Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Marquette - Morgan Street Cozy Retreat

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Completely Renovated In 2015, Clean And Convenient

Located in the heart of Marquette. The apartment is close to Northern Michigan University, U.P. Health Systems, various events and activities. Across the street is Harlow Park, home to the American Legion Post #44 memorial along with assorted playground equipment, large open area and a basketball court.

Across from the park is the new Marquette Food Co-op which will accommodate your grocery and deli needs.

The home is within walking distance to many activities and attractions. Mattson Park is located on Lake Superior, east of the home. Most festivals and events take place at Mattson Park, it’s much easier to walk from the house than to try to find parking at an event. Also within walking distance are various restaurants and bars.

Marquette is well known for their hiking and bike paths, access to the bike path is just south of the home across Washington Street.

Marquette has a 'Fit Strip' which is just north of the house. This includes a cross country ski trail, no need to drive, just grab your skis and walk one block north.

The home has one bedroom, one bath with a large tile walk in shower. Complete renovation in 2015, Included in the remodel was the kitchen, appliances, insulation, painting, hardwood floors, everything..., beautiful, new and clean.

Apartment has been completely renovated in 2015.

Clean, new and efficient!

Off street parking for two cars available off the alley.

We also have a VRBO 3 bedroom rental, It's located south of this unit and attached by a separate hallway. The VRBO number is 594285. It's a great home and would work out well if you have additional family or friends who would like to have their own space but still be close by.

About Barb O'Neill

We are Marquette natives we lived away while my husband was in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era, stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk. My husband is a retired carpenter and I retired from the City of Marquette along with owning my own business (Embroidery Wearhouse.) We are the proud parents of three daughters and two granddaughters. Our plan is to travel Europe and here in the US.

Barb O'Neill purchased this apartment in 1989

Why Barb O'Neill chose Upper Peninsula Michigan

This home previously belonged to our grandparents. The home has been in the family since 1923. We purchased it in 1989 and lived in it while we built our house. Central location is convenient yet offers privacy within the City of Marquette. We generally walk to restaurants, bars, the Food Co-op, Lake Superior and Mattson Park. Mattson Park is where most of the festivals are held, it's easier to walk from the house then try to find a parking spot. Park Cemetery is located just to the north of the home, access is available straight up the hill, past the American Legion. This is a cemetery but it's also a park. Beautiful trees, ponds, ski trail and monuments, it's a peaceful place to take a walk, or a bike ride.

What makes this apartment unique

The central location offers privacy yet you are still close to restaurants, bars and events. We love Marquette and all it has to offer, it's a relatively safe and friendly city.

Cozy and just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, what a cute place and perfect for my husband and I, even enough room for another couple or the kids if need be. Everything was clean and we felt right at home immediately. The bed is comfy, the shower is amazing and the location is so close to everything. Just a short walk to anything, but far enough away that the house was quiet and away from the busy rush of downtown. The kitchen even had everything I needed to make our son a few of his favorite home cooked meals while we were visiting him. We were only there a day and we already recommended this place to our friends that frequent Marquette. This is definitely a place we will stay again and again...thank you Barb, you were great to work with and made our trip hassle free!

Gracious host, wonderful unit

  • 5 of 5

Barb was very gracious with her unit in response to me screwing up my own reservation. It met our needs perfectly, and we would have loved to stay there for more days! Good location near downtown and campus, clean and new interior and exterior, all the basics provided.

A great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 nights and loved the place. Appears to be very new, and was very clean. The park across the road was enjoyed by our kids and we were able to walk to other areas of interest.

Awesome.

What a charming place! We were walking distance to pretty much everything and the apartment was clean and spacious. The pictures don't do it justice! Barb was great to deal with. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We absolutely loved our accommodations! The location is second to none.

The property was immaculate, quiet and the location was fabulous. Barbara kept in touch via email prior to our arrival and everything was awesome. Only regret was ... We wish our stay was longer because the downtown of Marquette was closed on Sun and Monday. Walking distance to downtown and to Lake Superior.

Close to most activities and adventures. Within walking distance to downtown, Mattson Park, bike path system, cross country ski trails and Lake Superior.

Morgan Street units (we have two VRBO's on Morgan St.) are one of very few rentals where you don't necessarily require a vehicle. The home is within walking distance to groceries, downtown, shopping, restaurants and Lake Superior. We have sidewalks and the bike path is just across the street, which is great for walking or bikes.
