About Rod Larkin

This cabin was built in 1963 and has been in our family since 1970. We moved to Grayling in 2010 and we live less than 10 minutes from our cabin. We love living in the Grayling area and especially on the Au Sable River. This is God's Country for sure!

Rod Larkin purchased this cabin in 1970

Why Rod Larkin chose Northern Michigan

My parents bought this property when I was 13 years old and I've been spending time here for 47 years and counting. I purchased this property from my parents in 1986.

The Grayling area has so much to offer from pristine rivers and lakes to Hartwick Pines, endless miles of hiking and ORV trails. It's a great place to stay and a great place to play!

What makes this cabin unique

Our little log cabin is nothing fancy so if you are looking for a posh resort-- keep looking. We cater to people who want to get away from it all. We cater to families with kids and pets. We cater to sportsman who love to fish and hunt. People come here and return here more for the outdoors and all it has to offer more than the indoors.

With both the Au Sable and Manistee river systems in the Grayling area-- it's a fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking, float tubing meca!

Everyone who stays with us says-- "You have thought of everything we might need or want to have during our stay." We love helping people make great memories Up North!

We offer all this at a price that's hard to beat-- less than just about any motel/hotel overnight price you'll find.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind review of our cozy little cabin in the woods! You mention one of the great features of our cabin which is the big yard of nearly an acre that allows plenty of room for all kinds of outdoor yard games, parking, etc... yet completely surrounded by woods for lots of privacy. And yes-- we keep our cabin and property clean and neat as a pin inside and out.

Off the beaten path getaway

  • 4 of 5

Cabin is a great getaway to escape the crowds, swimming hole at end of road is awesome, Rod was very accommodating and even allowed a late departure. Very well stocked kitchen and even a gas grill and outside eating/lounging area. Remote and quiet, yet close to town.
