Girls Weekend Get-a-Way

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Matt and CJ for owning and operating such a clean and stocked cabin for us girls to relax and get a way from it all. Considering I didn't have any data service, it was a true break from reality! Most resorts I've stayed at don't provide, kitchen soap, hand soap, paper towels, salt/pepper, FIREWOOD, etc. and it was a pleasant surprise to see that you did. The pontoon rental was perfect and we enjoyed every minute on the lakes and excursion to Bimbos. Thanks for being attentive to our every need! Our only suggestion would be to get a stronger rope and spike anchor for the pontoon. We'll definitely recommend your cabins to our friends and would stay again in a heartbeat!!

Great place, great location, wonderful owners!

  • 5 of 5

Our short but sweet weekend stay had been truly wonderful! The place is so fresh and clean and fully stocked. The owner welcomed us when we arrived and made sure we got in okay, explaining all about what we could enjoy in the property. We had a wonderful time exploring the chains of lakes, renting their pontoon. They had kayaks for us to use and a manicured field for the kids to run around and play in. It was rainy when we were here but he made sure we had dry wood to use for the campfire.

We will definitely be back and I had just marked this place with a red heart (favorite) for us. :)

Matt and family, thank you for a truly wonderful stay! I knew even the kids truly appreciated their stay when they can't stop saying they said bye and thank you and gave you hugs. :P

Great Cabin/Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed at Sturgeon Landing in July for nine nights and we loved every minute! We had initially booked for one week, but plans changed and the owners were very accommodating in allowing us to stay to extra days at a reasonable price.

We've been vacationing at the Sturgeon River chain of lakes for years and staying here has been our best experience to date. The cabin we stayed at was newly renovated, clean, comfortable, and well-furnished. Convenient parking allowed for easy loading in and out. The location is prime with easy access via the channels to all of the lakes and is within walking distance to CC Camp, McCarthy Beach, and Pine Beach. We even ended up walking to Bimbo's one night - it was that easy!

The owners are very welcoming, attentive, and were receptive to our needs. As we were one of the first renters of the season, there were a few things that we wished were in place: a radio/stereo, games (cards/dice) and lawn chairs to better enjoy the grill, fire pit, and extensive outdoor space. Also, more frequent garbage/recycling pickup or receptacles to put these things in would be nice as our only option was to place our garbage bags outside the backdoor on the patio until the end of our stay.

All-in-all, a great experience! We'll definitely be back looking to stay here again next summer, if not sooner. It would be a perfect spot to enjoy all winter activities as well.

The Side Lake chain of lakes is a staple of the Iron Range area. Beautiful lakes and scenery in every direction. Great destination for fishing, boating, tubing, waterskiing, jetskiing, riding ATV's, or just plain relaxing. Boat access to all five of the lakes on the chain. This area is simply bustling in the summer months and definitely where everyone wants to be. If you come for a stay, you absolutely must check out McCarthy State Park and Beach, located just 1/4 miles from the cabins. Whether you drive to the beach or anchor your boat just off shore, you are sure to find a lot of fun! Also, make sure to catch a pizza and some wings at Bimbo's Octagon - best in the area!! Once back at the cabin, enjoy some volleyball, horseshoes, or bocce ball at the waters edge - and don't forget to make some Smores after you light a fire in the fire pit!
