About the property

4BR/2BA Lewes Beach Landmark Beach House - Walk to Beach/Shops/Restaurants

Please take the time to read through our entire description below, which might answer some questions you may have

Enjoy your summer vacation in 2017 in this beloved Lewes Landmark home, with Hawaiian tropical ambiance and decor, and situated within prime barefoot strolling distance (2 blocks!) from Lewes Beach! Leisurely evening walks into town for fine dining, antique and boutique shopping, the Saturday morning market, perhaps a canal fishing expedition...Lewes is filled with fun things for the entire family to enjoy!

This 1907 home has been off the rental market since since last summer, but is now newly listed, with renovations galore, just in time for the 2017 rental season!

SURPRISES for our repeat renters! The past 8 months have been crazy with remodeling and updates, starting with a new roof! And this Spring, contractors are currently completing work - all new windows/doors, ceiling fans, a 6-ft privacy fence, a gorgeous deck with a non-splintering composite surface, and finally...TA-DA...we've installed a driveway with easy-on-your-feet Delaware River rock! We hope to have the exterior painting completed by June as well.

Your group will enjoy a refreshing, eclectic Hawaiian decor and appreciate the two floors to spread out in, including a spacious living room, separate dining room, huge kitchen, four bedrooms, two full baths, fun tropical furnishings and Hawaiian souvenirs, and a half-wrap covered porch with picnic tables (ideal for Maryland Blue Crab feasts or a cool lemonade on a summer night).

The house was built in 1907 and while much of the character has been retained from the post-Victorian era (note the transoms above each upstairs bedroom door, each filled with vintage souvenirs of Hawaii), modern amenities will make your trip a comfortable one. New fridge/oven/washer/dryer and dishwasher for the 2015-16 season, WiFi and cable TV access (2 televisions), and compact stereo. Original wood floors in living room and dining room, with carpeting in bedrooms.

We lived for years in Hawaii, and brought touches of the Islands home with us. Please keep in mind that before the arrival of the missionaries to the islands, the Hawaiian culture was a more natural and free spirited one, and some of the vintage artwork, postcards, and authentic pre-1950s souvenirs reflect the Hawaii of yesteryear.

After using a cleaning "service" for years, we became disappointed with the 20 minute in-and-out rushed cleaning their cleaning crews offered, and have hired a dedicated housekeeper who comes in after each guest and spends the entire afternoon before the next Guest's arrival, making sure things are up to our high standards. Our goal is to consistently provide our Guests with a comfortable, clean, and enjoyable time in our house.

Another location in our family of rentals is The Conch Bungalow, VRBO # 567599, in St. Augustine, Florida, and we invite you to view that listing as well, in case you're ever down that way!

If ever any questions, or for inquiries on availability, the quickest way to reach us is by phone. We do not use a rental service in the area, but both our housekeeper and handyman are minutes away if any need arises.

Mahalo for considering our home for your Lewes vacation, and we look.forward to your stay!

About Annette Vedsegaard-Ross

We're a military family, and "retired" young to the Tampa Bay area after the end of a successful Army career, whereupon hubby embarked on a second career, and is now a public school teacher . While we only get to visit Lewes occassionally, it remains a part of our hearts and history - camping trips to Cape Henlopen State Park, riding the Cape May-Lewes Ferry service, catching toads under the pine trees, playing "bunny count" games while driving down Cedar Street (with extra points when a fox or deer is spotted), walking to Kings Ice Cream in town for a late night cone any night of the week. We LOVE Lewes. And so will YOU!

Check out our other property - The Conch Bungalow in St. Augustine - VRBO property ID #567599!

Why Annette Vedsegaard-Ross chose Lewes

The house has only had one owner before ours - it belonged to the family of the respected town Fire Chief, who passed away several years ago. Built in 1907, several generations lived here until our purchase in 1997 while we were on vacation from our military assignment from Hawaii (yes, we came to vacation in Lewes while we were living in Hawaii!). Now, our family and friends have become an integral part of the home's history, and we intend to keep this lovely example of classic post-Victorian Lewes Beach architecture in our family for generations to come! Visit us, and you'll see why we love this grand old home.
