I'm a single mom to a 5 yo boy. We travel a lot so i thought it would be worthwhile to post on vrbo when we are away. I am a retired anesthesiologist and now a stay-at-home mom and yes, being a mom is a lot more work than being a doctor. As a doctor, you get the next day or part of the next day off! A mom is on-call 24/7!
Wanda Zee-Cheng purchased this house in 2012
i left Los Angeles to raise my son close to family (in Fort Wayne and St. Louis) and also, because the cost of living is much more affordable in Fort Wayne. Since moving here, I have come to love the quietness and accessibility of this city. It's big enough to have most of the stores you need and small enough not to have the big headaches and traffic of the big city.
i bought this house because it was brand new, never lived in and was ready to go! It was an easy decision because it is 1 mile from my brother's house, 1.5 miles to the freeway, and only 2 miles to the hospital. :)
It is also in an established area of Fort Wayne...Southwest Allen county which has great public schools, but at the same time, it is a new edition with houses still being built. In fact, since I have moved in 3 years ago, 20-25 new houses have been built! It's a pretty neighborhood and being called The Fountain, you can see many fountains. :)
Since moving in 2012, I have installed a black aluminum fence, small playset, purchased a small toddler pool/slide, and had an Amish-built 1000' sf 2-level 2-toned composite deck installed in the backyard. I also planted a pear, peach, and a couple of apple (Fuji/honeycrisp) trees. Lastly, I have 2 large garden boxes of produce in the backyard that I will try to maintain, even when I am away. My backyard faces east, so the backyard provides a great place for outside entertaining in the late afternoon/evening when the weather cooperates. :)
Since I have a 2-level deck, the bottom deck always stays cool even when it is hot. I am especially happy with the backyard. it is truly a fun place to entertain while keeping a decent amount of privacy.
My one sister and her husband, my baby sister, husband and two kids, my mom and me and my husband went to a wedding at the Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I wanted a place where we could all be together and have a mini reunion since we all live in different states. Wanda's house was the perfect place to stay. Lots of room and everyone had a place to sleep. The neighborhood was safe and very quiet. The location was good, it only took us 15 minutes to get to the theatre. Shopping was close by and it was easy to get around. Wanda was helpful in recommending a restaurant and helpful in dealing with how things worked in her home. If your looking for space this is the place to rent.
This house worked well for our group of 8. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, and it is 15 minutes from the airport. The kitchen was outfitted with enough items which allowed us to prepare a few breakfasts as well. Overall, a success! The house was clean and ready for our stay. The owner does have a dog, so naturally there might be hair or dander about. Just something to be aware of if anyone has allergies.
We had a wonderful stay in Fort Wayne. There was plenty of room for our family get together. The owner was very attentive to our needs and was easy to work with.
This was the perfect home for us. We brought a team of 9 people to a conference in Fort Wayne and were able to stay comfortably in this home. The owner, Wanda, was easily accessible through email. She answered all my questions, gave clear instructions and was friendly and gracious in all our communications.
The home is large, spacious and absolutely beautiful. The neighborhood was a quiet friendly suburb. My wife and I went for a long walk and everyone we encountered were very friendly.
I would highly recommend this home to anyone particularly those with a large group.
Wanda (the owner) was fantastic and the rental house was clean, just as pictured and beautiful. The location is great with easy access to the highway and to restaurants and shopping. My family of 5 had a blast and were able to enjoy visiting my family in town and relax at the house. We will definitely be back the next time we go to visit my family in Indiana! Thanks Wanda!
