Warm welcome to well equiped apartment
We had a very warm welcome to this apartment. Everything was explained and everything worked.
It is a great base for the area with plenty to do and see. Also only a two minute drive to a wide selection of shops and bars.
Superb small cozy house
We loved staying in this lovely house with its large terrace where we relaxed after a day of sightseeing. Comfortably modern furnished, very clean and well equipped, we enjoyed the heat of the pellet stove in the evening. The place is picturesque and quiet. We spoke with the neighbors who were very friendly and suggested some other places to visit nearby that were well worth it. We stayed for only three nights but could have stayed longer. Another time maybe!
The cottage is set in a small village less than 4 km from Alcobaça city. It is ideally located as a base to explore all the jewels of the Silver Coast of Portugal. An abundance of beautiful beaches, Natural Park, World Heritage sites and stunning scenery are all easily reached with a short car journey.
The Serra dos Candeeiros Natural Park is an ideal area to explore for those who enjoy walking & nature.
Nazaré is a picturesque seaside village. Located on the Atlantic coast, it has long sandy beaches (considered by some to be among the best beaches in Portugal), with lots of tourists in the summer. The town used to be known for its traditional costumes worn by the fishermen and their wives who wore a traditional headscarf and embroidered aprons over seven flannel skirts in different colours. These dresses can still occasionally be seen. Facing the sea on the right, you will see an impressive headland. This is Sítio, which provides one of the most famous views of the Portuguese coast. It is a 318 metre rock face with a sheer drop to the sea, and is reached on foot by the bravest, or by going up the funicular.
São Martinho do Porto is one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, a bay, shaped like a scallop, with calm waters and fine white sand.
In the Silver Coast region there are more UNESCO World Heritage sites than in any other part of the country. Three of Portugal’s seven architectural wonders can be found here. But don’t just come for the big ones. The best way to explore the richness and diversity of the cities and towns of the Silver Coast is to park your car and wander unhurried through the streets.
