Quiet, breezy, charming and an unbeatable location! Walk or ride one of the bikes to the beach, Shem Creek, and many unique and wonderful restaurants! Come relax in the beautiful, historic Old Village a few blocks from the water and sample deep southern tradition and amazing food!

THE LOCATION IS PERFECT!!!

Walk to Shem Creek and all restaurants on Coleman Blvd or ride one of the two bikes we provide! The beach is less than 2 miles away and downtown Charleston is only a 7 min drive. Some quiet southern comfort, a hammock under some old oak trees, and a 5 minute bike ride to all the seafood you can eat on Shem Creek! The apartment is located right in the middle of one of the oldest and most historic areas in South Carolina. The 54th Mass camped right down the street. The H.L. Hunley slipped into the water for the first time and the final time at the end of Pitt St, also right down the street. The cemetery right next door is full of beautiful oak trees and graves hundreds of years old. Who knows what's buried in the ground right beneath your feet, and the trees and the houses all around you were witnesses to some of the most important events in South Carolina during The Revolution and Civil War.

The Space:

Our apartment is a smaller open concept studio. There's a queen bed, dining table and chairs, kitchenette with a bar and several stools, large walk in closet, full bathroom, and a large outdoor patio (table/chairs), and an outdoor shower. The inside space is about 400square feet. It's perfect for a couple! And It has everything you will need for a stay in Charleston. There are plenty of places to sit and relax and even a hammock to take a nap. The outdoor shower, with hot and cold water, is a great way to get the beach sand off while enjoying the ocean breeze! There is a patio table with two chairs and lots of great mood lighting under the old oak trees in the backyard. This is a quiet comfortable place right in the middle of all the attractions. THE LOCATION IS PERFECT!

What's included:

We hope to have you feeling relaxed long after you've left. We have decorated it to make you feel at home. It has charm reminiscent of the Old South, but it also has some very modern amenities. TV, wireless internet, sound system, outdoor shower, and patio (the section along staircase and in front of outdoor shower), TWO BICYCLES you can use to explore, and two beach chairs are yours to enjoy. We also provide a little coffee, a few snacks, a roll of toilet paper, bath and beach towels, tea, a roll of paper towels, and some soap and shampoo.

About Michael Barnett

35 years young. I travel all over North America for work and know what it means to be comfortable on the road. I have stayed in every kind of shelter imaginable, from old tents and hostels to some of the nicest hotels in the Europe and North America.

Michael Barnett purchased this apartment in 2013

Why Michael Barnett chose Old Village

The backyard is a great place to relax. We have tables, chairs, a hammock, outdoor shower, and a projection screen we use in the summer time and during football season. In fact, during football season we host a lot of cookouts on Saturday evenings and show a game or two. Several Saturdays in the summer if its cool enough we show moves on the projector in the backyard! Guests have full access to the cottage, outdoor shower, backyard, and patio.

The location and the atmosphere of the area is incredible and very hard to beat. Its beautiful and historic and the laidback southern charm of Shem Creek will relax your soul. Not to mention you can walk or ride the bikes we provide to about 40 different restaurants, Sullivan's Island & its beach, Shem Creek, the historic old village of Mount Pleasant, and more!

Notes:
This apartment comes with two beach cruisers, and they can be used to reach a wide variety of great sites and eats near by. When you stay here, you're smack-dab in the middle of all the action! In fact, you can bike to downtown Charleston in approximately 30 minutes, if you don't mind pedaling across the Ravenel Bridge. Although it is a steep climb up the bridge on the bike path, you can look forward to an effortless decent with stunning views of the city and harbor. Once downtown, you can reach all the fantastic places to see (like the Battery and East Bay Street) in just a matter of minutes. To get to the beach, it should take approximately 15-25 minutes by bike (depending on your speed). Amazing bars and restaurants line Coleman Boulevard and Shem Creek, and they are all very close; in fact, you can walk to Shem Creek in less than 15 minutes. To get to the center of Coleman Boulevard, which is the trendy and fun restaurant scene is a 10 minute walk or 3 minute bike ride (.5 mi

A lovely stay in Mt. Pleasant

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our recent stay at Michael's place in Mt. Pleasant The apartment is small, but big enough for two people, and very comfortably furnished. We were hoping to be able to cook a few meals there, and the kitchen had enough equipment that we didn't have to eat every meal out. There's a good-quality TV and DVD player, and a good wifi signal. The neighborhood is peaceful and beautiful, with shady streets and charming houses with a wonderful mix of architectural styles. Downtown Charleston is just a short drive away, as well as Sullivan's Island, with a nice beach. One of the things we liked most were the binders that Michael provided with lots of maps and suggestions for restaurants and interesting things to do.

The only thing we were disappointed with (and it's a minor one) was the quality of the bikes provided. They're pretty heavy with only one forward gear and no hand brakes, and not well-suited for much more than a short ride around the neighborhood.

Cozy, clean and great location!

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts were lovely, and the house was clean, private, and equipped with every creature comfort we could ever need. We enjoyed some lovely evening walks in the neighborhood and were able to walk to some restaurants and shops too. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful. Everything is a short bike ride or car ride, including Sullivan's Island, Shem Creek, and downtown Charleston. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect place to stay for Charleston visit

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful little studio in Mount Pleasant. Great location, in the mornings we would walk around the cute little town, then would either go to the close by beaches in Sullivans Island or Isle of Palms. Down town Charleston is only 15 mins. away. Lots of great places to eat nearby too. Would absolutely recommend this place.

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Super adorable accommodations and excellent communication from owners. This place has everything you need and no detail was spared. The color scheme is relaxing and the bedding was a dream. The place is close to downtown Charleston and close to the beaches on Isle of Palms. Michael was an excellent host and I cannot say enough good things about him. He really does it right!!
