Janis and Larry Williams purchased this cottage in 2004
When we first drove up to this property we fell in love with the breathtaking setting, coming down the 1500 foot driveway, under the huge canopy of oaks to the stunning views of the Abbapoola tidal creek! (which means God's running water) . In 2009 we added the picturesque Coastal Palms Cottage house to our property and have shared with family and friends . They enjoyed our beautiful retreat so much, we are now offering Coastal Palms Retreat as a vacation rental for others to also enjoy.
You are 15 miles to downtown Charleston; 8 miles to Beachwalker Beach and Freshfield shopping which has boutique stores and Harris Teeter. On Saturdays there is a farmers market.. Several fantastic restaurants, like Chez Fish, Wild Olive and Fat Hens.

For horse lovers, we are 4 miles from the Mullet Hall Equestrian Center!
Janis and Larry, as I told you, we have stayed in numerous vacation rentals and never have we been taken care of like this. You have covered every single detail:.....beach towels, basketball, marshmellows, detergent, etc. So Wonderful!
The cottage and the grounds far exceeded our expectations. It was everything we were looking for and more! Thank you for sharing it with us. We were truly blessed to be here!
This cottage is absolutely beautiful inside and out. The grounds are meticulously kept. The cottage is very well stocked with basic condiments, decadent gel soap, laundry detergent, etc.
I did not give it a 5 for 2 reasons. It is SO close to the main house, it felt awkward. Decks are shared. Also, the work you have to do before leaving when you are paying a hefty cleaning fee and "service" fee, is ridiculous. Strip the beds, empty all trash cans and run the dishwasher and be out by 11am or pay an hourly fine. There are also threats of all sorts of other fines in the agreement that make it seem very unfriendly.
My grandkids loved petting the donkey and trying to catch crabs off the dock!
Janis and Larry were exceptional hosts. From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. They made sure that we had everything that we needed and were very helpful with advice on things to do and places to visit to make our vacation perfect.
The cottage house was everything that we expected and then some. Very spacious rooms, excellent amenities, and it felt very private even though Janis and Larry were right there if we needed anything at all.
The views from the dock were beautiful and the atmosphere was extremely relaxing. Only a short 10 minute drive from Seabrook, and only about 35 minutes from downtown Charleston and Folly Beach.
Our stay was everything that we hoped it would be and we will definitely request to stay here again for our next Charleston adventure.
We had a great time at the cottage. There was plenty room for our family of four to spread out from the dock in the marsh to the fire pit to the deck off of the master suite. From the classic cars to the kayaks and bikes, our girls enjoyed their stay (OK, I enjoyed the classic cars more than they did). They really loved petting and feeding Buster the donkey. Also, kayaking at sunset was very memorable.
Located on the marsh, but still just minutes from "civilization". Kiawah Island is nearby with beautiful Beachwalker Park as well nearby Seabrook Island’s Bohicket Marina. Nacho Mama’s in the marina is an affordable Mexican lunch and Red’s Ice house makes for a decent dinner.
The owners were friendly and generous with over the top service. It is a beautiful cottage that is very clean and well stocked. If we decide to visit Charleston again, we would definitely stay at the cottage.
My family stayed at the Coastal Palm Cottage last weekend and we had a great time. The cottage is a perfect spot where we enjoyed kayaking, crabbing and just being together. Janis and Larry were welcoming hosts and made sure we had everything we needed including a dog toy for the dog! We were close enough to spend time at the beach and to visit downtown Charleston and then come back to this piece of paradise to unwind. The setting is beautiful with huge live oaks covered with Spanish moss and a gentle breeze from the tidal creek. Sitting on the dock in the morning, watching the birds fly by and enjoying our coffee was an especially nice memory.
This house is located on a lovely piece of property adjacent to the main house. The owners have set up the property to have fun without having to leave. Private dock, provided kayaks with life-jackets, recreational areas for use, grill, gathering areas. While it's not walking distance to anything other than the waterway, you're away from the hustle and bustle and can get to beaches and Charleston with ease. Would certainly stay again.
We were looking for a quiet place near water. We wanted to be close to restaurants and the beach. This was perfect...15 minutes to the beach...15 minutes to good restaurants. We enjoyed being away from the crowds and tourist traps. The house was clean, quiet and well furnished. I only wish we had more time to fish off the dock! We went home renewed!
