Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Lucerne

Enjoy your stay in Thermopolis at this new construction, 3 bedroom 2 bath home. The Big Horn river is one of the best fisheries in the state, and you have access to it right outside your doors. On any given morning it is the norm to see pheasants or deer walking by, along with many different species of waterfowl enjoying the waters of the river. Easy access to the town of Thermopolis, which offers a world class dinosaur museum, and two commercial swimming pools where you can enjoy the water from the natural mineral hot springs. Boysen reservoir is 30min away, while the scenic town of Cody, and Yellowstone Park are within a 2 hour drive. The Riverview Guesthouse is great if you are in town to fish, hunt, explore the local area, or for a base while making day trips. Our intent with this guesthouse is to help people engage more with each other and their surroundings, while getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The location is ideal to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, and board games are provided if weather keeps you indoors.

About Sherman Skelton

Growing up my family ranched in the area, and we farmed on the hay fields around the vacation property. I am very familiar with the area and am more than happy to give any input on additional things to do or see during your stay in Thermopolis.

Why Sherman Skelton chose Wyoming

My great grandparents farm house was right across the road from the vacation property. I am the fourth generation to own this property, and had always dreamt of building something near the river. It was a dream come true when I broke ground on "the cabin" in the spring of 2013. The project was made even more rewarding by the fact that I was able to build the house with the help of my father, and under the watchful eyes of my 2 year old son. I truly wanted this to be a multi generational project. I worked 4 days a week in Casper, and then drove to Thermopolis and worked on the house every Fri-Sun for the next two years. There are still some projects to to on the property, but we have really enjoyed sharing our place with people from around the country.

House worked great for our antelope hunt in the Thermopolis area. Sherman was a very gracious host and did everything possible to make our stay fantastic. Riverfront location with fire pit is great.

Great house in a great location

Our group enjoyed being out of town yet close to Thermopolis. The evenings by the fire after fishing were fantastic! Owner very responsive to any requests or issues.

Relaxing and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This property provided a very welcome, completely relaxing vacation. The owner is, without question, the most responsive and helpful property owner encountered on HomeAway. Dark nights and pleasant days watching the wildlife on and around the Big Horn were worth their weight in gold. The property has everything you need to be comfortable from linens to cooking utensils. This all without mentioning the mating pair of Great Blue Herons which flew over the river-facing upper deck morning and evening commuting from nesting to feeding. The sound they make flying is embedded in my brain now and I'll recognize it anywhere. The small deer herd and horses on the island next door also provided just what we needed to completely relax. The proximity to Thermopolis, with its hot springs and fabulous Dinosaur Museum is great but not so close as to be intrusive. It's a day trip from the house to Red Lodge, MT and the Beartooth Highway over to Cooke City, MT (NE entrance to Yellowstone), that Charles Kuralt referred to as "the most beautiful drive in America". I can't disagree. We will definitely make this property one of our repeating destinations.

Northern Idaho

A good place where family can meet and stay.

The owner is professional, flexible and responsive. The fold-out sandbox was a hit with our twins, and 7 year old, and everyone enjoyed the firepit. My only complaint is that the grass along the river needed to be brush hogged.

This was the perfect vacation rental for our family. Both inside and out, the house and property were clean, well kept, and ideal for a family with children. The house had all the amenities we needed to live comfortably, without being cluttered. The home was perfectly clean, from fresh sharp linens on the beds, to well maintained carpets and hardwood floors. The bedrooms were spacious, immaculate and comfortable. The had a luxury feel while still feeling family friendly and practical. The outdoor fire pit was stocked with wood and fire side seating (it would have been great to have roasting skewers though!) The sandbox and horse shoe rings were amazing extra's that we did not expect. The location is serene, right on the river, and in a quiet locale. Sherman was helpful to the 9, and we had everything we could have needed and more. We would definitely stay there again.

We had a family weekend in thermopolis stay at the property. The communication with Sherman leading up to the stay was clear and questions we had were answered quickly and concisely. The property itself is very nice. Clean and functional. We caught some fish while we were there. It was neat having the river so near. Overall great experience. Thanks for everything g Sherman!
