Nice Place to stay

  • 4 of 5

Although we spent a lot of our time around the area, the accommodations were perfect for us. For the size of house and the number of people it can sleep, the only thing missing is a second bathroom. Otherwise the home had everything that you would need.

We loved La Belle's Crepe for breakfast and sunsets at Lake Crescent....and lots of hiking, waterfalls, rain forests and whale watching too. Good location to do all!

Clean, good for a nights sleep.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was older and laid out differently but it was clean and had comfortable beds and lots of them. The master bed was aweful, the other four were great. Had amenities needed but bring your own shampoo and coffee. Sammy the cat was super sweet and visits daily but stays outside so no worries if allergic. I would recommend. We had to go to the office to get they keys even though there is a lock box onsite, we would have preferred to just go straight to the cabin.

Family of five - 3 teens - had a great stay. Kids loved the comfy beds. Very close to the Elwha park entrance and 7 miles or so to Lake Crescent - it's incredible. Home has all you need. Nice stay!

Okay for families, but has a few issues

  • 3 of 5

Good things first: our three boys loved the upstairs bedroom, and the smaller upstairs room was perfect for our baby. The location is very convenient to both Port Angeles and Lake Crescent hikes and attractions. The split bathroom works really well and there were only a few times when we really wished for a second bathroom.

Bad things:

The upstairs bedrooms and the stairs to reach them have an extremely low ceiling. I am 6 ft tall and was constantly bumping my head. The upstairs is not insulated at all so it will be really cold at night and super hot during the day. (There is an air conditioner and windows so you can take measures, but still really hot.) I would not recommend these rooms for adults.

The kitchen is very small and has a serious ant problem. Both large and small ants everywhere. I would recommend the owners get it checked out as I think the large ones were carpenter ants. Besides the ants, the kitchen was a little under equipped. Plan on buying everything, including oil, salt, and pepper. Literally nothing is provided or left behind from previous users.

There's a wifi hotspot with no directions and we never succeeded in getting internet out of it, so don't plan on that. Phone reception is very spotty as well.

Finally, there is a cat that constantly hangs around the house. He ran inside the instant we opened the door and we were constantly having to shoo him out. He sits and watches you at the back door all day. Don't plan on using the backyard if you are allergic to cats because he basically lives there. Apparently, this cat belongs to the owners. I would have appreciated a little more notice that we'd have an ad-hoc pet on our vacation.

Great location for Olympia National Park

  • 4 of 5

This small home is a great location for several of the entrances and attractions in Olympia National Park.

The home is pretty basic, not 'high-end", however it fit our need for privacy and location. The kitchen is well-stocked. The towels are nice. There is no cable TV (or antennae TV). The unit has both VCR and DVD players, but only a handful of movies. There is no WiFi. There are lots of books and several games. Large washer and dryer.

There is a beautiful creek behind the unit, with a creek-side trail for hiking. We only followed the trail for 50 yards, not sure how far it goes.

FYI - At your departure, you will be asked to start a load of used towels and to remove all trash to the outside dumpster.
