About Carol

Carol has always lived in northern California. She recently retired and enjoys hiking, biking and gardening. She is easy going and enjoys people. In this photo Carol is in her garden

Carol purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Carol chose Sonoma County

Carol moved to Sebastopol because of the small town charm, the Mediterranean climate and the close proximity to the ocean and to San Francisco.

What makes this cottage unique

It is an easy walk from the cottage to the many excellent restaurants and unique shops in town. There is also the new Barlow Center, wine tasting rooms, 3 brew pubs, the alternative Rialto Cinema. Around the corner of the cottage are a parade of creative sculptures on Florence Avenue by Patrick Amiot. His art is a town treasure.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Carol, Thank you for opening your lovely home to us. We had a magical time at the Apple Fair this year. We will definitely stay again.

A lovely and fantastic stay in Sebastopol.

Carol is a gem and very sweet host. The home is very clean and will stocked. The home is easily within walking distance to Whole Foods as well as other restaurants. The home is quiet and location is perfect. This is our second stay and we are already planning our third.

First, Carol the owner is a doll! The place was gorgeous and fully equipped. So quiet, shady and peaceful. Comfy bed great living area and kitchen, terrific shower. and softest towels. I couldn't add a thing. Carol was so accommodating of my changing schedule, I was very grateful. I can't recommend highly enough!!!!

Perfect in every way.

  • 5 of 5

We have just completed a month-long stay in this wonderful cottage within walking distance of downtown Sebastopol. We knew from our interactions with the owner ahead of time that we would like it -- but we never imagined we would like it as much as we did. Truthfully, we didn't want to leave.

The owner, who lives at the front of the property but who was all but invisible unless we needed her for something, is one of the nicest, kindest people we've ever met. (Plus, she's fun!) Best of all, she has an eye for detail which becomes obvious the minute you enter the property. Everything we needed was right there and there is no question that if we'd needed anything else, the owner would have provided it immediately!

The bed, I should mention, is more comfortable than our bed at home -- so much so that we copied the information off the mattress so we can replace ours with one just like it!

Sebastopol is a quaint little town with surprising amenities -- including at least a half-dozen superb restaurants. Whole Foods is within walking distance, along with Safeway, RiteAid, and a terrific bookstore. We walked to the movie theatre once a week and of course did the requisite wine tours all over the valley.

In addition to the wine tours we took a few day trips while we were there: to the Russian River, Bodega Bay, and Sea Ranch. Napa, Sonoma and Petuluma are all worth checking out and Healdsburg was our favorite -- just 20+ minutes away.

For those who want an even larger town, Santa Rosa is less than ten minutes away and boasts a full shopping mall (Macy's, et al.) We also went to the Charles Shultz Museum -- the birthplace of Charley Brown, Peanuts, etc. Fun!

We found a nice private gym close by (don't ask me why) -- and it was reasonably priced for a month-long membership. The City Library and public pool are only a few blocks away.

Seven paragraphs ago I said we didn't want to leave -- and just typing this review, and remembering our wonderful time at this property, makes us miss it terribly. As we warned the owner as we left, "we'll be back!"

Charming!

  • 5 of 5

This is the third time I have rented this cottage and it is as charming as it was three years ago. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay and a relaxing weekend. The property is quiet and within walking distance to nice restaurants and Main St. the bed is super comfortable too! Very nice details...the porch is great! I'll be coming here again for sure. Thank you again, Carol!

We loved our stay... Carol's cottage is wonderful! It's cozy, quiet and well equipped. Great location - close to restaurants & convenient for day trips.

Carol is a fantastic hostess... She is very prompt in communicating and making sure you have everything you need - yet, respects your privacy.

We hope to return and would definitely stay here, again.

Lovely cottage in a quiet spot near downtown Sebastopol

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in downtown Sebastopol! Carol's cottage is sunny, recently renovated, and ideal for two people, within blocks of restaurants, shopping, farmers market, and the famous Barlow district, which is packed with boulangeries and gourmet chocolate stores and has a ton of little bistros and restaurants. The location is on a very quiet cul-de-sac, in a neighborhood with stunning gardens, quirky sculptures, and friendly neighbors. I bike for exercise and this is a super spot to base rides (head West towards Oakville, east on Guernesville/Piner, or up into the hills on the other side of Bodega road. But one caution: the roads are full of potholes!). There are hundreds of wineries (some famous and some that will be someday but haven't yet been discovered), organic fruit markets, you name it. The broader area has rolling hills with vineyards, redwood forests, and the ocean is within biking distance. For those seeking the best California produce, breads, etc, you'll find them within a short drive. And finally, the cottage was clean, comfortable and true to pictures. Carol is a wonderful host, very helpful, and very welcoming.

Sebastopol is a 15 mile drive to Bodega Bay and the beautiful Sonoma Coast. It is a 25 minute drive to Safari West. Sonoma county is one of the most popular bike riding regions in California. Each year there are many rides including Levi's GranFondo considered by many to be the best ride on the continent. and the "best day out on two wheels."
