About Jessica Richards

Hi! My name is Shane Quimby and I am the proud owner of 'The Quimby Cabin'; that's a picture of me building that deck out back. Originally from a small farm town in Illinois, I have been involved in the Yellowstone area for the past nine years and it's been my home for three years. I am a craftsman with a woodworking business in Gardiner, MT called Badger Creek Rustic Furniture. I have put my whole heart and soul into restoring this home and have tried to create a space that mirrors what I feel in this area: peace, tranquility, and happiness. I have decided to open my home up to people from all of the world. I do hope you'll come and stay awhile, just soaking in that morning sunrise.

Why Jessica Richards chose Yellowstone

This property has the best view in all of Gardiner. The cabin sits above the Yellowstone River and looks directly into Yellowstone National Park with views of the Black Canyon of the Yellowstone, Rattlesnake Butte, and Mount Everts all from the kitchen window. Wildlife including elk, bison, bighorn sheep, mule deer, marmots and other critters have been known to walk around the property, even bed down in the back yard. Other animals spotted in the surrounding hillsides includes black bear, wolves, coyotes, foxes, waterfowl, and various song birds. This property is also within walking distance of the best restaurants in town and a short drive from the North Entrance. It's convenient, comfortable, and cozy.

Great location, great cabin

  • 5 of 5

We were totally pleased with this cabin, our last stop of our vacay before heading back home via Bozeman airport. We did white water rafting, visited boiling stream, ate at Iron Horse, visited the local shops, in our short stay. We would definitely stay longer next time and would not hesitate to book this cabin. Very clean, well prepped, all the modern amenities, but charm of a cabin. Loved the deck overlooking the river. Scratching my head to think of anything negative :) !

Great house with awesome view of the river.

  • 5 of 5

Can't think of anything that could make this a better place to stay. Super nice owner. Interior is clean, roomy and full of character. Sits just above the river and deck is great to look out on the river and mountains. Kitchen is extremely well stocked for those that wish to cook. Many shops and restaurants are within two blocks so easy to walk. Top notch!

Best place to stay when visiting Yellowstone!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 (3 girls - 12, 7, 7) absolutely LOVED Quimby Cabin! The view from the back deck is exactly as the pictures show and we sat out there morning, noon and night. The girls really enjoyed watching the white water rafters come by every few hours and I loved the listening to the sound of the river and watching the sunrise. The house itself is very accommodating and we felt comfortable with plenty of space to sleep, relax and even cook. After spending several nights inside Yellowstone, it was great to have a tv, Netflix, Wifi and a washing machine and dryer. Everyday we made the short five minute walk to many restaurants and the entrance into the park. We went on a 2 hour white water rafting trip through Wild West (Brittny was our guide) and it was definitely a highlight of the trip. Not too rough for our little ones and our oldest thought it was great. We also went fly fishing for the first time with Buddy from Flying Pig and the girls are still talking about it. He was so good with them and very interesting to talk to. We would all absolutely recommend Quimby Cabin and will definitely stay there again if we are ever in the area. Thank you Shane - I was sad when I woke up this morning in Massachusetts and didn't have the river to watch while eating my breakfast!

Awesome place

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay at this cabin. The owner who lived next door was super helpful and nice. The cabin is rustic but plenty modern where needed - and the deck and view is incredible. Amazing place to stay -- walk to anything downtown Gardiner and short drive to park entrance. Very clean place with everything you might need to explore the area. Would certainly stay again. Can't say enough good things about this property.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife, I and our 12 year old son stayed here while visiting Yellowstone National Park over the July 4th holiday, and found the place to be great. Shane, the owner, was readily available, friendly and very helpful. The house itself was clean, spacious enough for the three of us and provided the view you see pictured off the back porch, making it hard to do anything else besides sit there and enjoy it. The location of the house was a perfect base of operation as it allowed easy access to Yellowstone and was within walking distance of numerous dining options. We were even able to walk down to the river where my son caught several small trout and one Montana Whitefish. We would definitely stay here again.
