About Laura Strong

Kevin and I have lived in the Flathead Valley since the late 70s. We've put on hundreds, probably thousands, of miles backpacking, climbing, hiking, fishing, biking, camping, skiing and boating- when it comes to recreating- we love to go do it! Oh yes we've managed to squeeze plenty of working in there also. But any and every local will tell you- we don't live here to work- we work (as little as possible) to live in the most amazing place!

We love and know this area very well- we'll help you discover the on or off-the-beaten path adventure you are dreaming of- this place is made for dreamers.

Laura Strong purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Laura Strong chose Glacier Park

This is a new venture for us as we head towards retirement age. After working for other companies in the hospitality industry, I thought it was time I put my own identity into sharing this wonderful valley with travelers. Kevin and I have applied our joint talents to redesigning this property into a welcoming, cozy camp for you. It is a work in progress, but I imagine I'll be saying that 10 years from now as well. Our home is located on the property, along with Kevin's cabinet shop, next to our 4 rental cabins, so we are available if you have questions or problems.

What makes this cabin unique

Our location is so perfect to access every activity in the area- but especially Glacier National Park. We are in the northeast corner of the Flathead Valley just before the entrance to the canyon leading to Glacier. You are 15 minutes from the Park, but also only 10 minutes from Whitefish, an easy 20 minute drive to amazing Flathead Lake, and minutes from several award winning golf courses. We have three different public fishing accesses on Flathead River within 4.5 miles of us- 2 are within one mile. Whitewater rafting on the fabulous Middle Fork of the Flathead River is located in West Glacier only 15 miles up the road.

A lovely place to stay for a Glacier np visit!

  • 5 of 5

These adorable cabins are a great way to visit Glacier NP and save some $. We used the kitchen every night to cook dinners and prep our lunches for the following day out. The kitchen has the necessary utensils and pots/pans, salt/pepper, oil, sugar, and (delicious) coffee. Laura was super nice and rolled in an extra bed so it slept 3 comfortably. We had extra towels provided to us, the bathroom was stocked with essentials- soap even a hair dryer. We used the free wifi and never turned it on, but there was a tv in our cabin too- I didn't expect to have wifi and access to a tv. Laura provided great hiking recomendations and was a great host. Cabins were clean, comfortable and a 15-20 minute drive from the west Apgar entrance. I would highly reccomend these cabins if you are looking for comfort but also to save some money by cooking your own meals. The adorable town of Whitefish is also within a short distance drive.

Stop looking and book this!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in cabin D for a week. The cabin was perfect. It's beautiful inside with everything newly remodeled and spotless. The local coffee provided was a very welcome touch. We are super picky about mattresses and pillows and found both to be extremely comfy. Laura is a good host.

The location is pretty close to a busy road but we didn't really hear any road noise at night inside.

We could not have been happier with this rental and would recommend it for any couple planning a trip to the Glacier or Whitefish area.

Perfect home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this little cabin! A great location. About 20 min drive from Glacier National Park. Had all basic cooking utensils. It was a wonderful place to come home to after long days of hiking. Great hosts that were available to answer any questions at all. Thank you!

Comfortable cabin close to Glacier

  • 4 of 5

These cabins are very comfortable and well appointed. I doubt I have ever stayed in a rental anywhere with a more well appointed kitchen. Everything you will need to prepare your meals is available and in brand new condition. The entire cabin seems to be brand new - very clean, excellent condition, and air-conditioned!

The cabins are located a short drive to Glacier National Park, which is where we spent most of our time. The town of Columbia Falls is just a few minutes away, but we did not visit more than just the grocery store, preferring to cook our own meals (which is why the fully stocked kitchen was so wonderful!)

One of my favorite features of this property is the common area fire pit. Laura has an abundance of firewood and fire starters/ kindling available, as well as a grilling rack and all the tools you will need (i.e. skewers, tongs, etc). We cooked steak and potatoes over an open fire our first night there and it was just perfect.

The one and ONLY reason I did not rate this as 5 stars is because of the location right along the main road. The noise never bothered us and there is an obvious argument to be made for convenience, but it's just a personal preference. Despite this, I would happily stay here in the future and recommend this place to my friends and family.

Owner's Response: Thank you Kim for your kind review. We love that you took advantage of the fire pit and enjoyed cooking and hanging out by the fire. It means a lot to me when people see that I've tried to make these cabins feel like home, where you can relax and let your hair down after a long day on the trail. We hope you do come see us again.

Very nice and charming cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is very cute and met our needs well. They even provided us with a additional bed for our child which was unexpected and very nice of them. Laura was quick to answer any questions I had. If you are planning a trip to Glacier National Park, I would highly recommend this place if you want to cook some meals on your own. Also, they are not far from Glacier, but still have the perks of being in town.
