What Makes our Lakefront Home so Scenic
Whether you wake and catch a glimpse from the bedroom window of the glowing morning fog rolling across the water, or enjoy a romantic evening on the spacious porch overlooking the lake as the sunsets, this picturesque private lake provides a stunning setting.
We loved this. My husband and I brought their two teenage daughters and they each brought a friend (total of 6 of us). We stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the lake, rowboat, raft and canoe. On the first day we spent most of the time at the house and then took a short outing to Bash Bish Falls, walking down to the Falls on the MA side as it is a little steeper. We'd been told that the "no swimming" signs were often ignored, so 3 of the 6 of us plunged into the icy water. The others enjoyed the sight and scrambling along the banks of the falls.
On the second day we did the Catamount Aerial Ropes Course. Fantastic, and tiring ....
Irene and her son were very friendly and showed us everything we needed to know, including how to disconnect the WiFi before the kids realized it was available, which I loved. If you want to do that, it's good idea to give them a heads up before you arrive. Had fun teaching the kids how to work a record player. We ate all meals in because it was so lovely to just be there.
We will definitely come back if we're able and will stay here. Lots of things to explore in this area.
We loved the setting and found the house very comfortable in all respects. We would have preferred that the vegetation in the back be cleared to allow swim access to the lake from the house dock. It was absolutely delightful to sit on the back deck admiring the lake and enjoying breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
We had a lovely time at this lakeside house. Right on the water, facing a small lake filled with birds, water lilies, and other wildlife. Quite, peaceful, close to farms and orchards. Close enough to larger towns to shop and get your gourmet coffee fix. Had a great time in a lovely home, hand-built by its owner. The 15-year-old pined for wi-fi, but it was a small pining.
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this waterfront home. We were working with our horse at "A Horsedrawn Affair" which ended up only being a short 15 minute drive. This place turned out to be a perfect spot to stay and enjoy our afternoons and evenings.
The camp was clean and well kept and nicely situated on a little lake with no motorboats or jet skis, so it was very quiet. The place is older decor (charming retro) and well equiped with a full kitchen and barbecue grill and everything needed other than food and drinks. We enjoyed the canoe (there's also a rowboat but we didn't get time for that). We brought our own fishing gear and caught several fish in a few hours; one bass was big enough to keep and have for breakfast the next morning!
We really enjoyed the stereo and record albums dating back to the 60's, 70's, and a few 80's. Nice to listen to Sinatra in the evening with dinner. There were also lots of VHS movies and games to keep you occupied if the weather didn't cooperate.
The immediate waterfront was blossoming lilypads, but with a few strokes of the canoe paddle, we were out beyond them and onto a swim raft where we could swim in the clean water and get some sun.
The master had a queen bed; the other bedroom had 2 twins and I think several people could comfortably sleep on the couches in the big living room. The air conditioning kept it nice and cool and dry throughout the house.
Groceries and liquor store were available about 20-30 minutes away, so there's a little planning needed for those items (HIllsdale or Pine Plains).
We would definitely stay again and recommend it to others!
We had a wonderful stay over the Fourth of July. George was very responsive with our questions ahead of check in and was flexible with both our arrival and departure times. The home was in tip top shape -- the beds were incredibly comfortable!!! The deck was just perfect for enjoying the summer weather- we enjoyed soaking up the sun, playing card games and dining all from the deck! The floating dock was quite an enjoyable way to soak up the sun or look at the stars.
We had a wonderful time and would look forward to staying here again.
I loved the feel and vibe of this property, itS very clean and spacious. Everything you need and more is there! I forgot few things such as scewers and they had it! The hose is full if character and the decks are great! Indoor porch helped at night a LOT to keep the bugs out and still enjoy your dinners. Boats were very nice abd comfortable and we had so much fun just being out on the lake and for fisherman out there the place has some VERY nice trophy Bass!!! And plenty of them too.. Great experience with the property as well as the owner was very pleasant and helpful and made the experienxe seamless
