|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Near the town of Andes, this sleepy cabin in the woods is perfect for a quiet getaway. You'll have access to all the beauty of the Catskills including hiking, fishing, and canoeing.
This cabin lives on 13 private wooded acres with a peek-a-boo mountain view. Relax on the front porch or lazily daydream on the swings. Take a leisurely stroll along the quiet canopied road or hike through the woods in the backyard. At night, stare at the stars or cozy up by the wood-burning fireplace.
There are two bedrooms in the main cabin. Each bedrooms sleeps two people comfortably with queen/full beds and fresh sheets. The kitchen is fully-equipped with gas range.
There is also an outbuilding with a finished third bedroom. It can be made up for either two twin beds or a combined king.
Outside, you can cook out on the charcoal grill then enjoy your meal on a large farmhouse table in the lawn. In the backyard, try roasting some marshmallows by the firepit.
We're only about a 15 minute drive from Pepacton Reservoir where you can canoe, fish and hike. In the town of Andes, you'll find a farmer's market, antique shops and other cutesie places like that.
NOTE: There is NO cell phone reception, internet or cable access at the cabin, so be prepared for a relaxing, unplugged visit. There is a landline phone available for communication needs. You can also use the TV with built-in DVD player if you need a screen fix. Unfortunately, there is no trash pick up at the cabin. So I kindly ask that guests take waste and recyclables with them to help mitigate pest problems. A compost heap is available though.
Check-in at 4 PM. Check-out at noon.
You can't ask for a better place then Kats! If you are looking for cabin coziness, authentic woodland experience and charm. This is your place. The layout was perfect for cooking and entertainment. The books and records were such a great addition as well. Perfection.
Had a wonderful time at this cabin. Thanks for the warm hospitality! Would definitely recommend visiting this lovely home.
Kats cabin was great! My wife and I went up with our daughter. The place was very clean and cozy. Had everything you needed, including an amusing selection of books. The view from the porch was incredible in early October. Unfortunatley we didnt get to explore the property much as my 1 year old wasnt up to walking on such uneven terrain.
But we did take a morning walk down the road which was nice.
The town was nice and there is plenty to do as long as you do a little research. Even if you dont just driving the Catskills is enjoyable on its own.
Would absolutely recommend this place.
Ur house was perfect for what we were looking for. The fire pit the bbq the views the nice and calm nights. It was a pleasure renting ur cabin
We all enjoyed our stay, my husband and two grown children. The front porch is perfect for coffee and breakfast. We appreciated the notebook full of local hikes and maps and took advantage of the information for a fantastic hike. Beds, pillows were comfortable and the simple yet thoughtfully equipped rusticity made it a special place. FABULOUS reading material!
We had spent two weeks of non-stop travelling through the Creation Museum, Ark Encounter, Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York City. We were very hot and very tired and then we arrived at Kat's cabin - it was just what we needed!
The cabin is bigger than it looks and had all the space we needed inside as a family of 5. If it had rained during the whole of our stay there still would have been plenty to keep us occupied and room to spread out a little.
The adjacent Dutch barn upstairs bedroom was large and spacious and meant no-one had to sleep on the couch.
The bedrooms were simply furnished but had everything we needed. The bathroom, kitchen and laundry area were more than well equipped and we were able to cook as we would at home. The laundry meant we could catch up on washing and was also an ideal way in and out of the house without bringing dirt into the carpeted areas.
The veranda was idyllic! We could all sit on the chairs out there and relax in the sunshine, read, chat or just look at the views.
The children ran around the garden and woods, whilst my youngest loved the swing. They found toads, fireflies, lizards, butterflies and one day I saw my first hummingbird - now I know how they get their name!!
We used the campfire ring to toast marshmallows and played 'Pandemic' twice, determined to save the world! We watched videos and listened to music and didn't really miss internet or Wi-Fi access.
There was a bit of confusion over access codes but it was quickly sorted by Kat. We never managed to locate the power for the upstairs barn room but we only used it to sleep so it didn't matter to us.
The welcome book was full of great information on the local area but we could have done with a bit more on the workings of the house itself, what switches did what etc.
Heavy rain on the last night also produced a leak in the living room. It soon stopped and didn't affect us but we were a bit worried.
The local area is brilliant. It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but in reality there are neighbours closeby and it isn't far to the lovely town of Andes. We wandered around, we had coffee at Two Old Tarts, we bought some bits at the grocery store and the children desperately wanted to use the local pool.
If we hadn't been so worn out we definitely would have done some walks too.
If we are ever in the USA again, and in that region, we wouldn't hesitate to go back to the cabin. It was just lovely. Many thanks Kat.
