Southole Barns are beautifully situated at the top of a south facing valley in a designated Coastal Preservation Area & Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Barns sit within a peaceful & secluded setting & enjoy amazing views over the surrounding countryside.

The South West Coastal Path is within 150 meters, providing uninterrupted cliff top & coastal walks along it's rugged coastline, renowned for its dramatic scenery and breathtaking sea views & shipwrecks . It's also close to many stunning & secluded sandy & rock-pool beaches.

The Barns are a courtyard of former Victorian Monastery buildings that have been beautifully converted to a very high standard over the past 3 years, to form 4 exclusive & unique self catering properties.

The courtyard is laid to cobbled & slate, with beautiful raised flower beds, including Fig & Ornamental Artichoke and new for 2014 a beautiful LA hot tub, sitting within 4 acres of gardens & meadow land with a charming stream fed pond.

Greenway Barn is our premium west facing property, elegantly converted to a two storey upside down spacious barn. The master bedroom has a beautiful & grand Four Poster Double Bed, plus a second twin bedroom and shower room all make up the ground floor. Both bedrooms have views over the adjoining farmland .

Stairs lead from the entrance hall up to a large open plan, family orientated, living, dining and kitchen area (with dishwasher), with views over adjoining farmland. A beamed ceiling, brand new wood burning stove, wide screen television, wood flooring throughout, plus built in security stair gate and a stable door to a small sunny fenced garden.

(Sleep: 4 / also able to accommodate a baby) Baby cot, highchair & bath available on request.

We are Lydia and Chris along with our two children Maisy and Rufus. We have owned these wonderful barns for the past 3 years and just love the peace and tranquility this part of Devon provides. It's a far cry from our previous careers in the wine industry....but we still get to enjoy that side of it with a glass or two watching the sun go down of the cliffs....it's a hard life !

We would love to welcome you to come and experience our very special part of the Devon/Cornwall coastline

Erholungsurlaub in der Greenway barn

Wir waren zu dritt in der Woche vom 06.08. - 13.08.2011 bei Allison und Seldon. Es war ein herzlicher Empfang nach all den km, die man von Deutschland aus zurückgelegt hatte. Die schöne Ferienwohnung entschädigte aber auch sofort für die Strapazen. Seldon erklärte alles, was wir wissen mußten. Wenn mal ein kleinerer Defekt auftrat (Glühlampe) wurde das in wenigen Minuten repariert. Viele gute Tips erhielten wir ebenfalls, um die Umgebung zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrzeug kennenzulernen. Broschüren und eine DVD liegen zusätzlich aus. Neben den schon häufiger hier beschriebenen Klippenwanderwegen (sehr empfehlenswert) gibt es natürlich auch kleine Dörfchen, die man besuchen kann oder auf dem Atlantic-Highway nach Süden auch Strände. Uns hat ein anderer Strand beeindruckt: Im Norden ca. 50 km bei Braunton Burrows befinden sich riesige Dünenlandschaften mit kostenlosem Parkplatz. Hat man die Dünen überwunden und es ist Ebbe braucht man schon etwas, um bis zum Meer zu kommen. Aber zurück zu den Barns und den Vermietern: Die Beschreibung der Häuser und die Fotos hier im Netz sind vollkommen korrekt. Allison und Seldon sind absolut sympathische Menschen mit denen nette Gespräche geführt wurden. Alles in allem: voll empfehlenswert.

Sehr schönes Domizil

14 Tage waren wir - 2 Erwachsene, 2 Kinder - zu Gast in der Greenway Barn. Die Ferienwohnung ist geräumig und mit Stil und Geschmack eingerichtet, der Innenhof und der Communal Garden sind sehr schön gestaltet und laden zum Verweilen ein. Die Klippen und den Coastal Path kann man zu Fuß in weniger als 10 Minuten erreichen, Zum Baden im Meer empfiehlt sich Bude mit seinem großen Sandstrand samt Lifeguards und Naturpool. Auch Hartland Quay sollte man unbedingt besuchen, auch dort lässt sich vor spektakulärer Felskulisse bestens im Meer baden.

A wonderful time in Southole

A big thank you, Allison and Seldon, for your friendly and warm welcome when we arrived at your Southole barns. After our long trip it made us immediately feel very comfortable in the Greenway barn. We only had one week time but we really enjoyed it. A few minutes walk up the hills rewarded us with a marvelous view on the spectacular coastline. We never saw such rock formations before.

Thank you also for all your help and the good advice about the nice places which we never would find in a tourist guide.

Seldon gave us a tour through the other three barns and all are furnished with a lot of taste and love for details. It's hard to say which one we would take the next time!

We really loved your quite and peaceful place.

Thank you Allison and Sheldon again for this great experience.

Wunderschoenes Haus mit toller Lage

Wir verbrachten sieben Tage in diesem wunderschoenem Haus und der tollen Umgebung! Das Haus ist modern moebliert und mit liebevollen Details eingerichtet. Wir fuehlten uns von richtig wohl. Auch der Vermieter gab uns von Anfang an das Gefuehl herzlich willkommen zu sein. Das Haus ist nur ca. 100 m von den Klippen und den Klippenwanderweg entfernt. Der Ausblick und der Weg ist sensationell. Auch der Sonnenuntergang im Meer ist ueberwaeltigend. Ausfluege zum Fischerdorf

Clovelly, zum Hartland Point, zum Exmoor und Dartmoor duerfen nicht versaeumt werden. In der nahegelegenden Stadt Bude, am Ortseingang, gibt es einen riesigen Supermarkt sowie eine günstige Tankstelle.

Southole Barns are located in the small hamlet of Southole within the Parish of Hartland and 1 1/2 miles from unspoilt Welcombe Mouth Beach. The village of Welcombe is less than 1 mile away with its Church, Village Hall, Pottery, our Community Shop and a Thatched Public House 'The Old Smithy Inn' which is well known for good food within the area.

The Barns are 3 miles from the A39 (Atlantic Highway) which gives easy access to the North Devon and Cornwall coastlines, to seaside resorts such as Bude, Widemouth Bay and legendary Tintagel as well as King Arthur's Castle. The picturesque fishing port of Padstow, home to Rick Stein's restaurant is also along this coast.
