The cottage is located in a tranquil, rural setting within a small hamlet, 2 kms from the local town,18kms from the coast. Tastefully refurbished during 2006 for the 2007 holiday season, it boasts new furniture, beds, china, utensils and crisp white linens.
Set in beautiful countryside, the property hosts a large garden and facilities ideal for outdoor living during your stay, whether it be relaxing, playing games or dining al fresco.
The kitchen offers a traditional french look whilst offering all modern appliances and seating for indoor dining.
A spacious sitting room features a large stone fireplace with a wood burning stove, along with 3 comfortable sofas, one of which can be utilised as a sofa bed and Freeview English TV channels, DVD and video.
Both bedrooms are spacious, with exposed beams and offer views across the garden and surrounding countryside.
We had a wonderful time staying in this cottage recently. It really is stunning and in a perfect location for relaxing, overlooking fields or to travel to explore the surrounding area. It is perfect for dogs too as it has a huge garden and there are some lovely walks on the doorstep. It was clean upon our arrival and the lady who looks after it for the owners (Tamzin) was lovely, even bringing us some of her chickens eggs and a bottle of local wine to taste.
There are all the ameneties you could wish for (Dishwasher, washing machine, micowave, large fridge freezer etc) and the water pressure in the shower is good.
There are only 4 other cottages in the hamlet and the residents are lovely. If you want peace and quiet this this is the place for you.
Whilst the cottage has 2 bedrooms upstairs, the second one is accessed via the first. This wasn't a problem for us but may be something to think about.
There is a brand new wood burner which the owners have just fitted too.
The cottage is situated close to numerous places which are well worth a visit.
La Rochelle is only an hour away and is a beautiful port town, full of enchanting little streets and reasonably priced restaurants. Eating along the front by the marina is slightly more expensive, but great if its the buzz you are after.
Ile D'Oleron is about 50 minutes away and well worth a visit as is Royan which has a wonderful beach is around 20 minutes away.
We made a trip to Bordeaux which is just over an hour away. It is worth nothing that if you want to visit the wine regions there is a ferry which leaves regularly from Royan to Port De Grave and will save you a lot of driving, although it isnt cheap.
The village of Meursac is 2 or 3 minutes drive from the cottage or you could walk there off road through the fields and wooded areas. In Meursac there is a Co-op, a beautiful old church and a fabulous restaurant called La Table. They do a fixed price lunch which is lovely and cost us 10 Euros including wine. They have a number of other menu options too and are certainly worth visiting. There is also a swimming pool in Meursac which is open on Wednesday afternoons and a great boulangerie and charcuterie too.
All in all I would definately recommend this cottage. It is top class and full of character, we loved it and am going to go back there next year.
The perfect location if you are looking for rest and relaxation. A perfect cottage with a large garden complete with fruit trees, perfect for dogs (well fenced but with a few gaps in the hedge if your dog is an escape artist)
The cottage is surrounded by open farmland perfect for dog walking, there 5 other cottages all with friendly french residents.
The property was very clean, well maintained and well equipped. It could have perhaps benefited from a little more storage for food in the kitchen but the cottage has a good size fridge/freezer and good oven.
Large rooms well laid out throughout with very comfortable beds lots of space for clothes storage and nice linen and towels. The shower also worked well with good water pressure.
The local village of Meursac has an excellent restuarant La Table reasonably priced open for lunch and dinner most days. Most supplies can be brought in the village, it has a small shop, butcher and baker and the local shop has a van which visits Chez Suire daily.
The bikes were a welcome addition and useful if you want to visit the many surrounding villages.
The coast is approx. 20 minutes drive which will take you to Mortagne, Talmont or Merschers all well worth a visit.
Our english housekeeper was very helpful, nothing was to much trouble for her, she visited weekly to change the linen. She was also happy to share her local knowledge with us.
Before we booked our holiday we decided we wanted a totally french experience this cottage provided that andexceeded our expectations.
We would not hesitate to recommend it and hope to return ourselves.
We had a wonderful week in your beautiful house and garden. Its perfect for families and has a great setting. The ocean is not far away and you can get there in 20 minutes with a car. The housekeepers were very friendly. Our dog was happy too.

Located in the peaceful hamlet of Chez Suire, in a rural country area, just 2 kilometres from the small pretty town of Meursac. Meursac offers a public outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, mini golf , local bar and good restaurant, along with a number of shops including butcher, baker, chemist, hairdresser, small supermarket.
Three golf courses are located within a 40 minute drive from Chez Suire (Saintes, Royan, Cognac), as well as fishing in the Saujon area just 12kms away.
Royan only 18 kilometres from the cottage, offers large, magnificent beaches, an array of shops, restaurants and bars, boat trips and water sports as well as numerous other activities associated with a large costal area.
Saintes is a beautiful riverside town just 20 kms from the property and features a large local street market on the first Monday of each month.
The historical port of La Rochelle is the nearest airport and offers an interesting and varied day trip approximately 1 hour away (78 kms).
