About Noe' Anna Bonas
I bought and cleared the land, designed the home for my large extended family to enjoy vacations. The house was completed in 2002 and I have enjoyed this part of Hawaii ever since. Like me, many visitors have not wanted to miss out on this rejuvenating village, away from the crowded streets of town, to discover where the locals come to eat, drink and relax here at Kealakekua Bay with family and friends. It does not take long for vacationers to soon treasure this place best known to the locals…. for its feeling of being “home”. There is no place like it… I am often asked, what brought you here? I was studying Hawaiian healing with kahunas and Hawaiian kapunas, "elders" when in the late 1990's I looked across the bay and was struck by an overwhelming feeling of ecstasy. Within 8 months I found a lot for sale, cleared the land, designed a house and built it. It is one of my best decisions as it has brought much happiness to me and my family, as well as to guests who have come here from around the world.
Noe' Anna Bonas purchased this House in 2000
Why Noe' Anna Bonas chose Honaunau-Napoopoo
Once you are here at our home in Kealakekua Bay, on the big Island of Hawaii.. You can enjoy the sound of the ocean, birds, feel the sweet Kona air…and you don't have to get in the car to enjoy swimming in Kealakekua Bay.. walk to where you want to enter the bay…it is a delightful experience to go swimming with the dolphins in the bay in the morning.. This area of Hawaii is away from the crowds ,, no hotels…just outdoor enjoyment, in the water and out. If you want to shop, join the crowds..hop in the car go up the road….then return..thankful that you are home again…rejuvenating, renewing being happy again.

Captain Cook house review 2/27/2020 Property ID 72296
The setting is lovely, first rate, non touristy and very near a small, quiet park with picnic tables and swimming access to the ocean (no sand beach).
The owner, Anna, is very helpful and attentive. The house is pleasant with a very well equipped kitchen and a large living area and lanai.
The biggest problem was noise from the construction, the building of a major addition to the house. The noise was quite disturbing during week days especially on the lanai. Anna responded by directing the noisiest construction noise to the far side of the property, but it was still noisy. This was exacerbated because many in our party spent all day at the house.
The toilet situation was inconvenient at best, as only one of the two bathrooms is accessible from the main hallway, making it inconvenient for people on the third floor, and causing midnight waiting lines. The second bathroom is accessible only from in the master bedroom, making it generally inconvenient .
The third floor area was very clean and neat, but consisted of one large room with 5 beds providing little privacy and was a bit noisy.
All and all the beauty of the locale and most features of the house made up for the inconveniences we encountered.
I apologize again for the construction noise. I know that those who chose to stay at the house during the some of their days here because of age and mobility that this was not the best situation. I’m glad that other family members were able to enjoy themselves and venture out swimming in the bay and doing other sightseeing.
After hosting guests and extended families from all over the world many requests were made for the great room to have more individual beds. So that the Great room/ 4th bedroom was made to respond to those requests.
Again I deeply apologize for the construction which shouldn’t be finished by the end of March 2020. I hope to make changes In the house that will better meet the needs of those staying here.
Mahalo nui loa, thank you for your feedback.
Location, location- great and not so.....
Lovely gathering place to get our family of 3 adult children, with their partners and our almost 2 year old grandson. The young adults did not like the distance from places, i.e. sandy beaches, and going out. Parents loved the quiet home where we could listen to birds and frogs, and the proximity of the Kealakekua Bay and Manini Beach. Wonderful breakfast and dinners on the large lanai.
Fans in every room kept the house cool enough at night, and we were off exploring for most of the days. No family vacation is without its low points, but all in all, a wonderful tropical treat.
Anna was so helpful, as we did not arrive to Kona until 1015 at night, with milk and coffee and pineapple with banana bread for breakfast, and had lots of beach toys. We would come back.
Mahalo Judy and Steve. You have a wonderful family. I’m glad you enjoyed Kealakekua Bay. Many people come here From all over the world to take advantage of not having to get into the car to jump into the water for a swim and snorkeling with dolphins In the bay. I just saw a spotted manta ray playing close to shore, and a mother and baby whale spouting near the Captain Cook monument. We love being away from the bustle of town in our magical tropical setting, yet close enough to zip in when we want to.
A hui hou ...You are always welcome to return
Malama pono. Take care
Anna is the best host ever!
Anna was so great to work with and very hospitable. The property is just beautiful just a fair distance from the city life. Only recommendation is to get cable or dish, the time-frame we were there was rough not being able to watch football games :-)
Overall thoroughly enjoyed our time there!
It was so wonderful having your family here enjoying the bay, beaches, golfing, manta ray night dives, snorkeling and kayaking ...
Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. You are the 2nd person in 20 years who have wanted the TV for a game. Sorry about that... we only have WiFi for everyone’s Electronic devices
Many guests love watching the game at the Royal Kona with the waves crashing to shore, at Don’s maitai bar. Good food and party atmosphere while watching the games outdoors.
Thanks again you have a wonderful family’s
A hui hou, malama pono, until we meet again take care.
Anna made this such an amazing holiday for our family
Our family of 7 adults and 4 children that were 3 years old and under all had such a wonderful time. From the delish welcome loaf to Anna giving us great info on things to see. Always there to help us.
We loved the house and it actually fit all of us with room to spare. Our grandkids were always super excited to see the geckos. The yard was filled with beautiful flowers and aloe that Anna was kind enough to cut for my husbands burn. (THANKS)
The very nearby beach was lava but had a great grassed area. Well taken care of. My daughter and husband really enjoyed the snorkeling..
We tried to be respectful of our noise level as we did have young children but everyone was really understanding.
I do want to make an official apology to Anna and Catherine for leaving so many towels unwashed. We had to leave really early. Sorry!!
I would highly recommend this property
