We inherited this 100 year old property and moved here in 2003. We are retired, and working locally. My husband is the Garfield County Tourism Representative around the world for our beautiful area. I work at the local elementary school We raised seven children and now have 19 grandchildren. We were born and raised in Utah but lived in several other states. My husband is a Navy Captain and is very patriotic. We love yard work, hiking, the canyon, and the close knit community we live in.
Our home is located under the escarpment of Bryce Canyon which is 12 miles away. The drive to and from is always an enjoyable one. The views from our home feature red rock formations and the white mountains as well as the small town country setting with sheep, cows, horses etc. It is a peaceful small town of only 150 residents, quiet, beautiful and a place of healing from the noise and crowds of city life.
We love to stay away from tourist areas but close enough to get there in a decent amount of time. This guest house fit the bill perfectly. We stayed two nights. The house was spotless clean when we arrived. We cooked breakfast and dinner each day and had all we needed to prepare and cook the meals. The bedroom queen bed was comfortable and my daughter said the same about the bed in the main living area. My 12 year old son owned the loft area and absolutely loved hanging out up there. We really appreciated the large bathroom with plenty of room to change clothes.
The drive to the gate at Bryce Canyon was 20 minutes tops. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated . . . more than I would have expected. Close to Bryce, yet far enough away to not be in the crowds. Also right outside Escalante National Monument (for shorter hikes that complemented our longer Bryce hikes). Would be happy to recommend to anyone looking to explore the area!!
Very well appointed place. Close to many great activities. Do not miss Willis creek hike through a beautiful slot canyon.
We stayed three nights at the Country Bunkhouse, and were very happy to have chosen this great accommodation. The description and photos on the listing are accurate, but it is even better in real life. The location was perfect for us - quiet little town close to plenty of hiking opportunities. We enjoyed long hikes in Kodachrome Basin State Park and Bryce Canyon NP, and went for a slot canyon hike in nearby Willis Creek. The cottage itself is cozy, immaculate, spacious for two people, with amazingly comfortable beds and a great shower for after all the hiking. Cherie was easily accessible by message, and we enjoyed meeting her and her husband - very nice hosts! If we return to the area on a future trip, this will certainly be our first choice of accommodation. Thank you, Cherie!
This cute guesthouse seems bigger on the inside than what you see on the outside. There was lots of bed space and the loft would be perfect for sleeping kids (an adult could not sit up straight up there).
The kitchenette was small but works well for quick easy meals. No dishwasher - plan on hand washing. There was a small stove with oven, small microwave, small refrigerator (no freezer), toaster oven and sink.
The bathroom was very spacious. Loved the deeper than average tub for soaks after a long day of hiking. The kitchenette and bathroom were well stocked with dishes, pans, utensils, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, towels, etc...
What struck me the most was how clean it was. After noticing how clean the baseboards were, I started to look around TRYING to find something with dust on it. No spiderwebs in the corners, no dust on railings/picture frames. I'm very impressed!
We appreciated the binder with all the information we needed for our stay: Info on local attractions, Info on the guest house and it's history, wifi, how to check out.
The owners are very nice and personable, and were available to answer questions.
We would definitely stay there again!
We stayed here while visiting Bryce Canyon. The cottage is wonderful. We felt like family...rather than guests. Will definitely try to stay again when in the area.
