About Laura Strong

I have lived in the Flathead Valley since the late 70s. I've put on hundreds, probably thousands, of miles backpacking, climbing, hiking, biking, camping, skiing and boating- when it comes to recreating- we love to go do it! Oh yes I've managed to squeeze plenty of working in there also. But any and every local will tell you- we don't live here to work- we work (as little as possible) to live in the most amazing place!

I love and know this area very well-I'll help you discover the on or off-the-beaten path adventure you are dreaming of- this place is made for dreamers.

Laura Strong purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Laura Strong chose Columbia Falls

This is a new venture for me as I head towards retirement age. After working for other companies in the hospitality industry, I thought it was time I put my own identity into sharing this wonderful valley with travelers. I have enjoyed applying my talents to redesigning this property into a welcoming, cozy camp for you. It is a work in progress, but I imagine I'll be saying that 10 years from now as well. My home is located on the property, along with a cabinet shop, next to our 4 rental cabins, so I am available if you have questions or problems.

What makes this cabin unique

Our location is so perfect to access every activity in the area- but especially Glacier National Park. We are in the northeast corner of the Flathead Valley just before the entrance to the canyon leading to Glacier. You are 15 minutes from the Park, but also only 10 minutes from Whitefish, an easy 20 minute drive to amazing Flathead Lake, and minutes from several award winning golf courses. We have three different public fishing accesses on Flathead River within 4.5 miles of us- 2 are within one mile. Whitewater rafting on the fabulous Middle Fork of the Flathead River is located in West Glacier only 15 miles up the road.

Very Nice, Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here during the second week of September. We found the cabin to be quite clean and comfortable. Everything worked fine. There are basic dishes and kitchen tools so you can cook simple meals if you are so inclined. The cabin is very close to West Glacier and the west portal to the national park. The bed is very comfortable and the cabin heat worked well during those 30 degree overnights. Overall, a great experience!!

Excellent spot to stay! Highly recommend.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 3 nights with my best friend - the space was clean and hostess was great. Laura welcomed us promptly when we arrived. The kitchen and bathroom were well equipped with everything one could need. Fresh towels, shampoo/conditioner/body wash was also included. The kitchen had all the essentials - toaster, stove/oven, coffee maker (fresh coffee), pots/pans, mini fridge, and even aluminum foil. There was a grocery store called Smith's close by (in the family brand of Kroger), to save on food costs we shopped for our food needs there, packed our lunches and snacks, and used every aspect of the kitchen for dinners. The location is about a 15 minute drive to west glacier entrance and about 1.5 hours to east glacier entrance. It was a great place to return to after a day of adventures in and around glacier national park. Super comfy bed. I highly recommend staying with Laura - you'll be in good hands.

Beautiful and comfy place to stay while visiting the park

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed for 5 nights here while we visited Glacier, and it was the perfect nook for us to spend our nights. No big frills here, but extremely clean and homey feeling, and a really friendly and attentive owner. Before our trip, Laura offered tips on hikes and things to do in the area, and she answered my emails really quickly. When we were there, she gave us all the personal space that we wanted, but when we requested a couple of things, she brought them over within minutes and chatted with us for a few. If you're looking for fancy digs and lots to do within walking distance, you probably need to stay in a Whitefish or Kalispell hotel- but that's a long drive to the park. Our view was a mountain on one side and a little horse ranch (I think) on the other. The coffee that was provided each morning got us started on the right foot.

This cabin does sit fairly close to the highway, maybe 100 feet back?, but our air-conditioning window unit gave off enough white noise that I couldn't hear traffic- and I don't think there was much traffic at night anyways. Loved that we could park the car right next to the cabin- made it feel even more like home. You're not secluded here, the cabins are fairly close, but it felt private enough. Not sure we ever saw our neighbors because I think we were all in and out all day. We felt that even though this cabin is smaller, it's layout was very nice for us to be able to lay out our personal items, our hiking gear, and our food in a way that didn't feel congested at all.

If you want a cozy and immaculate space to kick your feet up at the end of a tiring day, you want something reasonably priced, and you don't want to have to drive far for your next day's adventures, I think this is the just right place for two people to spend a vacation to Glacier. When we travel here for another vacation (this should be on everybody's bucket list), I will stay here again in a heartbeat.

Pros: Good location, well-designed space, comfy bed, good shower, great service, really clean (most important to me!)

Cons: The ONLY con I can think of is that we wish we had a little more space in the freezer to have some ice for our water bottles. Was the worst of our issues lol!

Really nice place!

  • 5 of 5

Laura was easy to work with. Enjoyed the finishes of the cabin. Nice bedding and towels also! Well equipped with everything your might need. Beautiful area, but it was 20 minutes from Glacier Park West entrance. Would stay here again if ever in the area!

We are conveniently located just 15 minutes from the airport, 15 min. from Whitefish, 15 min. from Glacier National Park, 30 minutes from the shores of beautiful Flathead Lake. We are just 1 mile from downtown Columbia Falls where you can dine, find groceries and all other necessities. Flathead River is a short 1/2 mile walk from your door. World class golfing is available at several courses in the valley.

I love living in northwestern Montana where you can still find wild adventures. White water raft down the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. Fly fishing abounds in area rivers and streams. Backpack, hike, or horseback in Glacier National Park. Visit one of our less traveled wilderness access areas- Jewel Basin, Hungry Horse reservoir, Great Bear, or Bob Marshall Wilderness.

Mountain Bikers will love the Whitefish trail system or enjoy barreling the downhill runs at Whitefish Mountain Resort. Whitefish Mtn. also offers zip lining, hiking, and other fun activities.

Just tell me what your interests are and chances are I know someone who can give you the grand tour. I've been here for decades and have been enjoying all the Flathead has to offer. Let me help you plan the perfect vacation customized for you!
