Casa Carlino is a traditionally built Volcanic Tufo-Stone detached house located in the ancient hamlet of Metrano just a few kilometres from Sorrento. Metrano itself has shops, award winning restaurants and a bar. The property has recently undergone complete restoration & modernisation and boasts breath-taking views of the Bay of Naples & on a clear day as far as the islands of Ischia and Procida. The property also has the added bonus of a private and secure garage for renters private use. There is also a stunning Sun Terrace and gazebo situated on top of the property with two sun loungers a table & 6 chairs, (a little herbal garden for those extra lovely BBQ and meals adding to the superb flavours of the local produce) perfect for al-fresco dining! The Massa Lubrense area is central for many places of interest, of both beauty and culture. With the famous towns of Sorrento and Amalfi just a short drive away & the Isles of Capri, Ischia and Procida all very easily accessible. Also not to be missed are visits to the breathtaking town of Ravello & the historical & archaeological sites of Pompeii, Paestum, Herculaneum & Mount Vesuvio. WE HAVE WIRELESS INTERNET :-)
Public transport: Public transport in this area is very reliable, frequent and inexpensive. With a bus stop being located a short walk from Casa Carlino which runs in one direction to Cantone beach and in the other to Massa Lubrense, S.Agata and Sorrento town centre where the local train station and port can be found for visitors to Pompeii and Capri etc.
How to get there!: Among other airlines that fly to Naples Capodichino Airport are British Airways, Easyjet , ryanair and of course Alitalia. From there, Sorrento is within easy reach approx 1hr 15minutes!

The area was bellisimo and we ate our dinner 3 times at Giovannis restaurant ill gambero. The food was exellent and we got a good laugh about the whisteling to the waitress eath time food was ready to serve. We also went to the restaurant ill tramonto rosso and met your friend Gennaro Tizzano. We bought our food at the local allimentari and spoke to the nice elderly lady that workes in the shop.We also went to the beach in Marina del Cantone,The Dolpin beach,Majori,Possitano,Sorrento,Napoli,Pompeii,Vesuv and Capri! We had a fantastic holliday and we would love to come back another year!

Stayed in this apartment for 18 nights April-May 2016. Weather cold some days sunny and warm others, quite a few days we had rain.
The lady who showed us round did not know how to turn the heating on or Sky TV, so we had to contact the owner. In fact apart from the bed been made it didn't feel as if they were expecting us. Several light bulbs not working, kitchen and bathroom floors not clean. Had to defrost the small fridge's tiny icebox before we could use it, then only suitable for an ice tray.
On a busy road, you have to go out of the front door and up a flight of stairs which go to other properties to get to the terrace.
Double bedroom, doors open onto a balcony with good views ( but as it is right by the busy road you cant really leave the doors open). Would be better without a huge cot in the room. Second bedroom is tiny with bunk beds, not very good quality mattresses.
Living room dark with just a window onto the road. Wi-Fi worked on/off. Sky TV, just news. Take your own batteries if you want to use the Wii.
Air-con worked well and heating worked well once we had worked out how to get hot water and heating at the same time.
Garage good for a small car.
Had problems when the electricity went off, one of the owners relatives got it going after tinkering about with the mains box and a screwdriver!!! Contacted the owner who said an electrician would call early next morning, stayed in till 2pm no-one came.
The area is lovely but you take your life in your hands every time you venture onto the roads, the drivers here are insane the risks the motorbikes take are unbelievable. We have driven everywhere including Palermo, Rome etc but here was the worst. Cant really get to the actual seafront except for a very few places.
Good instructions to get there but watch out on the back to the airport as there are no signs for airport on the motorway!
Casa Carlino was amazing as I was expecting! I love the coast and have been there several times, last summer we rented Casa Carlino for a week, it was a perfect holiday! The villa is comfortable and convenient, I found the garage and the beautiful sun Terrace useful, in the evening after visiting the lovely sites in the area it was so nice to sit with a drink and watch the beautiful scenery that the villa offers from every angle. Maria, Aldo`s niece was very kind, always willing to recommend new places to visit, she lives in a house nearby but completely independent. We also enjoyed the BBQ and the near by restaurant where we probably had our best meal ever, which we used almost every night. Maria recommended also some great local unique shops! We also enjoyed the friendliness of the villagers and the lovely long walks surrounding Casa Carlino we would recommend this villa to anyone.
We can't wait to return next year. Grazie Aldo!
All our love
Dear Aldo and Maria
Thank you so much for looking after us so well in October for our very much needed break!
It was a holiday that we will never forget starting from your beautiful welcome to the way that you have made Casa Carlino feel so homely to the impeccable cleanliness of it! Without a doubt the terrazzo of casa Carlino has to be situated in a most spectacular position to make the most of the stunning location!
We feel revitalised thank you Aldo and Maria.
It’s the perfect location to get away from it all and experience local italian life - yet with good access to all the main sightseeing opportunities of Sorrento, Pompeii and day trip to Capri, to name but a few. The Casa Carlino villa matches the listing description and is clean and comfortable with all modern amenities and a lovely view across the rooftops from its high position. The local food is just delicious, with fresh vegetables, inexpensive good wine and excellent traditional italian dishes at nearby restaurants. We chose not to hire a car and enjoyed the 40 minute walk and beautiful vistas on our way to Sant’Agata sui due Golfi - enjoying good coffee and cake in the town before catching the regular bus service to Sorrento. Owners, Aldo and Deborah, couldn't be more helpful and made it easy to make arrangements for transfer to and from the airport, and with family nearby we felt home from home!
One of our favourite days out was on the Enogastronomic Tour Schiazzano at La Masseria holiday farm in a village not far from the villa. It was an interesting and entertaining experience touring the olive and lemon groves, tasting gorgeous olive oil, fresh lemons (yes - sweet enough to eat!) freshly made mozzarella, and home-made wine before heading to Aldo’s cousin Lucio's pizzeria to create our own fresh pizzas accompanied by raucous clapping, dancing and singing! We also made it down to the local marina at the foot of the hill (a very long walk but worth it - and there is a bus to bring you back up if you don’t fancy the long walk!) where restaurants can be found jutting out into the sea serving all kinds of delightful food and traditional home-made italian ice cream. If you like a holiday with a local feel, freshly grown produce, beautiful views, plenty to explore, and the sea - and far away from the madding crowd - this is the perfect holiday for you!
I have just returned from a most fantastic 2 weeks at casa Carlino.
We found this property to be a total home from home experience, comfortable clean and with all the modern facilities and a most appreciated Wi-Fi----- :-)
The owner couldn't have done enough for us always at hand if we needed any help but at the same time un intrusive! The property couldn't have been situated any better smack in the middle between Sorrento Positano, Pompei Capri Ravello and more!! FANTASTIC !!
Casa Carlino was a good base for exploring the Sorrento Pensinsula and beyond. It was comfortable and the sun terrace was a great place to relax with great views. The information Aldo provided was really useful, down to the local shop (which was so small I wouldn't have gone in if not mentioned, but it did have all the basics), and recommendations to eat. Our favourite restaurant was ‘Il Tramonto Rosso’, which is in walking distance on the road to St. Agata; very friendly and the best Pizza I have ever eaten. As well as Herculaneum, Pompeii and Vesuvius, we went to Ravello (worth going to the Villa Cimbrone Gardens as there are stunning views), and the trip there is breathtaking - both the views and the italian driving!! I can recommend 2 walks:
1) Park in Termini and follow signs to Punta Campanella. This takes you down to the end of the peninsula. 2) Park at Capo di Sorrento and follow signs saying 'i ruderi romani'. This will take you to the Punta del Capo and the Roman Ruins of the Villa Pollio with its own beautiful inlet from the sea. An easier walk than Punta Campanella. Very many thanks Aldo. Massa Lubrense is situated on the tip of the Peninsula of Sorrento, with Casa Carlino and its stunning views being located 2km from San Costanzo Mountain, 800m above sea level. From this point you can admire the breathtaking view of the entire peninsula, with the Gulf of Salerno (Amalfi, Positano etc.) on one side and the Bay of Naples on the other! :-) breath-taking views!!
