Enjoy your stay in Thermopolis at this newer construction, 3 bedroom 2 bath home. The Big Horn river is one of the best fisheries in the state, and you have access to it right outside your doors. On any given morning it is the norm to see pheasants or deer walking by, along with many different species of waterfowl enjoying the waters of the river. Easy access to the town of Thermopolis, which offers a world class dinosaur museum, and two commercial swimming pools where you can enjoy the water from the natural mineral hot springs. Boysen reservoir is 30min away, while the scenic town of Cody, and Yellowstone Park are within a 2 hour drive. The Riverview Guesthouse is great if you are in town to fish, hunt, explore the local area, or for a base while making day trips. Presently, we do not have a TV or wifi, and our intent with this guesthouse is to help people engage more with each other and their surroundings, while getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The location is ideal to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, and board games are provided if weather keeps you indoors. The trout fishing along this stretch of the river is very good with both public and private access to the river. This location allows nearly 6,000 feet of public fishing access along the river bank downstream from the house, and almost 2,000 feet of private river access upstream.

About Sherman Skelton
Growing up my family ranched in the area, and we farmed on the hay fields around the vacation property. I am very familiar with the area and am more than happy to give any input on additional things to do or see during your stay in Thermopolis.
Why Sherman Skelton chose Lucerne
My great grandparents farm house was right across the road from the vacation property. I am the fourth generation to own this property, and had always dreamt of building something near the river. It was a dream come true when I broke ground on "the cabin" in the spring of 2013. The project was made even more rewarding by the fact that I was able to build the house with the help of my father, and under the watchful eyes of my 2 year old son. I truly wanted this to be a multi generational project. I worked 4 days a week in Casper, and then drove to Thermopolis and worked on the house every Fri-Sun for the next two years. There are still some projects to to on the property, but we have really enjoyed sharing our place with people from around the country.

Perfect house for a family vacation
Our family of 5 adults and 2 kids had a terrific vacation while staying here. The house accommodated us all easily while we had a long weekend in Thermopolis. The view out back of the Big Horn River was lovely, we enjoyed it every night while at the fire pit. Horseshoes and a sand box were added bonuses for the kids, though after full days at the dinosaur museum and Star Plunge we all tended to just relax. The petroglyphs at Legend Rock were well worth the beautiful drive there. Along the way we saw antelope herds and many pheasant.
Great base camp for a fishing trip!!!!!
This was our second visit here. Absolutely love the area. Pheasants, Cranes, Deer and Geese for neighbors. Perfect set up for our annual fishing trip and could not ask for a better setting. Hoping the fishing gets better on the Big Horn because we can't wait to come back.
The property is great and only steps from the river.
Very enjoyable stay.
Unplug from the online world
This home is a perfect getaway from the crazy world of technology overload we face today. Don't panic there is still cell phone reception but no TV. A very nice home with an absolutely incredible river setting. Great opportunity to enjoy family and friends and get back to what is really important in life, conversation around the table without distractions. Would highly recommend and look forward to our next trip.
This is a magical property. The house itself is adorable and very homey with all the necessities to do anything you need. What we love the most was the landscape around it and we went for a walk and we enjoyed eating dinner by the fire and sitting by the river. We will come back for sure and Sherman was the greatest host.
Thank you for the very kind words. We would love to have you back in the future, and hopefully have a little luck with fishing. Thanks again for choosing to stay at our place.
Clean, good communication, natural setting and overall lovely.
The kids loved the kid’s room. We had everything we needed for a lovely getaway from the grind. Thank you, Sherman.
