About Laura Strong

I have lived in the Flathead Valley since the late 70s. I've put on hundreds, probably thousands, of miles backpacking, climbing, hiking, biking, camping, skiing and boating- when it comes to recreating- we love to go do it! Oh yes I've managed to squeeze plenty of working in there also. But any and every local will tell you- we don't live here to work- we work (as little as possible) to live in the most amazing place!

I love and know this area very well-I'll help you discover the on or off-the-beaten path adventure you are dreaming of- this place is made for dreamers.

Laura Strong purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Laura Strong chose Columbia Falls

This is a new venture for me as I head towards retirement age. After working for other companies in the hospitality industry, I thought it was time I put my own identity into sharing this wonderful valley with travelers. I have enjoyed applying my talents to redesigning this property into a welcoming, cozy camp for you. It is a work in progress, but I imagine I'll be saying that 10 years from now as well. My home is located on the property, along with a cabinet shop, next to our 4 rental cabins, so I am available if you have questions or problems.

What makes this cabin unique

Our location is so perfect to access every activity in the area- but especially Glacier National Park. We are in the northeast corner of the Flathead Valley just before the entrance to the canyon leading to Glacier. You are 15 minutes from the Park, but also only 10 minutes from Whitefish, an easy 20 minute drive to amazing Flathead Lake, and minutes from several award winning golf courses. We have three different public fishing accesses on Flathead River within 4.5 miles of us- 2 are within one mile. Whitewater rafting on the fabulous Middle Fork of the Flathead River is located in West Glacier only 15 miles up the road.

This was the perfect cabin located in the middle of everything we wanted to see in Glacier and the surrounding areas. The cabin has everything you need and is very clean, we would recommend Laura’s cabin and definitely stay here again!

Trapline Cabins - Great Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at this charming little cabin with my son as we fished the West Glacier area. The cabin was up-to-date, super clean, well furnished, and about as perfect as it could be away from home. As a Hilton Diamond member, I stay at countless hotels across the country and my expectations are generally pretty high for cleanliness. This cabin did not disappoint!

The amenities all worked well (TV, Internet, AC). And the best part, is that you can literally park about 5 - 10 feet from the front door, so access was awesome.

The cabins are perfect for two people or a couple with small kid/s (Ms. Laura provided a roll-away bed for my son).

To end this review, I will add that Ms. Laura (the owner) was very nice and quick with the communications on access and timing. In summary, great place!

This cabin is in a great location for visiting both East and West Glaciers. It was very clean and comfortable. Laura was extremely accommodating and personable. We would highly recommend her cabin and stay there again.

Clean, quiet, and convenient

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I planned our bucket list vacation to travel West from East TN. One of our first stops was to Glacier National Park. We stayed in Cabin A at Laura's place and it was perfect! From the local coffee, cute cabin, and homey atmosphere our stay was amazing. Laura gave us excellent tips on where to eat in Columbia Falls , Three Forks Grille and Backslope Brewing, both which we highly recommended. We were also fortunate enough to be in town on a Tuesday when the Whitefish farmers market was happening so we purchased a few local goods, honey and Huckleberry jam, to take back with us and ate dinner at Ciao Mambo. Excellent stay for our new favorite National Park. We are already planning our next trip back!

Amazing, clean, and close

  • 5 of 5

Laura (the owner) was absolutely amazing, she was very kind, friendly and helpful. She provided use with a great list of hikes and things to see. The Cabin itself was wonderful! It was very clean, and had everything you might need. i.e. pots/pan/ dishes, towels etc. The location was perfect to get in and out of West Glacier easily.

We are conveniently located just 15 minutes from the airport, 15 min. from Whitefish, 15 min. from Glacier National Park, 30 minutes from the shores of beautiful Flathead Lake. We are just 1 mile from downtown Columbia Falls where you can dine, find groceries and all other necessities. Flathead River is a short 1/2 mile walk from your door. World class golfing is available at several courses in the valley.

I love living in northwestern Montana where you can still find wild adventures. White water raft down the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. Fly fishing abounds in area rivers and streams. Backpack, hike, or horseback in Glacier National Park. Visit one of our less traveled wilderness access areas- Jewel Basin, Hungry Horse reservoir, Great Bear, or Bob Marshall Wilderness.

Mountain Bikers will love the Whitefish trail system or enjoy barreling the downhill runs at Whitefish Mountain Resort. Whitefish Mtn. also offers zip lining, hiking, and other fun activities.

Just tell me what your interests are and chances are I know someone who can give you the grand tour. I've been here for decades and have been enjoying all the Flathead has to offer. Let me help you plan the perfect vacation customized for you!
