Overview

About the property

Enjoy your stay in Thermopolis at this newer construction, 3 bedroom 2 bath home. The Big Horn river is one of the best fisheries in the state, and you have access to it right outside your doors. On any given morning it is the norm to see pheasants or deer walking by, along with many different species of waterfowl enjoying the waters of the river. Easy access to the town of Thermopolis, which offers a world class dinosaur museum, and two commercial swimming pools where you can enjoy the water from the natural mineral hot springs. Boysen reservoir is 30min away, while the scenic town of Cody, and Yellowstone Park are within a 2 hour drive. The Riverview Guesthouse is great if you are in town to fish, hunt, explore the local area, or for a base while making day trips. Presently, we do not have a TV or wifi, and our intent with this guesthouse is to help people engage more with each other and their surroundings, while getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The location is ideal to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, and board games are provided if weather keeps you indoors. The trout fishing along this stretch of the river is very good with both public and private access to the river. This location allows nearly 6,000 feet of public fishing access along the river bank downstream from the house, and almost 2,000 feet of private river access upstream.

About Sherman Skelton

Growing up my family ranched in the area, and we farmed on the hay fields around the vacation property. I am very familiar with the area and am more than happy to give any input on additional things to do or see during your stay in Thermopolis.

Why Sherman Skelton chose Lucerne

My great grandparents farm house was right across the road from the vacation property. I am the fourth generation to own this property, and had always dreamt of building something near the river. It was a dream come true when I broke ground on "the cabin" in the spring of 2013. The project was made even more rewarding by the fact that I was able to build the house with the help of my father, and under the watchful eyes of my 2 year old son. I truly wanted this to be a multi generational project. I worked 4 days a week in Casper, and then drove to Thermopolis and worked on the house every Fri-Sun for the next two years. There are still some projects to to on the property, but we have really enjoyed sharing our place with people from around the country.

Great property on the Big Horn river

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much, this was our second time at this property. Much better than staying at a hotel.

Excellent-we recommend :)

  • 5 of 5

This guest house is a gem that suited our needs well. We had 7 ladies plus an infant for a weekend ladies’ retreat. Some of features we enjoyed were : house had mostly single beds, which worked well for our group

having a bathroom both upstairs & downstairs

Fishing from river bank

fire pit in the back yard

Well appointed (coffeemaker, linen/lawn & patio furniture, games). The back yard has a patio, fire pit and a short path that leads to the river.

The house is just a few minutes out of Thermopolis, and we took some time to soak in the hot springs there.

The guest house was very clean and welcoming, and affordable.

Our host, Sherman, responded promptly to all our questions in advance and we knew just what to expect. We definitely recommend this guest house.

Cozy home in spectacular location

  • 5 of 5

My brother and friend plan a fall fly fishing trip to Wyoming every year. This was our second trip to Thermopolis but our first use of a VRBO property in this location. Beautiful spot literally steps away from the Bighorn River with both private and public fishing access right out the back door. The house is cozy and a great spot to return to after a long day of fishing. Sherman was a great host. If you are looking for a location that gives you access to fishing the Wind, Bighorn, Greybull and North Fork of the Shoshone rivers look no further than this property.

Excellent place!

  • 5 of 5

The home is situated in the alfalfa fields next to the Big Horn River. It is what Wyoming is about. Surrounded by hard working oeople that are extremely nice. We stayed there for a hunting trip and it's location and accommodations suited our party just fine. One thing to note, if your coming with buddies and there are more than 5 of you think about bringing a cot for the extra guys. There are couches but they are in the common area.

All in all a fantastic stay. Your host Sherman was very accommodating and quick to respond to an A/C issue we had during our stay. We will be back!!!
