This is the type of place where you can retreat with family and friends and be together but still have the ability to find your own space. Lots of room to roam and privacy.
I grew up in Boulder, Colorado and spent my summers visiting family in this part of NW Montana. My three children have grown up spending their summers here, fishing, waterskiing, camping and having fun with many family friends and guests from around the world and USA. It has been a magical place to create memories. We purchased the property and have done extensive renovations inside and out. It has been a labor of love. I live in Colorado for most of the year, but Montana is where my heart is. Depending on how much room you need or if you want to rent all of the cabins, I will most likely be around in the summer and happy to help you settle in or figure out where to go and what to do in the area.
Stephanie Winchester Wood purchased this cabin in 2003
This property is very unique. It is the kind of property that would be perfect for a wedding or large family retreat. You can also rent individual cabins and potentially meet other people staying there too. We are very close to the HA brewery. There are many places to hike and explore close to Green Bear Ranch including miles of state and national forest land. You can walk to the Tobacco Valley River, which happens to be the only river in Montana where the salmon run through town. We can help you find private chefs, horseback riding or guides. Or you can just hang out and enjoy the scenery, stars and space. We would love to have you.
The property has amazing views and is the best location in the valley. We are near Glen Lake, not far out of town, also not far from Dickey Lake. This is the 10 lakes scenic area. Even in the winter, you can enjoy this place as a rest from snowmobiling or skiing. We have four large fireplaces that will surely make you feel at home, warm and cozy.
Wow, such an amazing place. I don't know where to start! We rented the entire place for our son's wedding week and had the reception there as well. With people coming from all over the country, we were able to accommodate as many as 20 people with every comfort you could imagine. So nice to have everyone stay in the same place. Perfect home base for going to Glacier, Kookanusa Reservoir or any of the many nearby lakes. Great combination of private space, and space to mingle, eat, play, and congregate as a group. Cabins and main house felt as if we were staying in our own home with every possible accessory available at your fingertips. Everything was clean and comfortable. Just a very relaxing and inviting vibe about the place.
Yard was huge with a fire pit, volleyball court, and deck. Perfect yard for a huge tent, tables, and dance floor for the wedding reception. Big common deck by the rec room and main house was great for hanging out, and playing ladder ball and other games under the spotlights. Night sky was unbelievable! Overall views were breathtaking!
To a person, everyone who stayed here was truly impressed with this property and could not stop thanking us for finding such a wonderful place to stay. It was hard to leave!!
Stephanie is the perfect hostess and could not have been more accommodating and helpful in answering all of our questions before and during our stay. She was just really easy to work with.
Thank you Stephanie for helping create such great memories of our son's wedding!
I could keep going, but basically, if you need a place to stay in NW Montana, look no further!
Stephanie was so accommodating with this rental. Very prompt in answering any questions you may have. Her property is like a home away from home with all the amenities a family could want. WE would recommend this to anyone!!!
I recently wrote a review that was mean, angry and unfair. I owe the owner an apology. Stephanie is very nice and extremely helpful. My error was in the booking, not hers. She is hard working, honest and professional. I give my most humble apology. If my blog did hit this website, please disregard. I have personally wrote to VRBO with this same apology and telephone my apology to Stephanie and VRBO.
We had the most amazing time staying here at the Winchester estate.
Everything was clean and super organized! Wonderful place for a family retreat. We loved how each cabin is separate, giving everyone their personal space but, still everything was connected and close. We highly recommended it and will definitely be coming back soon!
Thank you again Stephanie for everything!
Beautiful place to stay, with breath taking views. Owner was awesome. Really cares for those staying there. Will stay there every time we are in NW Montana.
We traveled to Eureka for a reunion of friends & associates/ family get away and stayed with another couple who we only see every few years. Although plans dictated we wouldn't need to sped a lot of time at the cabins, the accommodations were such that our days often ended early just so we could retreat with the other couple staying with us. Set on a hillside, the property rests in a spacious field surrounded by pines.
The individual cabins were large enough that reach family of 4 was very comfortable. Rooms included not only beds and a bathroom but also a mini fridge and microwave.
One of the best parts was the well furnished full kitchen at our disposal which was simply fantastic. Having the kitchen was a huge cost cutter as we were able to dine in as much as we wanted. Plenty of space was left for the 4-kids (7mo-17yrs) to all run and play.
Had their not been a fire ban in place, we are fully prepared to use the large fire pit for s'mores... Maybe next time!
Our hostess Stephanie provided a great vacation and really knocked it out of the park with her hospitality.
Rustic in appearance but bordering on mountain luxurious, this rental property was an absolutely fantastic find and a real gem. Not only would we recommend staying here but we fully intend on returning.
Green Bear Ranch is about a 5 minute drive from the public beach at Glen Lake. The small town Eureka, Montana is located only about 5 miles away. The Canadian border is just 7 miles from there.
