Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Bridport - The Old Stable

In the middle of BRIDPORT TOWN

This compact charming town cottage is tucked away in a quiet lane, in the heart of Bridport town. It is no more than a few minutes walk from bakers, butchers, greengrocers, restaurants, shops and pubs. There are street markets twice a week and car parks are close by. This period cottage is in the heart of Bridport which has a rich industrial heritage of net and ropemaking and only 1.5 miles from the beach at West Bay. It is furnished to an attractive and very comfortable standard and is light, bright and full of character. It is ideal to use as a relaxing 'hideaway' or a base for a walking or beach holiday as there are many places of interest along the famous 'Jurrassic coast' and Chesil Beach. Explore the beautiful dorset countryside and enjoy the good locally produced food.

See details in rental notes. This compact town cottage comprises: stable door to beamed kitchen/diner with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, washer/dryer. On the ground floor an attractive wrought iron spiral staircase which is steep and narrow, so not ideal for those with mobility difficulties, opens out onto the first floor Bed/Sitting room. This double aspect, bright sunny room has a sitting area and a double bed, TV/DVD/CD. Off this is a large bathroom with w.c. washbasin, bath with shower over.Tall people may find the height of the showerhead a bit restrictive. A range of wardrobe and shelved cupboards and dressing table.

As this cottage is in the middle of town it has NO outside space. However,Bucky Doo Square is a short walk away with its cafe atmosphere. (Small cafes operate here selling many types of coffees and tempting cakes and savories).

Surrounding the square there is a Butchers,Wine bar with Wi-Fi,Pub,Greengrocers, Healthfood shop,Hardware shop and Bookshops. Bicycle hire is also available in West Road., Long stay car parking is a 5 minute walk away and cost £2.80 a day

Such a lovely cosy hideaway. We had a really great time.

  • 4 of 5

A really comfortable, character-filled property. The bed was comfortable, the property was really well equipped and located. There isn't any free parking but nearby car parks do the job. The town is lovely and the beach at nearby West Bay is beautiful too. For a much needed couple of nights away this was perfect and we would highly recommend it.

Excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

I want to echo everything the previous reviewer has said. This is a very comfortable property for two people. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped, making it very easy to prepare meals. The bedroom has two large comfortable armchairs, and the excellent large bathroom off the bedroom has a large dressing space with cupboards etc. which gives a spacious feel to the upstairs. The welcome pack of food and jams was much appreciated. The location is very central-Bridport has a large supermarket and many small shops and eating places. Transport connections are very good-there was no need for a car, and we could walk down to West Bay and the coast path. Altogether a great, thoughtfully and well-maintained place to stay. We had a very relaxing week exploring Dorset.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

  • 5 of 5

Have just had a peaceful, relaxing week in this perfectly situated cottage. Everything you need is provided including welcome pack on arrival, milk bread etc. Clean and well-maintained. Easy access to town centre, where there are many eating places to suit all. Also the cottage is situated superbly for visiting the various places of interest in the surrounding areas. Would just like to add that the listing description and picture gallery for this property do not do it justice. There is an amazing bathroom/dressing area and the kitchen is equipped to a very high standard. And not forgetting the very bright and airy lounge/bedroom. Excellent value for money!!!
