avel about 3 times a year to Paris for business. Convenience is my
priority. This is my first time at the Xavier Privas, I find it to be
perfect. Last year, I rented at the 5th Arrondissement around rue Mouffetard
but it was just too far. From the Xavier Privas, I can walk everywhere. It
is safe walking around the area, unlike sine of the other neighborhoods. The
studio was meticulously clean. Samy was so polite, always answering by "yes
sir" & "no sir", a kind of courtesy that we are unaccustomed to in the US.
My wife and I stayed at this property the week of Christmas 2016. We came to Paris hoping to have easy access to the main sights in the city. This Apartment's location is PERFECT! We could easily walk to Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Rodin Museum, and dozens of other popular destinations in less than 30 minutes. If you don't want to walk, the Metro is about 50 meters away from your front door.
The Apartment is Clean, safe, and well appointed. The bed was especially comfortable and the fridge was helpful for bringing back drinks and food. I would recommend to anyone, the value you get for this property is phenomenal!
I spent four nights in the studio apartment traveling solo on my first visit to Paris. The location was perfect for siteseeing in the Latin Quarter. Notre Dame and Shakespeare and Company bookstore were within a five minute walk, even closer was the metro and RER. I took the hop on/hop off bus tour, and the stop was at Notre Dame, so catching the bus both days couldn't have been easier. The apartment itself was on a busy narrow pedestrian-only street with many busy restaurants, but after entering the courtyard to the apartment, you leave the noise from the street and climb a fairly easy winding stairway to the second floor. Anyone with mobility issues may have trouble, but the stairway added to the charm. The apartment is a studio, not large, but certainly a very good space for the price and location. The bed was comfortable, the little kitchen nook provides dishes, cutlery, a refrigerator, and microwave, and the bathroom was small but the shower was decent in size. I would suggest more, or heavier blankets for winter guests, but I definitely would stay here again.
After long days of sightseeing and walking, sometimes all you want is to unwind in the comfort of the room that you paid good money for. I will say that the description of the place is accurate: studio, sleeps 2, kitchenette (microwave and refrigerator) and bathroom and in a good location to get basically anywhere in Paris using the metro. However, the place is tiny, as in, I felt cramped and claustrophobic by the time we got settled in. The bathroom, also tiny, has a water heater that can sustain hot water for a 6 minute shower tops! My wife and I had to do very quick showers at night and one in the morning just to get a somewhat hot shower. The kitchenette is really just a refrigerator because we couldn't figure out how to use the microwave. I only say this because since the day I purchased my stay to the day I got there, I received roughly about 10 different emails with instructions and tips for getting around Paris and not one thing on how to work the microwave. These emails also seemed to be coming from 2 different people so most of the time I was unsure who I should be emailing with questions. In addition, we got all of this 'secret' information to enter the premises a week before our arrival and it turns out that one of the doors with a punch code isn't even needed. The door is essentially broke. We were able to walk right in to the plaza area of the apartment complex by just pushing on a door. Not as safe as it sounded from the email. Mind you, this is in one of the most populated tourist areas of Paris where you have all different sorts of people condensed into a couple city blocks hanginh out for drinks, food, souvenir shopping. A prime spot to to be robbed, even in the 'safety' of your VRBO studio or at best to be constantly harassed by the restaurant and shop owners selling you their product on the way to the studio. This also means that you cannot expect the area to be quiet at night either. Every night of our stay we could hear people in adjacent apartments making noise and talking at all hours of the night. I don't think I got one good of night sleep there. Lastly, you have to pay a cleaning fee to the people that maintain the premises. However, when we walked through the door, the price had increased. Scamming us out of money? It certainly felt like it. This place was overpriced and in my opinion you could find a 2 star hotel for the same price with better amenities and comfort.
The best thing about this rental is the location. It is in the heart of an area of Paris that all tourists want to see. You are within short walking distance to Notre Dame, Louvre, Pantheon, Sorbonne, Luxembourg Gardens, many museums and wonderful restaurants. We discovered (with the help of a local--a wonderful young woman on the train) the location of the elevator to and from the train platform we needed to access for transportation to Charles De Gaulle. This elevator is located about a block and a half towards the river from the front door of this apartment building. The beauty of this is that you do not have to fight with your suitcases on the many flights of stairs getting up and down to the train platform. This in itself is reason enough to want to rent this prime location. The bed is comfortable--it is clean--but the apartment is extremely small for two people. You better have a warm relationship because there is basically no privacy for anything private. You use the same sink for washing dishes (if you dirty any) and washing up or brushing your teeth. Not the greatest--in my humble opinion! It is a quiet location being on the interior of the building with the window looking out to the courtyard. This is very important since the neighborhood is very noisy in the evening. Never fear---you hear no street noise in this apartment. Very QUIET!
So much history in one little apartment! We loved the location and the apartment was all that we needed. It is a little small but you adapt pretty quickly and you can't beat the location. Close to Notre Dame cathedral, shops, restaurants and everything you could possibly need! Paris is beautiful and it was nice to have such a centrally located apartment to call home during our stay.
You will be in the heart of historic Paris, walking distance to all monuments and site seeings, cafe sipping at terraces. We recomend a boat trip on La river Seine... Magical!
