|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Cupcake Cottage is a one bedroom converted barn on 4 acres of rolling Catskills land. The house has an open loft-like feel, with the bedroom upstairs, and downstairs has the kitchen, bathroom, and living and dining areas. Guests are welcomed to harvest from the vegetable garden, which provides goodness all summer long. The kitchen is fully equipped with every tool a chef could want, and the house is comfortable and private. A well selected record collection awaits, and wifi too.
The cottage is available for two nights rentals during the winter months. Otherwise, April-January, a three night stay is required.
I'm a portrait photographer and spend my time going back and forth between Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, and Cupcake Cottage in Roxbury, NY. I've been renting the house out to weekend visitors for a few years now, and love sharing my little slice of paradise with some very happy guests.
Peter Ross purchased this house in 2004
Cupcake Cottage was built as a small barn in 1838, and sits on a steep hill way up high. The house fills with light when the sun sets directly across the far valley, and it's completely magical. It feels entirely secluded and peaceful, but is still a short drive to groceries, restaurants, and area attractions. The best of all worlds.
There is a hammock under an old apple tree, a fire pit in the meadow, and the kitchen is well stocked with basic pantry items and cooking tools. There is a charcoal grill and a wood burning stove for winter heat. A vintage KLH record player and lp collection awaits, and a modern Bose speaker to output ipods and similar devices. Wifi, and an Apple TV with Netflix and HBO etc.
The cupcake cottage was perfect for our weekend getaway and communication with Pete was easy. The house was super clean and equipped with all the essentials, especially in the kitchen. Our favorite features were the wood stove and record player (and Pete's collections of vinyls). We'd book again in a heart beat. Thanks Pete!
Cupcake cottage is magic, and Peter is a wonderful host. The property and view of the mountains are stunning, and there's a beautiful vegetable garden full of delicious goodies in season.
Peter's record collection is vast--there's something for everyone, and everything sounds amazing on the vintage KLH record player.
The house is lovely and beautifully curated--the pictures do not do it
justice! Every detail (right down to the lighting) is perfect, there's a ton of really great art, and also a wonderful claw foot tub under a breezy window for long soaks. We can't wait to go back to this perfect haven and are so grateful to Peter for opening this special, unique space up to guests like us!
This place is exactly as it is represented in the listing. Which is my idea of perfection. Very private location up on the mountain overlooking a beautiful valley, yet close enough to a couple little towns for supplies, restaurants. There's an amazing garden, a stocked chef's kitchen and a comfortable, beautifully designed interior. Great lighting too. A lot of great vinyl and a wood burning stove make for a perfect way to spend an evening.
Bed is really comfortable and the window overlooking the valley is your headboard. So cool!
Peter is very available by phone and made every thing simple and easy with instructions where needed (wood stove, etc) I had a fantastic weekend and definitely recommend this place. I will be going back soon!

The property was perfectly groomed and absolutely adorable, from the front porch stacked with firewood and the porch swing to the garden blooming with goodness and the hammock tucked away in the shade at the bottom corner of the property. The inside of the cabin is adorned with unique art, a record collection along with a working record player. No worries if you forgot anything at home Peter has thought of everything, fully stocked kitchen and bathroom, instruction booklet on kitchen table with things to do in the area, how to use grill, heater and fireplaces along with instructions of how to close up the house before you leave. We felt as if someone invited us into their home instead of just being at a rental cabin for the weekend. I will recommend every couple I know to stay at this adorable romantic getaway in the Catskills. This cabin is perfect for any season.

I can't say enough about the amazing trip that I took to this paradise in the woods. From the friendly deers that greeted me and my dog upon arriving to the wonderful veggies that we picked and cooked, to my evening sorting through an amazing collection of records. This is a gem well worth the drive from the city in the fall (as well I am sure in the spring and summer).
Looking forward to my next trip!!!
Peter was incredibly accommodating and prepared us with a PDF in advance with how-to's, and where-to-eat info. When we arrived at his place it was like a haven on top of a hill. The pictures don't lie. It was truly paradise. Gorgeous views. Cute kitchen. Nice bedroom. Rustic wood beams in the ceiling. Exactly what we wanted.
