Why Robyn Vandenberg chose Western Michigan

I bought this property for it's location. It is right in the middle of all the downtown action

Super location!

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property in Grand Haven.

This is an older house and a bit well-worn, but everything was usable and clean. The unit has 2 window A/C units to keep cool in the summer. Along with the provided fans (to aid air distribution), these had no problem keeping the unit cool.

This unit has 2 great pluses. First, the location is fantastic. It is 2 blocks off the main street of downtown Grand Haven and about 3 blocks from the waterfront. So, it is an easy walk to stores, restaurants and the waterfront. It was great to almost never need the car during our stay.

The second plus is the owner. Robyn was very easy to work with. She even went out of her way to provide us a spot to store our bicycles in a garage (about 1/4 block away) during our stay.

This is my third attempt to write a review. Home away will not allow me to tell how much I paid for the unit or other information that they feel is incriminating to the property. So suffice it to say that this property is in serious need of an update the furnishings are well past their prime and most especially the beds. The sheets are right against a bare mattress that is not certainly quality mattress The air conditioning situation is also grim there are five rooms in the unit and two small window air conditioners neither one of which is in the bedrooms. This means you have to leave bedroom doors open and constantly position fans to blow air into other rooms. You are asked to clean the unit before you leave and then your charge a cleaning fee The shower situation is just a huge disappointment period! There is no dishwasher in the unit which means you have to wash the dishes when you get there because of course people put them away dirty and then you have to wash them and put them away before you leave. Did I mention the cleaning fee? Please do yourself a favor and check all the fine print for a VRBO as they differ from owner to owner and you could get burned as I feel I did

Owner's Response: Thank you for your input on my property. I have not had these items brought up to me before, but will certainly address them. I wish I had know what you were unhappy with, as I have a storeroom across the street and my staff would have been happy to supply you with anything missing or inadequate. I am sorry I did not have the chance to make this right for you.

Perfect spot, close to everything.

  • 3 of 5

The apartment is in a great location, we rented the top half. Unfortunately the people under us were VERY noisey. The only reason i did not give this 4 stars is there is no central air, it only has 2 window units. It was hot to sleep @ night

Wonderful house in a prime spot!

  • 5 of 5

Our family came to stay for a few days and the house was perfect! It was located only a block away from the main street, and the owner was extremely helpful in getting us settled in. Will definitely stay here again next year.

Franklin apt

It was a block from everything! We walked downtown for coffee, to the marina for ice cream. Saw the fountain show.... The walk is literally steps to downtown. We stayed in the upstairs apartment which has 2 air conditioning units that had no problem keeping the place cool! Even for an upstairs apartment. Everything is clean and comfy. I would highly recommend this place but most importantly Valerie, the lady that rented to us couldn't have been more accommodating. She got back with us when I wanted to rent within a half hour, any questions were answered promptly . I could go on..... But u get what I'm saying. Her friendliness alone would have me renting again!!!!☺️. We will be back! My kids wanna go back sooner than later!!!!

Convenient and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The upstairs apartment is on a quiet street, but just a couple of blocks from the downtown shopping area. It was also very close to the beach. The apartment itself is older and in need of some updating, but very clean and had everything we needed. The owner was friendly and helpful.

Located in the heart of the downtown district. Famous Musical Fountain is 2 blocks away. There is a splash pad at the end of Jackson Street on Harbor Drive. The farmer's market, mini golf, ice cream, marinas, charter boats are there as well. All the downtown shopping and restaurants are on main street a block away. The pier and beach are about a mile down the board walk that starts at the end of the street 2 blocks away.
