Great house located in the village of Avon, along the Outer Banks Scenic Byway. Avon is just south of one of the longest stretches of unspoiled National Seashore on the Outer Banks. Updates for 2018 include new kitchen cabinets and counter tops, new flooring in the entire upstairs, new surface on the top deck and new dining area lighting. These upgrades join recent improvements such as a first phase of updated windows and siding, and a new rear deck. Our comfortable, clean home in family friendly Kinnakeet Shores is ready for your beach getaway!

Sea's Calling is just a quick, easy walk to the beach, and close to community amenities, shopping, and dining. We're just a quick drive from the "Canadian Hole," an epic kite boarding and windsurfing spot. The famous Cape Hatteras lighthouse is only minutes away by car. Renting from Saturday to Saturday weekly during June, July and August, and with a four night minimum during other months, our home features dual zone AC, recently updated furniture in the great room, and a Keurig machine for your use! Spend your day at the large private community pool, playing tennis, surf fishing, or just "beaching it." Stroll for miles along uncrowded Atlantic Ocean beaches, collecting seashells and observing nature. Sit on the rear deck at sunset and enjoy the beautiful colors in the western sky. An outdoor shower with hot and cold water will provide a refreshing way to wash off the sand and salt as you end your day outdoors. In the evening, sit on the upper deck and be amazed by the stars above.

When you arrive at Sea's Calling you will enter the lower level which contains a washer and dryer for all your laundry needs. You will also find tennis racquets and balls for your use.The second level has two tiled baths and three tastefully decorated bedrooms. Fresh linens are provided for all beds. In the first bedroom you will find a double bed and two bunks. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a memory foam mattress and ceiling fan. Here you can enjoy a shaded area and the porch swing to read, relax, or grab some quiet time. Each bedroom has a flat screen TV and DVD player with DirecTV satellite access.

The top level features an open concept with a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious deck. Off the kitchen is a large vaulted great room with living and dining space and a half bath. The living room features a 43 inch flat screen TV with DirecTV satellite access, Blu-Ray player and Wii system for your entertainment. TV service includes 140 TV and music channels. In addition, there are puzzles, cards, books, and family games for you to enjoy. Outdoors, there is a horseshoe pit, fish cleaning station, and a patio with grill, seating, and a picnic table. We offer free WiFi throughout the house.

For the kiddos, we have a Pack N Play, attachable booster seat with tray, and umbrella stroller. There is a safety gate at the upper deck steps and a collapsible one for inside use. There is a deck box with beach chairs, beach umbrella, and chair cart. There is a cooler for your use. About Gary and Mary Joyner

We have long held ties to the Outer Banks, and for years rented beach properties for our own OBX vacations. Having spent time in every OBX area, we feel a special affinity for Hatteras Island and the southern portion of the Outer Banks, as it remains much the same as it was when we first began visiting many years ago. We are both busy professionals and our time at the beach to decompress is treasured. Gary for years chased big game fish in his boats off the Outer Banks from the ports of Oregon Inlet and Hatteras. Now with Avon conveniently located, he loves to drive to the Hatteras docks at 4:00 and see what the fleet brought in, maybe following up with dinner while in Hatteras Village. Mary loves and enjoys the beach from sunup to sunset and we both enjoy being on the OBX all times of the year. Owning this home is the culmination of our dream for years to own a beach property. Enjoying the fresh seafood, shooting images of the natural beauty, enjoying every sunrise and sunset over the waters of the ocean and sound and sharing with friends and family all mean something special to us. Having this home in Avon to share with our guests allows us the opportunity to provide a comfortable and embracing place from which you can enjoy all the Outer Banks has to offer.

With our purchase in 2015, we began updating the home and have added several new pieces of outdoor furniture, a porch swing on the lower deck, a new grill, a new fish cleaning station, a new heat pump for fall and winter getaways, new bed linens, a new 43" flat screen TV in the living area, a new electric fireplace for the cooler months, new living room furniture, fresh paint on the upper level, and many new decorative items. We completed a first phase of replacing windows, siding and exterior paint in 2017. For 2018, we have replaced the kitchen cabinets, bar top, and flooring on the entire upper level.

Why Gary and Mary Joyner chose Avon

Great amenities such as the Community Pool/Tennis Courts, walking trails around neighborhood, easy beach access, and bike lanes through the village. The village of Avon is nestled within stretches of protected National Seashore, which helps preserve a special feeling of unspoiled beauty. Truly a three season location and close to the warming waters of the gulf stream offshore, Avon offers as much fun and comfort in the early spring and fall seasons as it does in the heart of summer. With proximity to the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, and easy travel to the villages of Buxton and Hatteras, there are lots of things to do and see. Kinnakeet Shores is a quiet cul de sac community and is very kid and family friendly, with no through streets. Sea's Calling is an easy walk to shopping, beach access, and the community amenities area. If you fish, surf, SUP, kite surf, windsurf, kayak, or simply soak up the sun at the beach, there is something nearby to keep you engaged in your favorite activity. Sea’s Calling offers a comfortable and relaxing place to call home while at the beach. The home is close to Food Lion for groceries and various restaurants for dine-in and take-out. It is an easy walk to the Avon Pier with all its activities and fishing.

What makes this house unique

EZ, safe walk to the beach. Close to groceries and amenities. Quiet, well-kept community.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I stayed at Sea’s Calling during Thanksgiving 2017. Sea’s

Calling is a perfect family friendly rental with all the amenities,

including a hot tub. There was plenty of room for the entire family of 5,

three kids (14, 12, & 5). The property is located in a quiet beach

neighborhood, with access to the beach in an 8-10 minute easy walk. There

was a great beach cart my kids and I used to transport all our fishing gear

and stuff to the beach. I actually received two compliments from fellow

fisherman and beach walkers, asking where I had purchased the cart. It made

the walk to the beach extremely easy to transport chairs, towels, fishing

gear, etc. Food Lion and other restaurants were within walking distance of

the house, which was great for last minute Thanksgiving necessities. The

house was stocked with board games, movies, and a Wii gaming system. Each

room included a TV with cable and DVD player. We prepared an entire

Thanksgiving meal from the full kitchen with ease. Gary and Mary went above

and beyond with a gift basket welcoming our family to the Sea’s Calling.

The gift basket included a set of Sea’s Calling “Beach” coffee mugs and a

roaster tin for our turkey. My family would highly recommend the Sea’s

Calling and look forward to our next stay!

This house offered so much more than I expected. Games were fully stocked for the kids, beach supplies, sand toys, and anything we could have possibly forgotten was available. It was very well furnished and we really enjoyed our time spent.

Excellent

  • 4 of 5

Very clean, had everything we needed except towells. Email stating there were no towells didn't come until day we arrived. It was a 2 day trip for us so we had no idea to pack until morning we arrived. If that could be stated when booking I feel that would be better. But all and all it was very nice. We very much enjoyed our stay!!!!

Very clean! Everything was as described.

  • 5 of 5

Great location! Easy walk to the beach. Close to a grocery store and shops. Pool was great. All the extras made the stay that much better. For example like having beach chairs, all the pots pans and utinsels in the kitchen. The decks were nice for relaxing and socializing. And a dip in the hot tub in the evening was a good way to cap off the night. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking. My family and I will definatley be back.
