About the property

Remodeled 4 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom located close to quiet section of Emerald Isle

Flexible and non week rentals accepted. Rental includes our "hotel quality" linen service! Our comfortable beach home is 100 yards away from access to a quiet beach. Remodeled 4 bed/3 bath in perfect shape. Relax and enjoy full decks on both floors with ocean sounds and views. Walkable grocery, restaurants, shopping & mini golf. We want to know if something interferes with your enjoying your stay.

Absolutely No Smoking or pets. We request that guests do not smoke near the house including the decks because some smoke smell inevitably finds its way into the house and we pride ourselves on providing a "smoke-free" experience as much as possible. If you smoke outside please try not to disturb renters on the other side of the duplex.

Middle floor has a large open kitchen and dining area with seating for eight. Two sliding doors to access the porch with table and chairs. One bedroom with 2 twins, and a shared downstairs bathroom. Living area has High speed internet (30 Down/5 up) and TV with 200 Channels, in addition to Wii U + games.

Top floor has 2 queen bedrooms with access to the deck and 1 shared bathroom. The master bedroom has a king bed with private bath.

Covered parking for 2 cars and parking pad, plus large driveway with ample room for cars.

There is a short walk to the uncrowded Emerald Isle beach. This little group of houses has its own public entrance to the beach with NO public parking. Folks cannot park on our road so the only folks that use this access live in our neighborhood. The house is at the end of quiet cul-de-sac. There is essentially no traffic on our street or in front of the house. Most of the nearby houses are rentals but we haven't noticed a lot of noise or seen any big parties. The other half of the house is rented, but I know the owners well and if their house isn't being taken care of (or annoying you) call me and I will contact them. They too have a no smoking, no pets policy.

Often there is a wonderful tidal pool during low tide. As with any beach (especially one with sand bars and without lifeguards), know what to do in terms of rip tides. On Emerald Isle we don't get the monster waves you see on the outer banks, but everyone should know about rip tides. We have life jackets for anyone who isn't a great swimmer.

Emerald Isle is bike friendly with bike paths along the major roads and easy bike rental if you cannot bring your own. Bike or walk to the Emerald Plantation Shopping or Food Lion each morning to pick up a coffee or a food item. It's less than a mile away. You can walk easily to the pier via the beach (about a mile away). Emerald Isle Woods Park is also about a mile away and has a pretty view of the sound. Walking distance to water-park, cinema, shopping, mini-golf and restaurants. Canoe rentals and surf shop are also walking distance.


Access: On your left there is a public beach access. In the morning and evening the beach isn't that crowded. To get to the beach, turn right out of the house and walk to end of the street.

Fishing: The Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier is a 1.6 mile drive or a 1 mile walk on the beach to the east. Surf fishing is popular especially when the beaches are quiet.

Equipment: The house has beach chairs and the usual collection of "floaty things" as the kids call them. There are two beach carts.

Check-in/check-out: Standard Check-In time is 4pm and check-out time is 10am. These hours may be flexible depending on availability. If the house is cleaned and no one is in the house, we'll tell you and you can potentially check in as early as you like on that day.

Linens: We provide our unique "hotel quality" linen service which has our own linens. The beds will be made when you arrive and when you depart you should leave them on the beds so our cleaning people can wash them and make the beds fresh. We realize there is an extra expense for our guests but the service has served us and our guests well and led to a consistent and high quality experience for our guests. You would of course be welcome to bring your own if you preferred your own sheets. If you do please leave the original sheets out so the cleaning people can make the beds. For an additional cost we can arrange mid-stay cleaning if you desire.

Towels: Towels are available for your use. We prefer if visitors bring their own bath and beach towels if possible; your bringing towels helps us turn around the house more quickly and makes sure it is quickly ready for the next guest.

Parking: There is covered space for two cars (one behind the other). There is also a parking pad to the right where you can put another car.

Food in the House: We've tried to stock the kitchen with necessary utensils and cookware. If anything is missing, please tell us so we can address the problem. You will also find standard spices, common items (oil) and some standard fridge stuff. Thus you will find some items in the fridge. These items are left because when we have rented, we have been frustrated that cooking is hard without them and I end up doing extra runs to the grocery store. Please feel free to use anything you find. If you have food you don't want to bring home and won't spoil in the next few weeks, feel free to leave it.

Next Door: Keep in mind that we cannot control the behavior of guests who rent the other half of the duplex - and they may smoke on their decks. Please tell us if their behavior (smoking or otherwise) interferes with your enjoying your stay. Please do not park on their side (the West side) of the building


Food Lion in the nearby (0.6 miles, an 11 minute walk) Emerald Plantation Shopping Center. The prices are reasonable. Note that they are swamped on Saturday when new people arrive. And all those folks can quickly empty the fresh veggies and fruit. To get to Emerald Plantation Shopping, drive out to the main road, turn right and it is about half a mile down on the left.

Lowes Foods 321 WB McLean Dr Cape Carteret, NC 28584 (3.2 miles, 11 min drive) - A trip across the bridge; usually not necessary. They will shop for you and do delivery however.

Piggly Wiggly 715 W Corbett Ave Swansboro, NC 28584 (7 miles and 12 minutes away from the house): A convenient stop on the way in if you are coming in from Jacksonville . If you are coming in on a Saturday or Sunday it'll be much less crowded.


There is plenty of convenient Shopping on Emerald Isle including in the nearby (0.6 miles, an 11 minute walk) Emerald Plantation Shopping Center.

Hot Wax Surf and Paddle Sports Rentals 200 Mallard Drive (252)354-6466 about half a mile away that has rentals available.

Emerald Plantation Shopping Center Cinemas. It has 4 screens and usually 6 movies [yes, it does occasionally rain on the island]

Restaurants in the Emerald Plantation Shopping Center:

Burger place (Hwy 55 Burger, Shakes, and Fries),

Pizza place (Michelangelo’s). Saturday night is totally jammed. Call far far in advance!

American style restaurant (Rucker Johns) .

Easy Drive:

You can see pretty sunsets over the water at Emerald Isle Woods Park [about 1.5 miles away] - Turn left onto Reed Dr, after 0.4 mi, turn left onto Coast Guard Rd, after 0.5 mi turn right onto Cristina Ct, travel 0.3 miles and walk down the path to the water (about .3 miles)

Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium is located about 15 miles away at 1 Roosevelt Blvd., Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512 [about 30 minutes]

In the summer I enjoy my ocean kayak and ride the waves; on the flatwater I paddleboard, windsurf, kayak, and sail my inflatable kayak sailboat. At the beach I'm happy just sitting in the tidal pools and soaking in the pretty scene. My son Brian manages the renting (with some help). He's a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill.

In the winter I want to be close to the best powder skiing in the country - Alta and Snowbird. I enjoy the Salt Lake Valley and all it has to offer from food to soccer games and a tremendous airport to get you anywhere. I grew up in New England [back when it was cold] and enjoy the freshness that comes with cold.

I've been an enthusiastic photographer all my life. It started in the Berkshires and on Cape Code and ow my focus is NC and Utah. Emerald Isle's West-East orientation [strange for the east coast] yields unique and pretty sunrises and sunsets; it's worth getting up [really] early in the morning and trying to catch a seagull flying in front of the rising sun. I'd also recommend walking across the island to the sound at sunset. Late in the season you might get the sun setting on the beach side.

Utah's Wasatch too and the view of the Salt Lake valley provide lots of opportunity for picture taking any time of day and any season of the year. In the summer, trips to national parks from SLC are my favorite; our National Parks are true gems and an endless source of inspiring photos.

My family has spent weeks at beach throughout NC and we chose to buy a house on Emerald Isle because it is simply the best combination of a family friendly place that has "peace and quiet" and "something to do." I chose the location on Emerald Isle so I could easily bike to the local stores; for me the perfect early morning activity [after you take sunrise pictures].

We would love to share our house with you so you can have the same great experiences we have.

What makes this house unique

We chose to rent out the house Sunday to Sunday because Saturday at the beach is often a zoo everywhere.

Typically, when you arrive on Saturday the whole rest of the world seems to be coming too. There is a ton of traffic, the grocery store is jammed [and running out of food] and don't even think about going out for dinner [or even getting a quick pizza]. Leaving Saturday early is equally stressful and unpleasant. That's no way to start or end a vacation.

So come and leave on Sunday. Sundays are stress free on arrival and there is minimal traffic on your departure. Give a Sunday->Sunday vacation a try!

We want folks to be able to time their vacation so it can be as relaxing as possible. We've rented many houses on Emerald Isle [versus the two large rental organizations]. We want folks to have a pleasant relaxing break, not a stay that ends up so stressful that you need a vacation to recover from your vacation.

We are perfectionists about the house and want everything just right. So tell us right away if something is not right and we'll get it fixed. The salty air and sand can cause all kinds of problems; we'd rather hop on a problem quickly.

The house is beautiful and close enough to the beach for the kids to look for shells. Perfect for a large family and the kitchen worked very well for our Thanksgiving dinner. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. The owner instructions were very accurate and helpful.

Our party of 7 really enjoyed our stay at this home! Plenty of room, clean, and had all the amenities you would need for a week at the beach! Great accommodations. Fantastic location

Exactly what you want in a beach house getaway. Very easy 5 min walk along a cul-de-sac to a quiet stretch of Emerald Isle beach. Walking distance to a nice surf shop that will also deliver surf/paddle board rentals. Easy walk to a cafe open early with fresh bagels. Short drives to restaurants, markets, and entertainment. 20 minute drive to the aquarium. 3 story town house easily accommodated our families and 4 kids. Kitchen was stocked and easy to cook in for all of us. Linens provided and nice extras like beach gear and outdoor shower. Owners are great - very responsive and clearly interested in making sure their guests are having a great stay. Highly recommended and we'll definitely return.

Great vacation rental

I completely agree with the other review of the property. The owners are really easy to work with. We were looking for a place to stay at the last minute and found this. The owners were super nice to us and made sure we had no issues. The property is pretty decent and very close to the beach. Our kids had fun with the items that they have available at the place. We were glad that we stayed there

Emerald Isle is a family centered beach vacation destination for North Carolina. It features all beach essentials from Mini-Golf to numerous water sport rental companies.

Hot Wax Surf Shop is with in walking distance and offers kayak and stand-up paddle board rentals. In addition they offer surf lessons and fishing tours.

There is a movie theater in the near by shopping complex for rainy days. On Emerald Isle there many restaurants, several of which are within walking distance.
