Quaint cabin on the Shenandoah

  • 5 of 5

Amazing cabin - perfect for a weekend get-away.

Fishing in the river within walking distance.

Kitchen was great to prep meals in - and the family room area was great for games and movies late at night. The hot tub was a blessing after a long day of hiking.

Cara and Bill are gracious hosts, and we hope to be back!

Perfect location if you want to enjoy nature without interruptions

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has a wonderful location, with river access a short walk away. Raft, kayak, and canoe rentals are less than a mile down the road. You can't use your mobile phones, and there's no Internet connection: these factors are either a plus or a minus, depending on your perspective. For us, it meant forcing our kids away from their screens, which was a big plus.

We enjoyed the layout of the cabin, which isn't huge but still seemed open and airy. We had six people, but it didn't seem crowded. All of the fixtures, appliances, and amenities worked properly, and we used them all (hot tub, grill, horseshoes, oven, stove top, etc.) I would definitely recommend it for families or anyone who wants to relax near the Shenandoah.

As charming as the pictures make it seem!

  • 5 of 5

Just as I shared in the title, this cabin is exactly what you would expect from seeing the photos. The property is shared with another cabin, no issue whatsoever. There is more than enough space to still feel secluded, private, and to fulfill your expectations. Actually it's wonderful to know in case you would have a bigger group!

Very cozy, homey, and overall snuggled in feeling for this cabin. The kitchen is perfect for cooking whatever you need, nice and cool for the summer. I would assume extra cozy when the winter/cooler months come around. We will definitely be back!

An easy 10/10

  • 5 of 5

My sister-in-law, my wife, our two children and I rented the place for a couple of days, and I can honestly say that it was the best vacation decision we have made in a while.

The first thing we noticed when entering the cabin was how clean and neat it looked. My wife is a clean freak so for her to comment on the cleanliness of the place was a huge thumbs up for the owners. We knew from the pictures on the website that the place was absolutely gorgeous. The choice of art deco fit right in with the themes of nature and adventure. The whole place came together beautifully and really sold the idea of an escape to the wilderness, while still feeling warm and very, very comfortable. The bedrooms were decent sizes and ours had a great view on the private backyard. You do have to bring your own linens but that is what we were planning to do anyway. The bathroom had natural stone tiles, which my wife absolutely adored. Overall, on the comfort and ambiance, I would easily give this cabin a 10/10.

While the cabin looked great inside, we actually spent most of our time having fun outside. The backyard was spacious and very private. If I would suggest something, buy some wood, bring some marshmallow and chocolate and make a fire. My kids had the time of their life building the fire and enjoying the the family time. There is a barbecue grill on the patio as well that I wish we could have used. There is a Jacuzzi and it is awesome! Once the kids went to bed, my wife and I lit some candles and enjoyed some romantic time together soaking in the hot tub. The river access is literally few meters down the trail. We went fishing and had a blast.

I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone. Cara and Bill, the owners are some of the nicest people you can meet. They answered all of our questions and did everything to allow us to have an enjoyable time. My only issue was not having enough time to enjoy the cabin as we should have. We will definitely be back.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved this sweet cabin. The owners were very nice and answered any questions we had very quickly, and even let us use their fishing poles during our stay so my kids could fish off the river. I would highly highly recommend this place to anyone with or without kids. I think the highlight of our stay was every morning and night we had 2 deer walking around the cabin which my kids thought was the coolest thing ever!! I would say the only down side was the bedrooms didn't have tvs in the rooms which made my kids a little anxious when they went to bed in new place, but they survived.

Overall this place was such a cute cabin and the campfire we had was perfect and atmosphere was just perfect. We especially liked the no WiFi, it was nice to unplug for a couple days.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. Bill and I love hearing that we helped in some way to make your stay more enjoyable. Especially our little guest! We will continue to make upgrades to make your stay more enjoyable. We have considered putting TV's in both bedrooms and most likely Hopefully you will return and we will have that pond next door full of fish for your kids. Thanks Again Cara and Bill

They will scam you for your "refundable" $100!!!!

  • 1 of 5

We were charged $100 for damage that we did not cause. The owner claimed we caused a hole in the drywall and "black stuff" on the sofa. However, when we arrived, I noticed them both but figured the owner was already aware. The hot tub had an extremely high level of chlorine which caused extremely uncomfortable skin irritation and faded our bathing suits. There was no oil in the tiki torches and the grill only had enough propane for one meal. We also had to bring it to their attention that we were already charged for the firewood and if could bring it to us. The kitchen had many ants in it also.

The owner has ripped us off for $100. If you chose to risk staying here, be sure you take video of everything prior to bring your belongings in so that don't scam $100 from you too!!!
