Spacious and well presented accommodation throughout to include a well appointed kitchen, living room with feature fireplace and three bedrooms, the master double bedroom having an ensuite shower room. Refurbished for 2010 with new kitchen and shower rooms.

Comfortable, cosy and well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were impressed as soon as we arrived. The cottage was spacious and easily accommodated 5 adults and a toddler. It was well equipped and maintained and lived up to expectations from the web site description. We were looked after well by owners in preparation for the visit and knew what was expected of us. We spent a lot of time running/walking along the coast easily accessing Penzance and Mousehole on foot.

Local pubs are welcoming and eating, if you like fish, is heaven!

Local shops provide fresh quality produce and we cooked a lot to enjoy this.

Best meal was in Newlyn in the Mackeral Sky seafood bar where you can choose dishes to share or eat alone, which are cooked to order. Good value and excellent food. Just go along and hope for a table, you can't book.

A great break for us, all went home happy!

lovely family accomodation

  • 5 of 5

We ranged from 5 months to 61 years of age (grandparents, mum and children) - the cottage was lovely - very convenient for everywhere we wanted to go and within walking distance of Penzance and Mousehole. We have been coming to Newlyn for 30 years and this is most certainly a cottage that we would return to. It was warm, comfortable with everything that we could have wanted and well equipped. Slight and very minor hiccup is the parking but was worth the slight hassle. Would highly recommend and will certainly be back

Tonkin's Cottage was perfect for exploring this part of Cornwall with Penzance and Mousehole within walking distance. The Cottage was thoughtfully modernised with a well equipped kitchen. A log burner made the cottage cosy in the evening and nearby local pubs were welcoming.

Great views of the harbour - we had a really relaxing week and are looking forward to going back.

Nice, quiet and peaceful cottage

  • 4 of 5

Tonkins cottage is a lovely old cottage in a small fishing village which is really ideally located for trips around southern Cornwall. The cottage it's self is well kitted out with 3 bedrooms, living area and dining area, well equipped kitchen and 2 shower rooms, which are small and compact. A couple of things didn't work but other than that we had a lovely stay and liked the quirkiness of the cottage with the kitchen downstairs! Might not be suitable for older people as stairs were narrow and steep but we had plenty of room for 7 of us, 1 child slept on the floor in blow up bed and the dog stayed in his pen in the kitchen. I would definitely go back.

Just back from a week at Tonkins Cottage and would go back tomorrow if i could. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing holiday complimented by fantastic views, friendly locals and some good pubs nearby. Parking was not a problem , its an easy walk to Mousehole and Penzance.

Another brilliant holiday

  • 4 of 5

We booked this cottage because it had all we needed for a good family holiday, it was in a good location,& is what the owners say it is.The ensuite room was perfect for my 67 year old mum who had no problems with the stairs(she walks with a stick). If you wanted to park your car & not drive the transport system is excellent, but we drove every where covering over 900 miles in two fabulous weeks. We like to get around & see cornwall & in the last 7 years we still find new things to see& do.The local pubs are good but book a taxi (only 5pound for four to the centre of Penzance ) or walk 20 mins.go to chapel street several pubs& resteruants to chose from, also the dolphin has good food.if you go over the little bridge in newlyn &round by the Rover garage theres a small white pub the Tolcarne with vgood cheap food &beer.

The only down sides are yes you cant always park rightoutside the cottage if you get back at late ,& the locals are a bit funny. But i only spent £12in two weeks to park when back late .

Also i think it would benifit from a tumble dryer for the towels but these are small things considered. we had a brilliant stay & dealing with the owners was a pleasure from start to finish they where very helpfull & we would go back again definately.
