The inside retains an open, light and airy feel, from the gourmet kitchen with two eat in locations, to the walk in rain showers and modern soaking tub. The outdoor patio are around the pool is ample for large parties. And right from your back yard, you can hope in a boat.

This is a very nice home in a nice area and close to all that Marathon has to offer. As you can see from the pictures, the pool is beautiful and there are 4 bedrooms plus a den.
The positives include:
1) Very private backyard with large outdoor dining table and Weber grill and covered seating area just outside the living room.
2) Two kayaks and two stand up paddle boards for visitors' use off the private deck into the canal.
3) Very nicely decorated throughout the house. The house has WiFi and there are also several TVs and a Samsung tablet to use.
However, here are several minor annoyances that made it less than ideal:
1) The pool was good sized but not cleaned while we were there for a week. Lots of leaves etc ended up in the pool. The property manager did send the pool man over to balance the pool because the ph was off.
2) The chairs in the kitchen dining area and the dining room were metal and made lots of noise when pulled out or pushed in - the floors are travertine, so it is a constant metal on tile sound. They also look cheap.
3) Bedroom #3 is advertised as queen sized but appears to be a full, the equity co. still says it is a queen.
4) Recycling was not picked up on garbage day, so there were multiple weeks of recycling/garbage on the side of the house. (This is the "mess on the side of the house" referred to in multiple reviews prior to ours. There are about 8 garbage and recycling cans on the side of the house.)
5) Most troubling was that the tub in the master bath is not anchored and nearly tipped over when I put my foot on the side of the tub.
6) The deck has multiple nails extending about 1/2" in to place. We actually hammered them in to place for the next guests after a few of us injured our feet.
Pros: Beautiful property. Pictures represent the property very well. Loved the garage full of bikes, kayaks, paddle boards, etc. Pool is private and well maintained. Private backyard. High tech electronics. Kitchen is well equipped for those wanting to cook. Grill outside is a great addition to dining at home. Beautiful area. Recommend Havana Joes for lunch or dinner. Also recommend Florida Keys Steak and Lobster for happy hour and dinner. Community has lots of activity - we enjoyed bike rides every morning.
Cons: There is no window covering on the master bath's large window that faces the street. The master bedroom's mattress is horrible. We travel quite a bit and know we have to be flexible; however, this mattress was the worst ever. The side yard needs to be cleaned up and a fence added around the tanks and trash. There was a door broken in the den. We fixed it. The property manager couldn't help us with the electronics upon our arrival so we had to spend a few hours doing research to get everything working.
Would we book this property again? Absolutely!

This home is stunning - we rented it for the week of our destination wedding in October, 2016, and stayed here with our wedding party. Key Colony Beach is an amazing location with so many attractions on Marathon and great eating on Key Colony too. We'd wake up, swim in our private pool, go out for the day and return for great evenings by the pool - high end furnishings outside were so comfortable, and there's a great grill to cook out on. Inside is gorgeous - the decor is modern, clean and high end, and there are 2 masters with en suite baths. Ours had a sliding door to a private part of the patio, with its own furniture - keeping the shades open and waking up to palm trees swaying and the sound of the fountain in the pool was just awesome. There are 3 bedrooms with large beds, and one with full-size bunk beds, really good for kids. There is a pull-out couch in an office, but it's really small, and would only recommend it for kids (our 4 year old LOVED it). There are vacant lots on either side, so no immediate neighbors, which is great for privacy, though near the end of our stay a family with small kids arrived across the canal, and we could hear them pretty easily. This house and property is gorgeous, but still casual - it really felt like we were borrowing a friend's house instead of renting - all the furnishings are comfortable and homey, the dishware, etc. is user-friendly, everything was so clean and ready to go when we arrived. Top notch electronics for us to run pandora, netflix, etc. on all the tvs in the house. We had a couple small issues upon arrival, but we spoke with Laura Kreuger who sent out someone immediately, who was very nice, responsive and solved issues quickly. Laura was so easy to work with, responded quickly via email and phone and called a couple times to make sure we had everything we need. I recommend you come during off-seasons - there are no tourists and much of the island is vacant, for great privacy. I HIGHLY recommend this house, we will definitely be coming back every year for our anniversary!
Only exception was large broken window in master bedroom's bathroom and outside side areas messy. Otherwise, the inside of the house and the pool area was wonderful. We had six adults (92 to 49 and 2 children -15 & 12). Everyone enjoyed themselves completely. Sunset beach was lovely and bikes were great to use. Unfortunately, we were not able to use the kayaks or paddle board -- just too many places to drive and tour. Wonderful time (actually needed more time for all we wanted to do). 92 year old used wheeled walker, wheelchair & cane at various times and it was very easy to move throughout the house.
We will be back again! The house is newly remodeled and has everything you could want (even some amazing folding kayaks that fit in our car and we could drive to the nearby park to kayak in the mangroves). Bedrooms are very nice and the open kitchen/living space was great for our family. The back yard and pool were perfect for cocktails and swimming with the kids. We even caught some fish off the back dock. It's a short walk to a small beach and nice park - good for kids to play on rocks and a bit of sand.
