Hiking, bike riding, fishing, hunting, kayakin, canoeing, you name it!

The owner, Rod, was prompt to answer questions and lives nearby so meeting him at the cabin was easy. Thx Rod!

We certainly enjoyed our stay and I recommend you check it out too!

Perfect spot for rest and relaxation for a family getaway in the woods and close to the river!

  • 5 of 5

This cozy cabin was perfect for our family weekend! We just brought our cooler and the rest was already for us! Rod even had the wood and kindling for us to make our bonfire! We really enjoyed strolling in the woods and walking down to the river! Thanks for for letting us bring our dog! He loved the yard and was entertained by all the sights and sounds of the forest!
