Only 12 minutes from the Historic township of Mariposa, This home has a loft, Gorgeous top of the line kitchen, Pantry, laundry , Master suite with King bed, and private bath, . . Back yard, Exterior motion detector lighting, Peaceful Oaks is about a 42 mile drive to Yosemite; go through Mariposa and down the breathtaking Briceburg canyon that winds along a river on the 140. The perfect home for your retreat or getaway...You'll look forward to coming home to this retreat after a day in Yosemite, or Historic Mariposa. It features a gas fire pit, TV, Books, Wifi, a fully functional kitchen. Nearby Mariposa and other historic towns like Coulterville, Hornitos, Bear Valley, the Mariposa Museum, and the State Mineral Exhibit are fun to explore. In the summer the town is alive with tourists, weekend 'Music on the Green' featuring local artists in a lovely park setting, occasional open air movies on the park lawn. A fun time to visit is in the spring, when the falls in Yosemite are running. Mariposa has it's butterfly festival, and parade (usually the first weekend in May.) The poppies in the Briceburg canyon are breath-taking. Fall is also wonderful; Starting with the Labor Day Parade and old fashioned Mariposa County Fair. I love the colors that come with the changing of the leaves, and the crisp air. Winter is great, especially if we have a few snows! The Mariposa Christmas parade is usually the first weekend in December, as is the annual Christmas Craft fair. Yosemite offers some fun activities at the Ahwanee, as well as ice skating, and skiing in the village, or it's always fun to drive there to see the Lord's majestic Creation. It's also fun to just relax at Peaceful Oaks Cottage... away from the city, Hit a volleyball around in the back yard, play a game of pool, BBQ, or watch for deer, wild turkeys, coyote, bob cat, quail,& rabbits, while you enjoy a good book...
Roast marshmallows around our gas fire pit, or hang out under the stars in our Hot tub. Nothing beats a family Christmas away from the city. Get away and remember what a simple quiet CHRISTmas is really all about. You can't beat the price... three bedrooms, a gathering room and a kitchen for the same price of one little stuffy hotel room. What do you have to lose?. ;)
We have WIFI, games, washer/dryer, refrigerator, coffee maker, waffle maker, griddle, oven, toaster, crock pot, and many other conveniences.

I am a Christian mother of 7 and grandmother of 12. My husband proposed to me 41 years ago, and we are still very happily married. It has been a dream of mine for many years to host a vacation home. I have worked for other vacation homes and a Bed and Breakfast, and looked forward to the day that I could buy my own.
Victoria Trujillo purchased this house in 1999
We fell in love with Peaceful Oaks Cottage, long before it went up for sale. I love the simple driveway to the 140 (no long dirt roads to get lost on), the history of the area, and the pretty home. I thank the Lord for placing it in our care.
We spent a couple days here with our grandchildren. When we walked in the house, we felt right at home. The kids enjoyed the pool table, the bunk beds, the hammock, s'mores on the fire pit, and the big girls loved the upstairs loft. My husband and I found everything we needed in the kitchen. The master bedroom was comfy with a great bed. We found the owner of the house to be very accommodating. We would recommend this home for a relaxing time with your family near the historic town of Mariposa and we hope to visit again and stay longer.
It's a great spacious place to stay with everything you need and even more! We stayed 1 night and really wished we could stay longer. Nicely decorated and equipped. Nice small surprises from the host made our stay even more enjoyable. There's enough place for 3 families with kids. We will definitely keep the place in mind for future vacations. Thank you, Victoria! Everything was awesome!
We drove up from the San Francisco peninsula, and then proceeded to drive around the area all day, which was our plan. But, boy were we tired by the end. I think it was around 105F that day. What a wonderful feeling we got when we opened the door to this lovely home on a pretty lonely stretch of highway. It was relief, followed by happiness, and finally comfort and relaxation. Our two kids were very excited to explore and find lots of nice things to play with, and very fun room to sleep (eventually). We adults also loved everything we found. Everything listed in the description was there, and it was very nicely maintained. Really, we couldn't want anything more from our stay. Thank you for providing such a lovely place, and for making it very easy to access. We will definitely come back on a future visit. Thanks again!
Peaceful Oaks is a great cottage for people who want to get away from it all and recharge. The property itself is charming not to mention the entirely upgraded interior. My kids had a blast playing pool and foos ball. The kitchen is upgraded with all of the appliances (small & large) that you could ask for.
Victoria and her husband were always available if the need arose. This is a great location for those wanting to trek into Yosemite from the south western entrance (arch rock). You can also shoot over to the southern entrance (Wawona). Bass Lake is about a 45 minute drive as well and offers a ton of water sport activities.
All in all we can't wait to get back next spring!
All the best,
David Townsend & Family
Very clean and inviting. Great notes about the house and area for newcomers. Loved all of the outdoor seating areas. Great toys for our 2 year old daughter to play with that were provided. Kitchen utensils and appliances made it easy to cook our own meals. Such a nice house and nice people! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Peaceful Oaks to anyone looking for a family friendly home close to Yosemite and the Sierras!
