This cabin was built in 1963 and has been in our family since 1970. We moved to Grayling in 2010 and we live less than 10 minutes from our cabin. We love living in the Grayling area and especially on the Au Sable River. This is God's Country for sure!
Rod Larkin purchased this cabin in 1970
My parents bought this property when I was 13 years old and I've been spending time here for 47 years and counting. I purchased this property from my parents in 1986.
The Grayling area has so much to offer from pristine rivers and lakes to Hartwick Pines, endless miles of hiking and ORV trails. It's a great place to stay and a great place to play!
Our little log cabin is nothing fancy so if you are looking for a posh resort-- keep looking. We cater to people who want to get away from it all. We cater to families with kids and pets. We cater to sportsman who love to fish and hunt. People come here and return here more for the outdoors and all it has to offer more than the indoors.
With both the Au Sable and Manistee river systems in the Grayling area-- it's a fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking, float tubing meca!
Everyone who stays with us says-- "You have thought of everything we might need or want to have during our stay." We love helping people make great memories Up North!
We offer all this at a price that's hard to beat-- less than just about any motel/hotel overnight price you'll find.
Great place to stay if fishing or hunting in the Grayling/Lovells area. The cabin and yard is exactly as presented on the VRBO site. A short walk to the river and many near-by areas to hunt and explore. The cabin was very clean and everything worked. Rod was a good source of local information and made sure we had everything we needed. We hope to return next year.
The cabin is perfect if you want a cozy place to get away from the justly and bustle of busy life. We have a young child and she was in absolute heaven at the cabin. It has a huge backyard with plenty of space to run, and a huge bonus is the sandbox with lots of sand toys as well as the small swing set. It was perfect for her. We loved being able to walk a short distance down the road to the river to fly fish and get wet. The Au Sable is right there and is spectacular. The property is well kept, had everything we needed, and we honestly can't wait to go back. I would recommend this place to anyone.
The Lark Inn is a secluded cabin within a few miles of Grayling proper. This little wonder sits on a large plot of grassy land with plenty of trees and bushes to leave you feeling at peace in the woods. The open floor plan is decorated with hunting trophies, and there are plenty of VHS and DVD titles for your viewing pleasure. The swing out front was the perfect place to watch the stars. Rod makes sure you know where you're going and made himself very available in case we had any questions during our stay. We would love to come back to this cozy, rustic delight.
Awsome experience at the lark inn, like the discription says all you need to bring is food and charcoal. Perfect yard for kids to play, sandbox, swingset, horse shoes, had a great time.
Thanks again! The Voss's
Even though we were only at the property about 24 hours we enjoyed our stay and were very happy with the hospitality of the property owner. Our only complaint would be that we were a little too tall to feel 100% comfortable on the futons, but otherwise we were very happy with our stay. We checked out the river, watched a movie from their expansive collection, and visited the local state park to see the trees and hike. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer! Thanks again for a nice trip :)
We had such a nice time at this adorable little cabin; it’s a quiet and peaceful location with beautiful scenery. Everything you could possibly need, aside from food and clothing, is stocked right there in the cabin. We especially appreciated that it is pet-friendly, as we brought our two small beagles with us. They loved smelling every square inch of the yard and walking along the cleared path at the back of the yard. The cabin was a good home base for making trips to Gaylord and points east for exploratory walks in various parks. (Aspen Park in Gaylord has a very nice paved trail, and you may even see some elk at the neighboring park!) "Town" is far enough away to not be a bother but only a 15 minute drive if you find you really need something. We came up to watch the Perseid meteor shower away from city lights, but the weather was less than cooperative. No matter, there was plenty to do inside between all the movies and some games/activities we brought with us. Rod and Danette were very gracious and helpful. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Lark Inn to our friends and family and we look forward to visiting again.
