Furnished to a very high standard, the perfect base for your Algarve holiday

About Mr Simon Lile
Casa Ninho is jointly owned by 2 English families who live in Nottinghamshire & Staffordshire. We purchased the villa from an English family (who built it in the 70's). We love the tranquillity of the mountain side location and the stunning views. We visit 2 or 3 times a year to holiday and undertake any additional maintenance.
Mr Simon Lile purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Mr Simon Lile chose Municipality of Monchique
This is a very special place for us, and reading our guest book our visitors seem to agree. Peace and tranquillity in a stunning location make for an ideal holiday location. There is plenty to do locally and the big towns and beaches are only 30 - 40 mins drive away if you fancy a day out.
What makes this Villa unique
The peace & tranquillity, stunning views, lovely heated pool. We've equipped the villa with all the things we feel make this a home from home. So often when we visit other villas there is a shortage of something or another, we have tried to ensure our small piece of Portugal is fully equipped. However we realise different guests look for different things, so if you feel something is missing please do not hesitate to let us know. We welcome all feedback.
Parties/events not permitted.
Do not smoke in our villa.
Sorry we do not accept pets
Well behaved children are very welcome.

Wonderful in every way
Very spacious property with full facilities as described plus loads of extras!
Beautiful in every aspect - amazing views to coast.
lovely sized swimming pool 10x8m
Exceptional villa in every way!
Lovely house, warm and comfy
February was cool but dry with plenty of warmth in the sunshine. We managed to eat outside on the balcony most lunchtimes. Indoors, with an open fire and central heating options, we were very comfortable. Many areas to explore on foot and by car.
There were obvious signs of the fires of last summer but new vegetation was springing up and there was much new green growth. The view towards the coast is magnificent but was occasionally marred by low cloud - a bit early in the season maybe? On a clear night the lack of light pollution meant the starscape was amazing!
We didn't use the pool but it looked clean and cared for. A chap came to clean it while we were staying. A benefit of the season was to have fresh oranges and lemons available in the garden - the ?tangerines? had so much more flavour than anything we buy in the shops
This villa could be amazing but needs a little TLC
There were some wonderful things about this villa. Firstly it has to be the cleanest holiday rental property we have ever stayed in which was brilliant. It was immaculate and the cleaner Mahlia came three times during our week stay! The kitchen is a cooks dream and is equipped with everything you could possibly need (equipment and condiments) so we did not have to shop for the basics as it was all taken care off. The showers were brilliant too with lots of hot water and fantastic water pressure and it was the perfect setting in the hills for a quiet stay.
Unfortunately the external of the villa and the outside amenities have obliviously been neglected for some time and this let the villa down. It is no longer as beautifully white washed and immaculate as the pictures of it show. The drive is un-maintained and has the appearance of a river bed which means extreme care is required when walking or driving up the steep hill to the villa entrance. Most disappointing of all was the pool and pool area. My partner and I love to swim and the pool was a key decider for us in choosing this villa. Even though we had freakishly and unexpected cold weather during our stay (an average of 14 degrees for a week in June!!!) I would still have used the pool as it appeared to be heated. Unfortunately the pool was filthy so even though the water was warm, we did not dare get into it. This was not just a few floating leaves... it was dirty all round the sides and the bottom of the pool with weeds growing around pool and the patio area surrounding the pool.
As I said at the beginning this review this villa could be incredible and it looks like when the photo was taken it was. In it's current condition it definitely is not luxury, but a little bit of TLC could make it that way again. It's obvious the owners have gone to great lengths to try and think of everything to make a visitors stay as lovely as possible which makes it such a shame that the little bit of neglect has let it down.
Thank you for you review, we have to say we are very disappointed to read your comments. It’s a shame that you didn’t mention any issues to ourselves or our property managers during your stay and giving us the opportunity to put things right, but instead waited until you return home and write a disappointing review.
We work very hard and spend a considerable sum annually trying to provide a lovely holiday home. We have the house painted periodically and had intended to repaint this spring, but due to the inclement weather this wasn’t possible and has been postponed until later in the year. The drive has now been resurfaced, again unfortunately delayed due to the heavy rain.
Our property managers are on call 24/7 and are there to address any issues on our behalf, we can not understand why you didn’t contact us or them with your concerns, all guests have access to our contact details.
The villa is approx. 2000 feet up a 3000 foot mountain, giving us the lovely views, but is also susceptible to the mountain micro climate, with occasional strong winds and heavy rain, unfortunately the weather was unusually bad during your stay which will inevitably result in leaf & dust debris getting into the pool.
The pool is attended weekly by a specialist company who check and adjust the PH balance and clean the pool thoroughly. There is a pool net provided to remove leaves etc in between service visits.
Fabulous Property Quiet Location
Cash Ninho was exactly what we had hoped for. Located above Monchique in beautiful surroundings. Plenty of space for the family to spread out (we were 4 generations) and also large communal areas for family meals. We all loved the pool, particularly our grandaughter who learned to swim this trip.
Also conveniently located for the beach (about 25 minutes drive to Portiamo) with Albufeira and Lagos about 40/45 minutes away. All 3 locations have very different things to offer. These were just the things that we did do and there were plenty of other areas to explore had he had more time.
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home.
Superb in all respects.
The whole party were very impressed with every aspect of this villa. The kitchen was extremely well resourced with cupboard space, crockery and cutlery plus a wide range of condiments. Pride of place must be the stove with its 5 rings, hot plate, twin ovens and grill. Money has obviously been spent here. A real bonus was that the stove ran on gas, and not the ubiquitous electricity which is found in most Algarve rented properties, which makes cooking more of a lottery. The lounge was equally good, very spacious comprising stylish, comfortable furniture and a range of reading and video materials. Beds were also very comfortable and all bedrooms had ensuite facilities, three of which were unusually large. Once again fixtures had been chosen with an eye for quality. The children particularly took great delight in the pool and the plethora of inflatables (with foot pump), having at least 4 spells a day. The pool is unusually large for a villa measuring, 10X4 metres so a decent swimming length was possible. It is terraced as is the house, the ground floor having a particularly large area. This villa has no shortcomings in our view, quite the reverse in fact.
Wonderful, family friendly house!
We have just returned from a fantastic few days in this amazing property. It has a huge amount of space with ensuite bathrooms for every room. It is was beautifully clean and comfortable. For me it was perfect in that it was that rare thing - a house that is peaceful, rural and isolated yet within easy walking distance of several great restaurants!
There is a lovely pool (we paid extra for heating and so glad we did - it was wonderfully warm and we swam even on the cooler days). The area itself is stunning and there are plenty of places to explore nearby. There were also toys and DVDs to amuse the children which is always a bonus! I really recommend this property for a group of friends or a family group.
Monchique, Caldas de Monchique with its Roman Spa, Foia providing stunning views, golf, shopping, south and west coasts within a 20-30 minute drive. The west coast beaches are much quieter with less tourists than the south and more spectacular.
