Sky by Name. Sky by Nature. Let your heart sing. You’ll never forget the first time that you see this view! Perched hundreds of feet above the west rim of Palo Duro Canyon State Park, from this celestial cabin you will survey everything that lies below in the canyon floor, and from above; where the sun, stars, planets, and the moon are seen traveling in the wide open expanse of the firmament. SkyHouse is a real piece of Heaven and is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This massive one-bedroom, 1 and ½ bath cabin was designed by the premiere home-builder in the Texas Panhandle. This Cliffside retreat has a contemporary design that seamlessly blends into the landscape around it. Palo Duro Canyon State Park with its Technicolor walls make for high-desert scenery more commonly seen in southern Utah. It offers more than 30-miles of hiking, mountain-biking and equestrian trails and an additional 1,500 acres set aside for horseback riding. You can bring your own horses so don’t hesitate to ask us about local boarding. Mountain bikers can experience the best single track in Texas and will enjoy the well maintained five trail heads networking for some 26-miles throughout the canyon ranging from "mild" to "wild" in technical ability - dirt, rocks, river rock, sand, wash-outs, switchbacks, drop-offs and climbs with alternative trail accesses throughout.
During the summer, enjoy a performance of the outdoor musical drama TEXAS. The play, nearing a half-century in its on-going production runs Tuesdays through Sundays, June through August, at the 1,700 seat Pioneer Amphitheater. Watch the stories, struggles and triumphs of early settlers. The family-friendly show has singing, dancing, fireworks and lots of Texas humor.

The sky house was beautiful, every detailed was very planned to make the guest feel so comfortable! The view was breathtaking and, just to sit in the rocking chair and look out into the canyon with all its beautiful colors was rejuvenating. The beds , the sheets, towels and the robes were so comfortable that we hated to come home. We loved getting into the hot tub at night to watch the stars. We've stayed in many Rentals, and by far the sky house had every detail planned out to make our visit enjoyable. We Will definitely be back.
Took a couple of days to escape from the pressures of the everyday grind. This is just the place to get away. We will be back. Thanks.
Outstanding view and very comfortable cabin. The bed was just right. Hot tub with a sky full of stars topped off a wonderful stay. Only minor complaint is there was only one large glass for drinks and on the oven buttons, the number 2 didn't work.
The SkyHouse at Doves Rest is beautiful! We loved everything about it. The hot tub was AMAZING after a day of hiking in the canyon and the view is grandiose. We hope to come back sometime and would definitely recommend this luxurious cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!
I have never stayed at a more amazing place. This home is magical. The pictures are exactly accurate, just don't do it justice. We will be back!!!!
We had a lovely three days in the SkyHouse cabin and even enjoyed the changeable weather! First day was sunny and warm so we spent time on the porch soaking in the view. The next day was cold and windy with rain off and on so we enjoyed the warmth and sound of a crackling wood fire inside and the view of the canyon through the wall of windows. On our last day we reluctantly left the cabin and explored the State Park and had lunch in Canyon. And on our last morning, we delayed our departure for about an hour to watch the twenty or so bighorn sheep just outside the cabin door. What a send off!
The cabin was well appointed, the bed comfortable, and the 180 degree view of the canyon made it a wonderful experience.
We cater to small intimate weddings that provide stunning backdrops. Or, you can rent the new Mack Dick Group Pavilion on the canyon floor for a wedding, reunion or meeting and during the summer, enjoy a performance of the outdoor musical drama TEXAS. The play runs Tuesdays through Sundays in the summer (June – August) at the Pioneer Amphitheater in the park. Watch the stories, struggles and triumphs of early settlers. The family-friendly show has singing, dancing, fireworks and lots of Texas humor.
