If you are looking to unwind in Marfa, you've come to the right place. Located in the Brite Addition of northwestern Marfa, My Casita features exposed adobe walls, a full bath with tub, kitchenette with table, hotel style air conditioning and heat, custom made queen bed, and a private courtyard.
The Brite Addition of Marfa is adjacent to the historical Brite Ranch, which provides pasture views for miles to the north and west. The neighborhood is composed of Mid century and Modern homes on large lots, some on entire blocks. My Casita faces west and is behind a larger contemporary adobe home. It has its own entrance and enjoys privacy from the main residence. All renovation improvements were professionally done with great attention to detail and comfort.
The walled courtyard is the perfect place to enjoy coffee in the morning and a beverage at sunset while you grill. Relax on the sofa with a book in the comfort of air conditioning or surf with WiFi while watching TV. The kitchenette provides most everything one needs for simple meal preparation. The full bath has nice contemporary fixtures and storage.
My Casita is professionally Managed by Far West Texas Realty. Lauren Meader Fowlkes is a licensed Realtor with a real estate brokerage based in Downtown Marfa.
Enjoy the peace and quiet of Marfa with the standard of quality expected in a nice hotel. This Casita was constructed with a high level of craftsmanship that will satisfy the discriminating traveller. Just under a mile from the courthouse you can walk to dinner, the Mim's Ranch, coffee or around the neighborhood for relaxation.
Close to downtown, but far enough for quiet and privacy. Established neighborhood with greater spacing between houses.
Property had everything you need from corkscrew to dish detergent and everything in between. Lovely, quiet and cozy. Would hope to book again!
My Casita is pretty great. It's the perfect size for two people, the bed nook is super cozy, the kitchenette is well equipped and the bathroom is spacious. The TV is a bit wonky and the wifi stopped working our last night, but we didn't care because we weren't really using either of those things. The house was very clean save a preponderance of small bugs (no idea what they are) and we only had one encounter with a scorpion, so I'd say that's really good for Marfa. Checking in was super easy (they just left the keys for us in the house), and the homeowner is right next door in the main house and she is very nice.
Originally I was disappointed that My Casita didn't have a full kitchen & was so far from town (it's on the edge of the range, basically. I had looked at the map incorrectly (face palm) and thought it was further east next to Chinati) but then I realized that we wouldn't be eating in at all because Marfa food options have greatly improved over the last couple of years and we had a car so it was easy to get around. If you can, check out Stellina, the everything toast a Do Your Thing, old faithful Frama, tacos & burgers at Boyz2Men/Hombres and of course a plate of nachos at Planet Marfa. The house has a great welcome packet that has all of the "Marfa Time" hours for businesses and ideas for day trips.
I would totally stay here again on future trips. I loved My Casita more than I thought I would.
I can't think of any negative things about this place. It really has all you need to stay comfortably for a few days. My husband used the grill and cooked three of our meals (breakfast and lunch). We walked from the house into the main part of town and I loved exploring Marfa. We will be back and this place seems to be the best deal!
A small cozy, very private, well appointed space (a freestanding casita) with lots of light and broad views of high dessert, distant homes on the edge of town, but within a 10 minute drive of or pleasant walk to downtown. Good use of space inside with a full bath and kitchenette with sink, microwave, coffeemaker (including coffee, milk cream, etc), cutlery, table for two and under counter refrigerator, which had plenty of room for our supplies, wine, etc. Upgraded fixtures, cute couch and exposed adobe wall used to demarcate bedroom gave character to the space. U-shaped arrangement with bedroom in niche looking into living room and bathroom on other side of living room - we liked that since we could leave a nightlight on to find bathroom, but not have it interfere with sleep. Fenced yard with grill. All appliances and heat in good working order, although the heater/air unit was somewhat noisy (like a motel unit). Great area to run and walk in- saw quail, road runners, antelope tracks...heard coyotes singing at night. We were initially somewhat concerned about the somewhat long list of rules in the rental agreement and the $500 security deposit required, however, we did receive our refund within a week of departing. Perhaps these requirements are customary with VBRO? All in all a very positive experience and the cost was far less than the hotels in Marfa. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
My Casita was peaceful and well appointed with pretty much everything that we needed. Check-in and out was super easy and just as described. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. It's not really outfitted for much cooking - but we did a yummy salmon and butternut squash in the microwave. I highly recommend a stay at My Casita!
I live in Marfa and I rented My Casita for friends who were visiting town over Chinati weekend. They LOVED it - It's the perfect little getaway spot with a warm, homey vibe. Super clean. Great bed. Situated on the north west edge of town, it is very quiet and you can enjoy dirt road walks to catch the sunset and the stargazing can be spectacular. The property manager is very professional and easy to get a hold of and work with. I would definitely rent it again for friends and family or for myself!
