Enjoy privacy, peace and quiet and beach access on this 2 acre peninsula, 3 bedroom home. Located at Silver Islet, an off grid cottage community adjacent to the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park you can enjoy the best this region has to offer.
This choice property is known as President's Point -where the President of the 1800's silver mine chose to locate his summer home. Once the locale of soirées including investors and royalty from Europe and the USA - now you can enjoy the beauty, peace and quiet, sun, water, beach, sauna and the historic Silver Islet community. The 3 bedroom modern bungalow house is furnished and outfitted so all you have to do is bring your clothes and food. There is open space that some have used for weddings, memorial services and community B-BQ's. There are 2 decks for full enjoyment of the surrounding stunning views. The sandy beach is just a hop-skip and a jump from the house.
The house has a kitchen with a propane stove and fridge, great room, dining area, 4 piece bathroom and 3 bedrooms with a wood stove for heating and propane lighting. Phone is available, and generator power. The property also has a wood fired sauna with a solar batch water heater and an outhouse. Water is gravity fed to the house, sauna and shed from a holding tank fed by pump from Lake Superior.
We have a fire pit set up on our beach - a favorite spot in the evening. As an off-grid location away from city lights - the stargazing is amazing with the Milky Way sometimes joined by meteor showers and northern lights.
New comfortable mattresses are in the three bedrooms - 2 have full sized beds and the large master bedroom is outfitted with a queen sized bed. The Master bedroom has a stunning view of Lake. With the windows open, you can fall to sleep listening to the gentle lapping of the water on the shore or you can watch the moon and its shimmering trail reflection in Lake Superior as the moon sinks towards the horizon. Trowbridge lighthouse light is sometimes joined by a light show of lightning and the booming thunder that gives Thunder Bay its well earned name.
If you are fortunate you will see wildlife visitors such as deer, eagles, Great Blue Herons, loons, ducks, Canadian Geese, mergansers, fox, pileated woodpeckers and the swarm of Cedar Waxwings that feast on the Saskatoon berries just off our back deck.
The fresh air will invigorate and relax you - Silver Islet is a healing place where you can unplug and reconnect with loved ones and yourself.
