Overview

About the property

Enjoy your stay in Thermopolis at this newer construction, 3 bedroom 2 bath home. The Big Horn river is one of the best fisheries in the state, and you have access to it right outside your doors. On any given morning it is the norm to see pheasants or deer walking by, along with many different species of waterfowl enjoying the waters of the river. Easy access to the town of Thermopolis, which offers a world class dinosaur museum, and two commercial swimming pools where you can enjoy the water from the natural mineral hot springs. Boysen reservoir is 30min away, while the scenic town of Cody, and Yellowstone Park are within a 2 hour drive. The Riverview Guesthouse is great if you are in town to fish, hunt, explore the local area, or for a base while making day trips. Presently, we do not have a TV or wifi, and our intent with this guesthouse is to help people engage more with each other and their surroundings, while getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The location is ideal to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, and board games are provided if weather keeps you indoors. The trout fishing along this stretch of the river is very good with both public and private access to the river. This location allows nearly 6,000 feet of public fishing access along the river bank downstream from the house, and almost 2,000 feet of private river access upstream.

About Sherman Skelton

Growing up my family ranched in the area, and we farmed on the hay fields around the vacation property. I am very familiar with the area and am more than happy to give any input on additional things to do or see during your stay in Thermopolis.

Why Sherman Skelton chose Wyoming

My great grandparents farm house was right across the road from the vacation property. I am the fourth generation to own this property, and had always dreamt of building something near the river. It was a dream come true when I broke ground on "the cabin" in the spring of 2013. The project was made even more rewarding by the fact that I was able to build the house with the help of my father, and under the watchful eyes of my 2 year old son. I truly wanted this to be a multi generational project. I worked 4 days a week in Casper, and then drove to Thermopolis and worked on the house every Fri-Sun for the next two years. There are still some projects to to on the property, but we have really enjoyed sharing our place with people from around the country.

Great place for a family get away!

The house was clean & had everything we needed. The setting is great with a nice yard, perfect for the many games of corn hole that we played.

Quiet, Relaxing, Clean

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here after a string of eventful and tiring days at Yellowstone. It was nice to be able to relax and unwind for a few days. The house was clean, with cute decor, and it is one of the most well-stocked houses we have ever rented. Our kids loved the board games and fire pit. Overall, we had a wonderful time at the Riverview Guest House.

Absolutely loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Nice place to stay. Very quiet and minutes away from some outdoor fun! Big thanks to Sherman and his dad for accommodating our disabled child....that alone deserves 10 stars! The home is very homey....we even enjoyed a few days of just laying around the house! Will be recommending this place to friends and family!

Simply wonderful place with everything needed for our stay.

  • 5 of 5

Super clean, neat and smartly decorated country cabin/home. We loved everything about it. Sherman was excellent with providing information about the lodging, river/fishing and Thermopolis. We should have just stayed and enjoyed the property more and gone into town less. We highly recommend this place.

Nice place, well kept and clean with adequate space for 6 adults and 3 little kids.

  • 5 of 5

The river was high which was completely out of anyone's control so that limited some of our water activities but nonetheless, the yard was great for yard games and the little boys loved the sandbox. It was a great opportunity for our little family to kick back and enjoy each other's company. It was easy to find and the entire process was smoothly executed. The host communicated well especially about the river situation-we appreciated that.
