About Doug Beard

My name is Doug and my wife is Susan. We moved to the lake in 2010 and absolutely love it here. We purchased this home in November of 2014 and after spending the winter remodeling we are now ready for visitors. We love this area and how accessible it is to the water.

Doug Beard purchased this house in 2014

Why Doug Beard chose Oklahoma

This home is the perfect vacation stop for family gatherings, weekend retreats, or for the serious tournament fisherman. We have plenty of room on the property for parking vehicles and water craft. This property is easy to access by paved roads. The neighborhood is great and you have a beautiful view of the lake. We chose Lake Ft. Gibson for its great fishing. We also love the fact that this lake has less boat traffic than some of the other lakes in this area. That makes it perfect for taking the kids out tubing, wake boarding or just anchoring the boat and letting them play in the water. The newly purchased and remodeled Cypress Cove Marina is close by and offers boat slip rental daily, weekly and monthly. They also have a café that serves lunch and dinner. If you don't have a boat the nearby park has pavilions, picnic tables and grills, play ground equipment, a basketball court, a backstop for baseball or softball games, nature paths, and a designated swim beach.

What makes this house unique

We initially came to Ft. Gibson Lake to camp and enjoy boating and fishing. We enjoyed our weekends here so much that we decided to purchase a home here. We love the relaxing atmosphere of living on the lake. There's just nothing like enjoying that morning cup of coffee and watching the sun rise over the lake. You may even catch a glimpse of a doe and her baby passing by. We are far enough from city lights that the stars are beautifully visible at night. Come and enjoy the uniqueness of this beautiful getaway. You'll be glad you did!

Pictures didn't do it justice

  • 5 of 5

We were in Muskogee to visit my son who is in college there. This home was a perfect option, the craftsman ship throughout the house was very well done. We were able to BBQ both nights we were there and the kitchen had everything we needed to have a great Easter dinner Sunday. The home owner Doug helped us get firewood so we could use the fire pit in the back yard, which was nice to enjoy along with the lake view from the back patio. We are planning our next trip this summer so we can enjoy the lake also. The two living areas made it really nice, so we could watch basketball while my daughter was able to control her own TV choices. Highly recommend this property if you are looking for a vacation near the lake.

Thank you again Doug for the hospitality.

Sweet escape

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our get-away weekend. The cabin is very comfortable and truly is charming. Our only let down was the lack of direct lake access but we just journeyed down the road a few miles and enjoyed some fishing. Highly recommend it for a couple or for a whole family.

Absolutely perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

Extremely clean and charming lake house, the pictures do not do it justice! The property is comfortable and inviting; you immediately feel like you're at home. I met with Doug, the owner, on Friday morning as I was headed to the store. He is a very kind man and told me if I had any concerns, to please let him know immediately. He went so far as to text me the day of our arrival to make sure we found the property without any issues. I highly recommend this property and we will be back whenever we have the chance!
