At the crest of a gently winding road sits the Fire Hill House, a slate blue, post and beam home, luxuriously understated and lovely. Situated on 16 wooded and serene acres with stunning Catskill views, the Fire Hill House is newly renovated and ready to welcome you. It features a spacious, beautiful kitchen adjoining a great room with cathedral ceilings and a wood stove to keep you warm in winter. You can see the sunrise through one window and the moon set through another. Or you can see breathtaking sunsets over the Catskills from the wrap-around deck. Downstairs, the charming bedrooms and renovated bathrooms offer comfort, beauty, and privacy.
The Fire Hill House is located in the foothills of the Berkshires, close to Tanglewood, The Omega Institute, Kripalu, Great Barrington, Lenox, Stockbridge, Hudson, Rhinebeck and Chatham. Music, museums, theater, movies, hiking, kayaking, yoga, tennis, horseback riding, skiing, swimming holes and much more are all within easy reach. But if peace, quiet, solitude, and the beauty of nature are what you seek, the house has plenty of that as well.
Whether you want to have a drink on the deck, relax inside the lovely home, or enjoy the region’s many attractions, Fire Hill House has it all. Come and enjoy!
We had a lovely weekend at the house. It was a cold weekend, but the views from the windows were stunning and the two wood stoves kept us warm and cozy. The house was well-maintained with lots of comforts. The study of off the main bedroom is beautiful and well stocked with games. There are several comfortable places to read and relax. We took the beautiful little walk through the woods that is on the property and followed several of the owner's suggestions as to places to eat and things to do. Overall, a peaceful, rejuvenating retreat.
A couple of friends and I went up to this house for New Years Eve and it was AMAZING. The house is gorgeous, perfectly equipped for a group (two floors, bedrooms on the first floor, hanging out room and kitchen on the second), multiple bathrooms, an amazing kitchen, multiple porches with great views, the list goes on and on. We had such an amazing time and plan on booking the house again in the future. Thank you to the owners for purchasing such a nice house and keeping it so clean and ready for renters.
Our family had a great stay over Thanksgiving. Beautiful kitchen, outdoor porches (too cold to use much though during this season), and living area. The owners were very friendly, welcoming us with local cheeses and fruits. They also gave us a list of nearby places to visit, which we did - both in NY and MA.
We went grocery shopping in Chatam and used the kitchen and game room a lot. Felt very at home here.
A tip: Finding the house was a little bit difficult the first time for us because it was at night - would recommend arriving during day time if you can (before 5:30.)
Great set up and views which made for a fun family weekend getaway. Loved the charming towns for b'fast, lunch and dinner. Accommodating for our young kids too.
A beautiful home, wonderfully appointed. The views across the valley to the Catskills to the west were spectacular, especially at sunset. The outdoor deck, nicely equipped with a brand new (as of August 2015) gas grill and a dining table with parasol, was a perfect place to soak in the views with a sundowner followed by a lovely dinner of farm-fresh Upstate produce, procured from any number of charming farm stands nearby. The open plan kitchen was nicely equipped (except for the knives, which were frustratingly dull -- bring your own!), and the living area very comfortable and spacious. The three bedrooms downstairs were all very comfortable, easily accommodating two couples and up to two children/teenagers/adults in single beds. When we stayed, there was no access to the washer/dryer in the basement, which was not quite ideal when staying a full week with 2 couples and 2 young children. The lack of a/c, given the house's privileged perch atop a hill caressed by pleasant breezes, should not be an issue for the vast majority of the year, but there were a couple of unseasonably stifling August days while we were there that made us long for it, at least during the day.
Our home, sitting atop a gently winding hill, is very quiet and secluded with beautiful open vistas. We are 20 minutes from Tanglewood Music Shed in Lenox, 15 minutes from Chatham, less than 30 minutes from Hudson and Great Barrington, and less than an hour from Rhinebeck and Albany. Please review our guidebook for recommendations. We are foodies ourselves and hope you will enjoy our recommendations. Please note that there are many other places besides our recommendations, which are very heavily skewed towards Hudson where we live. Be adventurous and try. You will not go wrong at most places.
