Enjoy the privacy of your own large, 4 BR, 2 story house! It comfortably fits 10 people & is located on a quiet street, close to USM & Deering Oaks Park. Plenty of parking, close to bus route and 1.5 miles from Portland's Old Port.

Check-in is 4pm, check-out is 11am. If we do not have guests right before or after, we can be flexible. Please contact us to discuss any special requests.

DISTANCES:

- 3.2 miles to Airport

- 1.4 miles to Portland Museum of Art in the Arts District/Downtown

- 1.8 miles to Exchange St in the Old Port (approx $5 cab ride)

- 0.5 miles to Portland Sea Dogs Stadium

PLEASE NOTE: We have a strict 4 night minimum during Summer Season if your reservation request includes Friday and Saturday nights. However, if you'd like to book MIDWEEK, we are offering a 2-night minimum if you stay sometime between Monday - Thursday. Please contact us for further information.

Make yourself at home in this spacious four bedroom house. The second floor has four bedrooms and a full bathroom with tub/shower and dual sinks. The first floor has lots of sunlight in the open concept dining/living room, a fully stocked kitchen with all modern appliances and a 3/4 bath with standing shower. The house has off-street parking, WiFi, washer/dryer.

All bedrooms have a Queen pillow top mattress with Egyptian cotton sheets, a desk and closet with shelving. Linens, towels are provided.

The four bedrooms comfortably sleep 8 people and there is a futon in the living room for 2 additional people.

You will have access to entire house. Please make yourself comfortable. There is WiFi for internet and each room is equipped an Ethernet wall outlet to plug directly into the cable internet.

The kitchen has 2 refrigerators and there are multiple pantries for dry goods.

There is plenty of free (no time limit) on-street parking as well as off-street parking at the house.

My husband and I do not live at the house. However, we live in town and can be available to answer any questions or concerns you may have. The house has a keyless front door lock and you will be given a code upon arrival. If we do not have a listing immediately before or after you, we are flexible regarding check-in and check-out times. Feel free to send a note if you have specific needs/requests.

The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful. Directly across the street is a renovated elementary school and most of the surrounding homes are single family. The house is 2 blocks from the USM Portland Campus and Deering Oaks Park, less than 1 mile from Maine Medical Center and Portland's downtown.

From April to November the Portland Farmer's Market takes place every Saturday at Deering Oaks from 7am - 2pm. Dozens of farmers sell their goodies. I highly recommend it!

A half mile away is Baxter Boulevard - a wonderful 4 mile trail that circles Back Cove with a gorgeous view of the Portland City scape.

You are a half hour walk (or five minute drive, 1.5 miles) to the Portland Museum of Art, Arts District, the Old Port and other wonderful parts of the city.

The house is located near the bus route and there are lots of taxi companies in town for help with getting around. There is off street parking and free 24 hour on street parking at the house. Downtown Portland has plenty of metered parking and parking garages too.

Please make yourself comfortable and treat our home with respect. Pick up after yourself, especially in the kitchen!

No smoking indoors or within 20 feet of the house (no smoking on front or back porches). No pets. Keep the house as clean and neat as you found it. No parties. Quiet hours are 10pm - 9am. Please be respectful of the house. No unregistered guests allowed to stay at the house.

We have a partially finished basement that we have allowed a friend to live in. He has his own entrance/exit and the space is completely contained. He will NOT be using any part of the house during your stay. However, you may see him come and go from the back of the house. He is a very nice young man (30's) and has a black female lab named Nugget. He often stays at his girlfriend's apartment. Although his situation does not interfere with the private house rental, if someone decides to do laundry in the basement, it's entirely possible you may hear Nugget or Andy down there and wonder what on earth is going on! LOL.

Again, his room is completely contained and does not interfere with the private rental nature of the house. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

About Owner/Manager

We are South Portland residents with a great passion for traveling, good food, live music, great friends and the ocean. I am a full-time studio artist, creating beautiful, sustainably sourced fine jewelry and Scott, my husband is a full-time lobsterman out of Casco Bay.

I grew up in NH and moved to Portland in 1995 to go to college. I returned in 2001 after some traveling and never looked back (I love it here)! Scott is a born and raise Mainah and most of his family still live in the area.

We have been using Homeaway for our own traveling pursuits for years now and thought it would be a perfect fit for opening our rental property to others.

Owner/Manager purchased this house in 2006

Why Owner/Manager chose Portland

We purchased this property as a foreclosure and then spent the following 2 years completely gutting and remodeling the entire house. We considered moving into the house but it is far too large for two people. Instead of selling the house, we have decided to offer it's amazing location and space to travelers looking to visit Portland, ME.

The house has been completely re-done except for the original floors. It's beautiful!

We still have some work to do on the garage and the outside. Right now they are not very "user-friendly". However, over the next couple years, the garage will be remodeled and the backyard will get a face lift (new patio, pergola, etc).

What makes this house unique

Convenient to downtown, grocery stores, the highway. Plenty of parking. Can sleep up to 10 people. Great neighborhood.

Comfortable, spacious, and spotless rental!

This house was a breath of fresh air. Spacious, and cozy, we fit 10 comfortably for three days. It was the perfect location for a group, long weekend visit to Portland. Grocery stores nearby, downtown/Old Port a 25-minute walk or 5-10 minute Uber drive away. The living space was open and well-suited for 10 guests to congregate in the living room or at the dining room table. Every one of us loved the house and felt our rooms/linens/towels were clean and comfortable. I would be back in a heartbeat-- maybe the next time I'm in Portland!

An added benefit was the courteous and responsive owner, Chaya. She was very communicative and clear on instructions, left chocolates on all of our pillows, and even took care of packages I sent to the house in advance. She was so great to communicate with!

Thank you again, and we hope to have an excuse to be back soon.

Lovely house in a quiet residential area

A lovely property in a quiet residential area. We stayed with another family, 8 of us in total, and there was plenty of room for all of us to live comfortably. The house was fully equipped with all the necessary items.

The house is a 30 min walk or a quick cab ride (we used Uber to get to most places) from downtown Portland, making it an ideal spot for seeing all the town has to offer. The baseball park is 10 mins walk away as is Deering Oaks Park and the unmissable Holy Donut!

I'd also like to thank Chaya for the great communication during the booking process and whilst we were there. A great experience all round!

Convenient, clean, & comfortable

We stayed at Chaya's home while visiting friends in Portland. It was just what we needed--convenient, clean, and comfortable. It is very basic, nothing fancy or high-end, but with three kids that is perfect for us. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Chaya.

Nice place to stay in Portland!

I had a great stay at this house while visiting Portland with a few friends. There were 8 of us in total, and it was more than comfortable. The downstairs is very spacious and open while the kitchen was large and well stocked. Coming from all different locations, we had 8 separate cars and street parking was not an issue. The house is on a quiet street very close to downtown- not really walkable, but easily accessible to get to via cab or uber. There is no AC in the house which was a bit challenging given the hot summer we have had, but each of the rooms were set up nicely with large fans that helped quite a bit. The owner Chaya was a pleasure to work with. Would definitely consider renting again when making a trip to Portland!

Great house for a group!

We rented this house for a girls trip and fit 10 people plus a 1 year old into the house. It was a great location, not too far from Downtown Portland and easy to find. The owners were great to work with, they called after our arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. We needed a couple of extra sets of towels as we were utilizing the futon for a bed and they didn't leave enough for those two people. Not a problem though, they brought towels over within a couple of hours. The kitchen could use a few more tools and a non-stick pan, but other than that, we were well stocked. The futon wasn't the most comfortable for sleeping, but the owners had extra blankets in the closet of each room, so we used those to make the futon more comfortable. Overall a great stay! And if anyone is apprehensive about the guy that lives in the basement - he's super nice, has a cute dog and he wasn't there much while we were there. I would have left too if I were him - 10 women taking over the house above him. :)

Quiet residential street, relaxed setting

The house was an ideal choice for our research team and we agreed we'd all be happy to bring our families here too. Four comfortable bedrooms with excellent beds and a well-equipped kitchen were key to our stay. It was a short run (5 minutes max) to downtown Portland, our conference venue and the waterfront. We really appreciated the quiet setting for our meetings and to rest. We weren't looking for stylish decor but for functionality and this fit the bill perfectly. Reliable internet was also key for us and it worked just great. Nice neighbourhood to go for a walk.
