About Darcie Sly
I'm a mom of two great kids, a realtor and a decorator who lives in Saint Louis. It has always been a dream of mine to own a lake house. When I found this sweet little log cabin, I couldn't resist buying it. I filled it with everything I love and try to spend as much time there as I can. It has always brought me a lot of joy to share my cabin with my friends and family. About a year ago, I decided to share it beyond my circle of family and friends and offer it for rent to others. I love reading the reviews that people write in my guest book. My fiance' and I recently bought another cabin across the lake from this one and we had a lot of fun fixing it up! That cabin will accommodate larger groups (up to 10) and it has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Check out listing 113150 if you want to check it out.

Why Darcie Sly chose Pacific
I love this property for so many reasons, but the reason that I bought it was because it was close enough to St Louis, where I live full-time, that I could actually envision really getting to use the cabin even when my kid's schedules and clients keep me busy. I love the location of the cabin on this little lake. It's very near the spillway, so if the lake is high enough, it creates a little waterfall that can be heard from my cabin, especially after a heavy rain. I love that the kitchen still has the original metal cabinets and the old sink. It leaks a little but I kind of think that's part of the charm! I grew up in a small town in Iowa. I love that my cabin is part of the rural communities of Pacific and Eureka, where people aren't too busy to chat with you. I wanted to give my kids a little slice of the kind of life I had when I was growing up in Iowa. I have been able to give them some incredible memories because of this little cabin: Easter Egg hunts by the lake, swimming off the dock in the middle of the lake on a hot summer day, opening Christmas presents by our little tree with a toasty fire in the fireplace, watching movies on our projector while we all snuggle up on the pull-out sofa, catching turtles by the waterfall, fishing off the dock. I've made lots of amazing memories out here with my friends, too: making margaritas in my little kitchen, kayaking with my friend out on the lake, girls weekends with bbq, music and roasting marshmallows in front of the fire pit.
What makes this Cabin unique
It's really quiet out here. You may sleep better here than anywhere else in the world! Bull frogs, crickets and hoot owls will lull you to sleep. Have your morning coffee out on the dock while you watch the ducks float by. I've included many vintage touches throughout the cabin: old quilts, hand-hooked rugs, English stoneware dishes, old photographs. In fact, there is an entire wall in the kitchen which is made up of vintage paint-by-number paintings. I want my guests to feel like they're transported to an era where things were slower and people took the time to watch a sunrise or just listen to the sounds of nature. I've also made sure to include modern amenities like wi-fi, a projector, Roku and an automatic coffee maker.

Relaxing but could use some TLC
It is very reminiscent of my youth and going to the cabin. Everything was fine but needs some TLC.
6 days Takakwitha
It was a great escape from civilization without going to far out of the way. Once I got comfortable my visit was worth it.
Thank you Mark! I'm so glad you were able to relax in our country lake cabin! Hope you can come again sometime!
Great place to stay for a couple guests

Perfect Lakeside Retreat
This house is amazing. The owner thought of everything and it was these thoughtful touches that made a great house and great location a perfect long weekend away. Driving into the property is like leaving civilization behind and yet we loved how easy it was to get everywhere. We spent a day at the caves and another at Six Flags but the best memories were made hanging out at the house kayaking, fishing (nice sized blue gills), grilling, having fires outside and snuggling up to watch a movie in our own private theatre with a bed!
This was our 2nd stay at this lovely little cabin. And will plan to stay here again. Darcie is very easy to work with.
The cabin is located only 10 min away from Six Flags Amusement Park. We are about 20 minutes from Purina Farms in Grey Stone, Mo.
We are 25 mins away from Kirkwood, Mo which is a really cute town that boasts one of the best kid's museums in the country, The Magic House. Kirkwood has a Mayberry feel to it with a cute downtown featuring lots of great shops and restaurants.
It's about a 35 minute drive to just about anything you'd want to do in Saint Louis: The world class Zoo is located in Forest Park which was recently voted the best city park in the U.S.! It's really gorgeous and packed with lots of fun and FREE activities!
Busch Stadium is about 40 mins away if you want to take in a Cardinals game. Scott Trade Center is in the same vicinity, as is the Peabody Opera House--both are great venues to catch a concert.
It's a very pretty, very relaxing drive from the Cabin to the city and I find it to be very enjoyable as long as you aren't trying to commute to and from the city during rush hour. Even during rush hour, it's not as bad as what some cities experience.
