From the moment you enter the grand entrance in this recently renovated lodge on 5 acres, you will be greeted by the two level massive granite stone fireplace. Three of the four bedrooms have contained ensuites and two levels of the home are surrounded by decks to enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. Kitchen is well equipped with Viking stove, Bosch dishwasher and Subzero fridge. Laze away the day on the private dock, play with paddle boards on the lake, bring your own motorboat and park it at the private dock, go golfing at Sudden Valley, ski Mt. Baker, hike the Northwest Mountains, shop in Bellingham or in Seattle for the day and explore all the must see places like La Conner, Fairhaven and much more. You decide how busy you will be!

About Dolores Madaisky

The owners are two married couples from Canada. One of the owners spent her childhood growing up on Lake Whatcom and therefore, knew the area very well.

This property was a unique property on Lake Whatcom. The fact that it is a glorious five acres with 400 feet of lake front made it one of the most precious properties.

What makes this lodge unique

When we saw the view from the massive decks and then went inside the house and saw the beautiful log walls and the vaulted ceilings and the beautiful fire place we were in love. The massive bedrooms, unlimited storage and views from all levels of the home makes us stand in awe every time we visit.

Beautiful property & Views

Rented this property for a family reunion. Owner met us when we arrived, showed us the home, rooms, kitchen and outdoors. Beautiful and very well equipped! The site worked great for all of us to have space together but not on top of each other. Loved the lake, views from decks sand very comfortable bedrooms! Unable to give 5 stars because of two reasons: Although this is a large home and able to used and advertised number of bedrooms the owner restricts actual use because of the sewer/septic system. It was ok for our group, but you must be aware that it is a major concern with the owner! Also we had people coming from many different states so that meant several cars - of which that also greatly concerned the owner. We worked it out with her and it all went well, but really should not have been such an issue for a large property rental. (There was plenty space for parking our 4 vehicles, so it wasn't dangerous or impacted the environment.) The second issue was handling of the deposit, payment and return of deposit. Property is in Washington, US, owner lives in Canada. She doesn't use paypal or other credit card payment process but checks only, meaning you have to send it snail mail to Canada. I have no idea how she got my checks to deposit ok on her end but it took 9 weeks plus -$80 of 'banking fees' to get her check for my security deposit to process through Bank of America - even though it was in US dollars but from a Canadian bank! Maybe they don't rent often enough to establish a better system, but it was frustrating by the delays of the process and fees it cost me to get my security deposit returned. I do want to say that the owner is delightful, very pleasant to work with, but beware of how protective she is about the septic system, parking and banking!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review - we appreciate your feedback! We certainly wish we could accommodate more people (both personally and for our guests), given the wonderful size and special setting of this home. However, given that the property is serviced by a septic system, as opposed to a municipal sewer system, we are limited as to the number of people who can be on the property at any one time by the capacity of the septic system. We just installed a new septic system this past summer at a substantial cost, and we want to ensure that the system functions without incident for many, many years to come. We make sure that all of our guests are well aware of the limitation on the number of guests prior to accepting any booking, so that there are no surprises. As for the number of cars, we do not limit the number of cars – just the number of people. We apologize if there was any misunderstanding regarding the cars. As for the banking, most bookings are far enough in advance that we receive all payments from our guests by personal cheque – to date, this has worked very well and without complaint. The security deposit is always sent back to our guests shortly after the stay has ended, and is paid by way of a cheque drawn on our U.S. dollar account maintained in Canada with Scotiabank, which is consistently ranked as one of the biggest and strongest banks in the world. We always make sure to mail the cheque from the U.S. (often making a special trip across the border just to mail the cheque), in an effort to make sure the cheque arrives quickly. We have no explanation as to why the cheque would have taken so long to arrive at its destination and/or why your bank would have taken so long to clear the cheque and charge what appears to be an unreasonable fee just for cashing the cheque – other than to say that this appears to be typical behavior of a big bank!! In any event, we apologize for the inconvenience that this caused you, and in the future we will consider upgrading the mail service that we use, at our cost, to try and get security deposit cheques back to guests even quicker, or consider some alternative methods. Again, thank you very much for your feedback. We are very pleased that you otherwise enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure to have you as our guests!

Exceptional Property - Beautiful Home, Amazing Views, Spacious, Very Clean, Extremely Comfortable!

This is an amazing property! The home is beautiful, spacious, very clean and extremely comfortable. We especially enjoyed the amazing mountain lake views from all levels of the home. The decks are wonderful - it was so nice to step outside into the fresh air and beauty of God's amazing artwork! It is very quiet and peaceful - a perfect place to relax. We saw deer near the house and an eagle flying nearby one morning! We highly recommend this home. It is better than described! Everything was great. Thank you, Pat & Dolores, for your hospitality and the pleasure of staying in your beautiful home. We hope to return again, possibly next summer.

Amazing property

Dolores and Pat have one of the best properties we've ever stayed at for a summer getaway. It is completely private and the property is very big. House is extremely clean and well stocked. You will need to bring NOTHING other than clothes and your food. They have spices, oils, paper towels, zip lock bags, Tupperware, and pretty much anything a common household will need for use. We've been to many of these vacation properties and a lot of times you will require to go back to the store and get little this and that (not at Dolores and Pat's).

They have provided many things for a big family to do here. I can't list them all. We had too much fun and 4 days here was just not enough. If we come back we will book 6-7 days instead. There is a golf course extremely close (minute drive away) by which the golfers in our group will bring there clubs next time. The equipment they provided to enjoy the lake was a bonus. All items were in excellent condition.

Honestly my family and I could go on and on about all the things that are in this special place but I'll just have to say go and find out for yourself. Price is very reasonable for the size and condition of this property/house. Will easily fit 3 families and still comfortably fit 4 smaller families however check with the owners as they do have limit on the number of individuals. I highly recommend this home to anyone in the local area (Vancouver/Seattle). This private lake summer setting is only 1.5hour drive away from Downtown Vancouver.

I will state that if there is an individual in your group who has a walking disability, it maybe harder for them to enjoy the lakefront as there are a number of stairs plus sloped pathway to access the lakefront area.

Perfect for our family reunion

This property is absolutely perfect for our family reunion! We simply cannot have asked for a better location- it is peaceful and quite, with million dollar views from many rooms and the massive decks, and yet it is so close to Bellingham if you need to go to town. Many walking trails nearby, which we really enjoyed. The many amenities, such as the ping pong table, free weights, stationary bicycle, not to mention the canoe and paddle boards, as well as a perfectly equipped kitchen with high end appliances really make one feel at home. Three of the five rooms have ensuite bathrooms while the remaining two share the fourth bathroom. The beds are heavenly. This house is over 5000 sq ft, so there is absolutely enough room for everyone to have privacy if needed, yet the kitchen and the dinning room with the gorgeous lake view is where everyone tend to gather. We absolutely love this place and would like to return again. Pat and Dolores are excellent owners to work with.

Perfect Family Getaway!!!

Just came back from the perfect family getaway!!! The house is spacious and beautiful with the most spectacular view. The lay out of the house/bedrooms is perfect and the beds are SUPER comfortable. We quite enjoyed the many amenities this wonderful place has to offer... canoe, paddle boarding, fishing and swimming. A great place for a family of 12... We enjoyed ourselves very much and highly recommend to anyone wanting a quiet getaway :)

Lake whatcom is a large lake just a stone's throw away from bellingham and it's beautiful fresh markets, great restaurants, antique shops, coffee shops and wonderful shopping.

The lake itself is a haven for all water activities such as sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking, water skiing of all descriptions or just lazing on a floatable getting a great tan.

The resort of sudden valley is a minute drive from our property and hosts one of the nicest golf courses in the northwest area.

The mountains that back our property are great for hiking and exploring.
