Love the solitude
Beautiful home and great yard. I will definitely go back. One word of advice, be sure you have everything you need for your stay and top your tank off before you get there. If you’re coming from the east stop in Bryson City for your supplies.
I am so glad that you enjoyed your getaway to the mountains! Good advice-we definitely recommend stopping for groceries/supplies on your way up as the nearest grocery store is 25-30 minutes away.
Absolutely Wonderful !
Just perfect! Can’t beat the view, the cleanliness, the location to the lake. Boat rentals and dining a 2 minute walk away. The only thing I would have changed would have been to store the patio cushions in a dry place. They were wet and moldy so we couldn’t use them. But everything else was just perfect!
We are thrilled that you had an absolutely wonderful vacation! That was our goal! Thank you for the suggestion on the patio cushions-we will come up with a solution to fix that concern. I really hope that we will be welcoming you back before too long.
Can we just retire here now?
This has been our favorite cabin we’ve stayed at in the mountains! The property was very clean upon arrival. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook a good meal. There is a Keurig and coffee pot. Coffee was provided for both. The yard area in front of the cabin was the perfect place for our little girl to roam. There is an outdoor fire-pit with lots of seating and a perfect view of the lake. We made lots of s'mores down there. The jacuzzi tub was the perfect end to every day ... so peaceful and relaxing on those crisp cool nights. The Lakes End Cafe and Marina staff were all super friendly, and the food at the cafe was delicious... a must try! The cabin is probably a good 30-40 minutes from a decent grocery store but that was to be expected in the mountains. The drive up to the cabin is absolutely breathtaking. The river runs along Wayah Rd. and there are even a few waterfalls to view along the way. Tellico Gap is just a short drive from the cabin and it offers some breathtaking views of the mountains as well. The Nantahala Outdoor Center is also just a short drive away. You most likely won’t have cell service around the cabin but they do have wifi and a landline phone for your use. I’d recommend getting a general idea of the area or take a map in case your GPS doesn’t get signal. Hopefully one day we get the chance to return to Water’s Edge! This cabin felt like our home away from home and we were so sad to leave!
Thank you for taking the time to write such a descriptive review! It sounds like you had an amazing time and came home relaxed and with lots of great family stories and memories. Your home away from home will be here waiting for your return visit!
clean, wonderful staff, great views, everything you need. I do not want to tell anyone about this place, so we can keep it a secret!
Sshhh it will just be our secret then! Thank you for being such great guests and we are thrilled that you loved it so much. We look forward to having you back!
This place was everything and more! We had such a great view of the lake and being close to the marina was a bonus! It was such a nice getaway and accommodated our wedding party nicely! Highly recommend staying here!
Wow thank you so much for the high praise. I am so glad that we exceeded your expectations and that your friends and family enjoyed themselves. Congratulations again!
Great location, very convenient to the marina. Have already recommended to family members. Only problem was finding it, slightly better directions could be given.
We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and the convenience to the marina. We appreciate the family and friend referrals!! Sorry that you had trouble finding it we will review our arrival letter and make any necessary adjustments.
Each year, thousands enjoy the thrill of a rafting or kayaking trip down the Nantahala. The last eight miles of the river is one of the nation's most popular whitewater venues.
Yet when you venture up the mountain above the Nantahala Gorge, there's an entirely different Nantahala — a scenic mountain river with world-class trout fishing and, at 3000 feet elevation, a crystal clear lake with boating, fishing and all kinds of fun.
Whether you are looking for a quiet getaway or an active vacation, you'll find numerous comfortable cabins, lodges and vacation homes dotting the lake shoreline and up the mountainsides.
Once you've discovered this beautiful and peaceful corner of the Smokies, we know you'll be back — again and again. Refreshingly unsophisticated Nantahala — the real Smoky Mountains!
