This place is in the perfect location to experience the best of what the gulf coast of Florida has to offer. The house is located on a deep water canal just off the Steinhatchee River offering excellent opportunities for freshwater paddling, fishing and wildlife observation. We routinely see Bald Eagles, manatees, alligators, river otters, and a wide variety of bird life. Launch your kayak or canoe at Steinhatchee Falls just a few miles upstream on the river and enjoy a ride through some of the most amazing old Florida riverine habitat you can imagine. Bream and bass are common and fun fishing for both kids and adults.
Best of all the Gulf of Mexico and direct access to salt water fishing and scallops is only a short picturesque boat ride from our canal. You can put your boat in and tie up to the floating dock for easy deep water access to some of the best saltwater fishing on the Gulf coast. If you don’t have your own boat there are two well-equipped marinas just downstream that offer kayak and power boat rentals. When you come back from a day on the water, the fish cleaning station provides a convenient and easy way to prepare your catch for dinner.
The house has been completely remodeled on the inside including the kitchen, bath, and bedrooms. There are two bedrooms with double beds and nice foldout couch for a total sleeping capacity of 6 people. All bedding and linens are included. A fully equipped kitchen and dinner area for 6 people makes it enjoyable to cook up your catch and spent more time on the river. A huge porch on the back of the house faces the canal and offers a great view. The large propane grill is available on the porch for cooking up your fresh catch. Plan on spending some relaxing time out on the porch. Be sure to check out the “party lights” that provide a festive setting in the back yard in the evening.
Easy access to the house 1714 King Street is provided from Hwy 51; the main road leading into Steinhatchee from Hwy 98.
