Trullo Fedelle - beautifully restored traditional Puglian trullo with pool

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,045 sq. ft.
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 4 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms trullo, sleeps 6

Make your stay at Trullo Fedelle even more memorable. We can arrange for a chef to come to the trullo, or how about a wine expert coming to the trullo for a wine tasting session (no driving involved!). Also we can arrange vineyard visits, meals with locals, guided tours plus much more, view our website or contact us for more details.

Trullo Fedelle is a spacious traditional trullo that has taken us over a year to lovingly restore and fully modernise, without losing any of its rustic appeal and character.

Featured in The Sunday Times Travel pages, 3rd Feb 2008. '....Trullo Fedelle is a lovely example, with charm oozing out of its bare stone walls and, thanks to a sensitive conversion, stylish modern fittings. It’s set in five acres of olive groves, and there are vines, figs and nut trees – help yourself, the owners say. Stylish restaurants around, too. Sleeping six in three bedrooms'.

Set in a rural location with 5 acres of land, Trullo Fedelle is the perfect place to forget the pressures of modern life, some of the best restaurants in Puglia; Medieval white-washed towns; and glorious sandy beaches are a short distance away.

Great for a budget break with cheap family run restaurants serving fab food and wine close by. The trullo has three bedrooms (two doubles and a twin); a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with large wooden dining table and double doors that open out to a pergola with seating and dining area and impressive views of the land; a 9m x 5m swimming pool; a large comfortable sitting room; two modern en-suite bathrooms; gas central heating;and a large natural garden – not forgetting bundles of rustic charm.

It's a great natural garden to explore – there are over a hundred olive trees and vines as well as many fruit and nut trees that you are welcome to help yourself to, if in season. Trulli are magical buildings with vaulted ceilings, stunning internal stonework and dramatic arches.

We have managed to retain these impressive structural features at the same time transforming the house into a comfortable home with modern facilities.

About The Owner

As a family we bought this property in 2005.

Why The Owner chose Brindisi area

Set in a tranquil, rural location in 5 acres of land, Trullo Fedelle is the perfect place to wind down and relax. The sensitively restored trullo is surrounded by olive trees as well as fig, cherry, quince, pomegranate, plum, walnut and almond trees, and you are welcome to help yourself to whatever is in season

What makes this villa unique

The trullo is located in the famous Val d’Itria and is perfectly placed to explore the cultural diversity of Puglia. The historical town of Ceglie Messapica is 5km away. This ‘centre of gastronomy’ is home to some of the best restaurants in Puglia as well as a weekly market (Saturday), artisan shops selling homemade pasta, bread and pastries, fresh meat, fish and local delicacies and convenient supermarkets. Nearby is the white city of Ostuni as well as the picturesque towns of Cisternino, Martina Franca and, of course, Alberobello the ‘city of trullos’. The glorious sandy beaches of the Adriatic and Ionian coasts are also not far.

Excellent holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had not been to this part of Italy before, but after this holiday we'll be back. Trullo Fedelle is wonderful, full of character and charm. We had a lovely time just hanging out at the house and really relaxing - not really done this before on holiday! We had the chef over to cook one night which was brilliant. Highly recommended.

This is a perfect getaway holiday home. We spent 3 weeks with our 7 year old. The house is surrounded by substantial land in broad terraces full with olive trees, prickly pears, plums, grapes and other things we couldn't identify. Although only 5 minutes drive from Ceglie, where we found supermarket and chemist and anything else we needed, the house feels away from it all and the night skies were spectacular. We spent much time at the nearby Banana Club to swim, eat, play cage football and get ice-creams, snacks and drinks from the bar. The trullo rooms were cool even in the hottest sun and the house was equipped with most everything we needed. We had guests coming to stay for a few days and the house was never crowded or fussy. An interesting and relaxing place to stay.

I would like to say that we had a great time at Trullo Fedelle, but we actually had a fantastic time! We took the offer of having a chef come to cook at the house together with a wine expert to talk us through the various wines from Puglia, and I have to say that it was well worth it, great food and absolutly wonderful wine to wash it down with, in a word brilliant. I cannot recommend this trullo enough, we're definatly going back-thank you for one of the most memorable holidays we've ever had.

Nice relaxing stay

  • 4 of 5

Staying here really felt like staying in someon's home. The trulli has been beautifully restored inside and it was lovely to have lots of CDs, DVDs and books that one could borrow. The outside area could have done with a bit of a spruce up though. There was a beautiful outdoor oven that we couldn't use as it was full of rubbish so there was nowhere for us to grill. It was also a shame that all the outdoor furniture had to be stored indoors in the living room as their was no lockable shed outside. Those are minor complaints though as the house is in a beautiful bit of Italy and there are some fantastic blue flag beaches about a 20 minute drive away. Ceglie Messapica itself had some lovely restaurants but for really cracking meals, try Ostuni.

Trullo Fedelle

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in August 2009 - Although we live in Italy, we hadn't yet been to Puglia, so having the full, rural Trullo experience, and in such a beautiful part of the province, was a wonderful experience. Trullo Fedelle has clearly been renovated with sympathy and care, and the gardens are great for exploring - and picking delicious figs! The Trullo cones ensure that the property in never overheated and we were more comfortable here than in our modern house in Rome! Going for a run in the evenings along the quiet backroads was one of the highlights, and meeting a sheperd and his flock was always a pleasant surprise! Ceglie is deceptively large and requires much more exploring, as does the whole region, and we will be returning this year.

Belle expérience!

  • 3 of 5

Trullo Fedelle is a peaceful relaxing retreat but for those also wishing to experience traditional southern Italian life, there is much to see and do in the surrounding area that will appeal to all ages. New 9m x 5m swimming pool for 2015!

Beaches are about 30–40 minutes drive away to the Adriatic coast. Our favourite are Torre Guaceto and Costa Merlata with it's beautiful curved bay and beach-side restaurant serving fresh fish and barbecued meats. You'll find coves that are perfect for snorkelling as well as long stretches of golden sandy beaches along the coast. The Ionian coast is also within easy drive.

The local town of Ceglie Messapica is 5 minutes drive away with its charming whitewashed houses and winding cobbled streets.
