There's no place in the world like the charm and haunt of southern Appalachia. Our cozy cottage is tucked away in the heart of the Clinch Mountains but offers all the amenities of home with its modern rustic interiors. Nestled beneath a 2,000 foot ridge and overlooking a fresh water spring fed two-acre pond, it's the perfect getaway from the hustle of normal life.
The pond is stocked year round with blue gill, small mouth bass, and Koie and the property is located on Sweet Creek and near the Clinch River. The cottage will sleep six comfortably, has a wrap around porch, updated interiors, and is a unique remote getaway. It would be the perfect getaway for writers or fly fisherman or a romantic secluded getaway for an anniversary, as well as a great family vacation spot.
There are two bedroom and a bathroom downstairs and a loft and full bath upstairs with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and central heat and air.
We purchased the land in 2002 and then spent a year designing the fresh water pond. After the damn was constructed, Hurricane Ivan filled the pond and we began construction on the cottage. It was finished in 2005.
owner/property manager purchased this cottage in 2002
The property was amazing. We had a peaceful time.
Could use a dresser in the bedrooms since the closets aren't useable.
We had a fantastic time at this cabin. My kids, dogs, husband and I couldn't stay out of the water. Between boating, fishing and swimming we had a blast. The house is very well furnished, and when we asked the owner about something missing, she immediately remedied the situation.
Our only issue, and I mean ONLY, because everything else was fantastic, was that the washing machine was broken upon our arrival and we weren't told that beforehand. It would have been helpful because we had planned on having one.
Also, follow the owners directions, not your GPS, unless you have 4-wheel drive and like to climb over rutty mountains.
We've already talked about coming back, and my mother-in-law kept saying how much she would love to live in a place just like this cabin. I'm so sad our time there had to end.
The home was perfect, private lake was a blast for the whole family. I would definitely recommend written directions, or a detailed map to find the location, but once your there the remote location is well worth it.
We absolutely loved our time at this secluded lake house. Our family needed time away from work and phones to reconnect and recharge over the 4th holiday. This was the perfect place. We were even able to take our fur baby. We swam and fished every day. My teens loved the paddle boat too. The inside of the house is clean and well appointed. The beds are super comfortable. We loved the wrap around porch too for coffee and drinks. There are 2 porch swings too. Country living at its best. Highly recommended!! We hope to return.
My family of 4 and furry one stayed at this house over the 4th holiday. It was just what we needed. Quiet time away as a family. I was a little worried that my teens would freak out being so far out in the boonies. But they loved having their parents 100% attention. We swam in the lake, fished in the lake, the kids loved the paddleboat. Watched movies. Cooked (bring your own food its too far to drive to go out). Read books. Even the dog loved being able to just run around and be free. There is a creek to explore. The home is beautiful inside too. The beds so comfortable. Kitchen well equipped. I highly recommend it. Edye was easy to work with and we hope to return. (secretly, I'd love to go by myself too...it was just that relaxing.) Thanks for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!
This property was PERFECT for us! We needed a cabin that would accommodate 6 people and a medium size dog. This cozy mountain cottage was big enough for all of us to sleep and had plenty of room on the property for our dog to run and explore. My favorite part was our morning coffee on the front porch, overlooking the pond. The owner of the property went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant. From her emails to her personal touches at the cabin - Edie provided us with a very positive experience! And as an added surprise, she had snacks/goodies waiting for us when we arrived! I would definitely recommend staying at this property.
