Beautiful and spacious apartment (110 m2) with elevator in Kollwitz Strasse, the heart and prettiest street of Prenzlauer Berg - it doesn't get better!

Inside you find elegant decoration & comfort, high ceilings and space (+ very fast internet + Netflix), outside you find the cafés and restaurants, cobble stones and parks (and the famous market on Saturdays).

Public transport is 5 minutes away (Tram M2 at Prenzlauer Allee and S7 at Senefelderplatz).

It's where I live and work (I'm a writer), when I'm not doing so in Rotterdam, my other home. It therefore is not some impersonal apartment filled with cheap furniture, but you will find good furniture and nice art on the wall.

BEDDING There are two bedrooms. One with a -brand new!- large double, the other with two singles. There is a fifth bed, an real bed, but a bit smaller than a normal one (70 cm wide instead of 90 cm). Suitable for a child. Of course linnen and towels are provided.

BATHROOM The bathroom has a bath and shower. And hairdryer, soaps etc.

KITCHEN The kitchen is fully equipped. It has a breakfast table, a Nespresso coffee machine, herbs & spices and all other basics for cooking, in case you want to cook at home instead of eat in one of the many restaurants in my neighborhood.

LIVING ROOM The living room has a dining table, a comfortable sofa and chairs, a brand new 40 inch Smart TV (with Netflix, and more than 100 channels), and a well filled library in many languages.

I have been a VRBO-host since 2012 -with pleasure, and a lot of good reviews!- in Amsterdam/Rotterdam, before in 2015 I partly moved to Berlin.

My place is not fit for party people, I'm afraid! I'm a quiet person, respecting my neighbors, and I like guests to do the same!

Beautiful, large apartment with easy neighborhood access

Surprising to walk into such a large space! High ceilings give the home a grand sense of style. Updated kitchen and bath with plenty of room to relax after a long day of touring the city. Quiet neighborhood with lots of green space and local eateries to enjoy. A pleasure to work with the owner who was very accommodating.

A cut above the usual holiday let

We had a very nice stay in Mark’s apartment! First thing to say is it is exactly like the photos - with large rooms and high ceilings. It’s very comfortably furnished, as it’s Mark’s home, with a fully equipped kitchen that’s much better than a usual holiday let.

The location is unbeatable - so many excellent cafes and restaurants nearby, and convenient for public transport. However, we enjoyed the area so much, we barely left Prenzlaur Berg at all during our stay. Our favourite thing about the apartment location was having the Saturday market right outside and, with the smaller Thursday market, we did most of our grocery shopping there. In addition, there is a minimart and Lidl nearby.

Mark’s recommendations for restaurants and cafes are spot on - and we really appreciated the alternative flea market recommendation, we picked up a few lovely things there (and think we spotted a couple of stalls Mark had picked up furnishings for his apartment).

In addition, everything was very smoothly organised with booking and we were well looked after by Myriam at ‘check in’ - Mark even phoned from Holland to check that we’d arrived OK. Thoroughly recommended!

PERFECT apartment, PERFECT neighborhood, GRACIOUS host

I am familiar with Berlin, so when I saw this apartment listing in PzBerg, a picturesque neighborhood with a weekly Saturday street fair and some of the city's best restaurants and shopping, I couldn't believe my luck. It's really a perfect location if you're looking for the Berlin to show off to first-comers. Lots of playgrounds and places for children to play as well.

The apartment itself is even prettier than the pictures, if that's possible. So much light, and you're surrounded by leafy trees. The ceilings are super high, the furniture is comfortable, and everything is in excellent condition. There is an elevator if you need it, but it's just a few flights of stairs up. The beds are comfortable, the wifi is strong, and the water heat & pressure is good.

Finally, the host. Mark is a total gem! I reserved the apartment way in advance and then needed to change my dates. The HomeAway website made it difficult, but he was willing to work with me very flexibly. He met us in person and showed us everything we needed to know. He was available to us via WhatsApp even when he was out of the country. Finally, I had a major mixup with the final night of our stay but was on a plane so unavailable to help him problem-solve, and he took care of everything. He could have been very difficult about the mixup, but he was gracious and smoothed everything out. Honestly, you won't find a better host.

We want to come back to Berlin and only stay at Mark's beautiful apartment.

Elegant, clean and spacious apartment situated on a charming tree-lined-street!

This is by far one of the nicest apartments we have rented. The owner was extremely helpful and provided detailed information on everything from restaurants to transportation to maps and guidebooks. The apartment was clean and well appointed with plenty of linens, towels, and toiletries. The kitchen was well stocked with every possible appliance you could need, including a washer, dryer and dishwasher. As a family of five, we really appreciated being able to do laundry midway through our vacation. The apartment is beautiful with its bright hardwood floors, high ceilings and tall windows! The neighborhood is also wonderful and quiet. The charming cobblestone sidewalks, tree-lined streets, neighborhood parks, and outdoor cafes made us feel like we were at home rather than tourists. Everything is convenient, within walking distance, including the U-Bahn, bike rentals, bakeries and a grocery store. Really can’t say enough good things about this place! We will definitely go back.

Clean, light and perfectly located!

Great place. Location can't be better when you want to explore Berlin (public transport very nearby, lots of restaurants in the neighborhood). We -a family of 4- enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment is light, spacious, clean and comfortable.

Space, Peace and Comfort in Prenzlauer Berg

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay in Mark's spacious apartment in Kollwitzstrasse, Prenzlauer Berg in mid-August. Before our trip, Mark sent us excellent information about the apartment and clear directions to find it and we arrived whilst the famous Kollwitzplatz Saturday market was in full flow right outside. The apartment's central location was fantastic - 5 minutes walk to the tram, and just four easy stops to Alexanderplatz - and it was close enough to the centre of the city to be able to pop back "home" when we were feeling tired from sightseeing. The two bedrooms were comfortable and the main living room was a peaceful space to sit and read. The apartment is on the second floor and sits high above the street amidst the trees, so there is very little traffic noise. Our two teenage daughters loved the WiFi and my husband and I enjoyed the lofty ceilings and quiet charm of the apartment which offered us everything we needed for a great family stay - so much more personal and relaxed than a hotel. The simple kitchen enabled us to cook some easy meals for ourselves and there was a useful supermarket just across the road. There were also numerous cafes and restaurants in the pretty cobbled streets and squares which make up this historic area of Berlin, and on Mark's recommendation we tried several and particularly enjoyed the cakes at Anna Blume just up the street!

Berlin is a fascinating city, and the public transport is easy to use and always on time. We opted for a Berlin Welcome Card when we arrived at the airport, which allowed us to hop on and off buses, trams, trains and the U Bahn whenever we wanted during our stay and also gave discounted entry into some of the city's excellent museums and attractions. We had pre-booked a free tour of the Reichstag Dome, which was a great way to start the holiday as the views across the city are magnificent. We also enjoyed visits to the Berlin Wall Museum, the Berliner Dom, DDR Museum, Topographie des Terrors and Schloss and Park Sanssouci at Potsdam and for classical music enthusiasts, the quirky Musikinstrumenten Museum close to the Berlin Philharmonie is a real delight.

Thank you Mark for allowing us to stay in your comfortable apartment - five days was not long enough to absorb all that Berlin has to offer and we would love to return to your spacious and peaceful home!
