About Paul Fischer
We are the owners of Eagles Landing in The Outer Banks. We have been vacation property owners in Corolla since 2004. We spend a lot of time at our Corolla home throughout the year and have been hosts to hundreds of vacationing guests in recent years. We book and manage our vacation home at a level of excellence that is not possible by any rental agency. We work with great local service providers who maintain the property and prepare the home for your arrival. Our cleaners and maintenance people have been with us for several years, and we know them all by first name. We spend at least a week at the house during the summer, and we make 2 inspection visits to double check on the status of the property. As frequent vacationers in Corolla, we enjoy sharing our knowledge of the area with our guests including activities, dining, and shopping.

We had such an amazing stay at Eagles Landing! House was super clean and had everything we needed. This was the cleanest rental we ever stayed at, I was impressed! Kitchen was spacious and well equipped! We loved the large dinning room table. Paul was extremly helpful and was always quick to respond if we needed anything during our stay. Our stay was perfect, kids (and adults) didn't want to leave! Thank you Paul for everything!
Don't rent off season
For years my kids and I had talked about going to the beach off-season for Thanksgiving. We finally decided to pull the trigger when we spotted this lovely house on line. It listed a lot of amenities so I knew it would be a fun and relaxing place to spend the holiday with our adult children. The listing featured a heated pool, hot tub, and many clubhouse amenities. Turns out the pool was not clean or filled, nor was the hot tub. Most of the clubhouse activities were likewise shut for the season. My kids were disappointed. I contacted the owner and he informed me I would have had to notify him ahead of time and paid a significant sum for him to open the pool and hot tub off season. This is NOT noted in the listing. He did have a tech come by and fill the hot tub from the dirty pool water several days into our stay. We enjoyed the hot tub, though the water was quite funky and I was worried it might not be too sanitary. The house was lovely, however. Well laid out. Spacious and light filled. Nicely decorated. I'm sure it is much nicer during the summer. There was little by way of basic household needs. Just single rolls of toilet paper in some of the bathrooms. None in others. No trash bags or laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid. We did get a nice welcome basket the morning after we checked in. That was nice. I am used to the more expensive homes on vrbo like this one being more generous with basic supplies. There were maintenance issues, mostly cosmetic like rusted, broken railings, etc. But there were other things, like no furniture on the decks, again maybe because it was off season, that we found perplexing and inconvenient. There were lots of cobwebs in the lights, but that wasn't that big of a deal. It was quite warm the week we were there and it would have been nice to be able to sit outside. Also, I find it dishonest when a listing comes up as one price in a search, then exorbitant and inexplicable owner's fees bloat the final quote, as was the case with this listing. Still, the owner was nice and responsive, even if the house wasn't entirely as billed. Perhaps the owner should consider not offering his property for rent in the fall and winter, or else be more clear and accurate about which amenities are not offered off season.
North Carolina is not a warm climate outside of summer and shoulder seasons. Late fall and winter temperatures can dip into mid 30’s and low 20s. Providing an open pool all year would require commercial grade heaters for the water and the pool decks and would use a tremendous amount of propane at a high cost.
Our listing specifies a heated pool as an option at an additional fee. We provide complimentary pool heat in prime summer and at a very reasonable cost in shoulder season. Guest did not request heat option or mention interest in the pool.
We offer hot tub as an option on request in offseason which is clearly specified on our listing and in pre-arrival information. Guest did not request option. As a courtesy we sent technician at our cost to open the spa. We absolutely did not fill the tub from the pool water as it contains strong chemicals for the offseason.
Community clubhouse facilities are open all year including tennis courts, basketball courts, fitness center. Only the community pool was closed due to end of season.
We don’t provide household and personal supplies which is typical for vacation home rentals. People would rather bring their own supplies which match their preferences and expected quantity. There is a grocery store with 1/4 mile.
We have very high standards for home cleaning Most vacation rental homes are cleaned by a random cleaning crew. We have an excellent private home cleaner who has cleaned our home nearly every rental week for 14 years, is very detail oriented, and she knows us and our home very well.
Travelers to the North Carolina coast in the offseason come here to find a different and more peaceful experience including quiet walks on empty beaches, viewing sunsets on the Currituck Sound, nature walks near the historic village, nature photography, shopping at craft stores, and uncrowded restaurant dining. At our home they enjoy watching movies, playing pool in the billiards room, quiet reading, and preparing family meals. We offer our home in offseason at a small fraction of the summer rental cost that reflects lower overall demand and significantly fewer seasonal amenities. We will continue to offer our home to traveling guests who have that expectation.
We thank guest for their Thanksgiving stay, and we appreciate their feedback. We encourage you to read other reviews and contact us in your booking process and throughout pre-arrival with questions. Happy New Year and happy travels to all in 2020!
We had a wonderful time while on vacation at the Outer Banks (Corolla). This was our first visit to the area and we highly recommend the area and the property. It was perfect for our family. Being close to golf and the beach while having a nice (heated) pool made the trip very enjoyable. Paul was great to work with and was very helpful. I am sure we will be back sometime in the near future.
Best rental ever
Our family had the best experience in this home. Size is perfect for large families not to be on top of each other and have their own space. Kitchen has every instrument and more than enough plates, cups, glasses, etc you can think of that you would need. Kitchen space is great for multiple people cooking and prepping. Communication with the owner was easy and he was more than helpful. Loved everything about this home. I’d love to rent it again!
Our vacation was better than we ever imagined. Eagles landing nicely accommodated our 11 family members (including 4 children age 3-13). There were a lot of us but the large open spaces and multiple bedrooms in the home never had us feeling crowded. Having our own private pool was an added benefit which we took advantage of daily. We had never been to the outer banks before and have fallen in love! The Eagles landing rental gave us so many options between activities at the Currituck club and Pine Island (which we loved). The golfers in our party said the Currituck club was one of the nicest courses they ever played. It was nice to have the grocery store and shops close by. We made stops to island smoothie and duck donuts frequently. We also enjoyed morning runs in the neighborhood. The resort website was very informative for activities and meal planning. We enjoyed meals at the corolla cantina and cosmos. We rented a jeep and drove the beaches in Corolla where we got to see dolphins and the wild mustangs! Owners Paul and Valerie are very kind, responsive, and care about renters having a nice vacation. Our only regret was having to come home. Hope to return in the future.
5 Stars +
The property was beautiful. The home had all the conveniences you could hope for and was clean and well appointed. The location within this lovely gated community was ideal as we were close to the grocery store, the clubhouse and gym. The convenience of the trolley to the beach was excellent as well. Paul was a very gracious and responsive host and we would definitely stay here again.
