4BR/2BA Lewes Home, 2200 sqft, with Porch/Deck/Outdoor Shower/Grill/Driveway!

Enjoy your fall vacation in this Classic original Lewes Beach home with tropical ambiance and décor, situated within prime, barefoot strolling distance (just 2 blocks!) from Lewes Beach. Ready to host your family or friends, the house has 4 bedrooms, 2 baths (downstairs bedroom has private bath, upstairs has three bedrooms and one bath), comfortable living room, big kitchen, and separate dining room, spread through 2,200 square feet. House has WiFi, two televisions, and compact stereo, plus nice book library. Original wood floors on first floor with area rugs, and carpeting in bedrooms. All mattresses and box springs are new in spring of 2017, deluxe gel-foam core over individual coils, and new frames with high profile. Total make-over this past spring is drawing tons of positive compliments from our neighbors, with new windows and storm doors, shutters, paint, driveway, privacy fence, outdoor shower and more on the exterior, and inside new area rugs, ceiling fans, fresh paint, and other great upgrades.

The house has one of the largest fenced yards on Lewes Beach, and actually has TWO yards – a small side fenced yard for watching kids while enjoying a lemonade on the front porch (front porch has two small picnic tables, ideal for Maryland Blue Crab feasts!), plus a big rear yard fully enclosed by a 7-foot privacy fence, with propane gas grill, large deck, picnic table and umbrella, roomy outdoor shower, and a grassy area for sunning or play. While everyone on vacation wants to enjoy the many dining opportunities in the area, Guests will appreciate the large, well-equipped kitchen with all new appliances in 2016.

Great location, with a quick barefoot 2-block walk to the life-guarded public beach, or enjoy a short 3-block stroll to the canal, with its restaurants and charter fishing and sight-seeing cruises. Or, walk to the historic downtown just across the canal bridge and visit the many small boutiques and restaurants. Bike, or hop in your car, for a 1-mile drive down the bay to the Cape-May-Lewes Ferry (a 90 minute ride each way, and great for dolphin watching and just relaxing), or visit Cape Henlopen State Park and the many programs for kids and families alike.

For those Guests who do not want to carry their own towels and linens, we work with an excellent local small business that provides everything a vacationer might not want to pack the car with - from beach towels and bed linens, to bikes and beach chairs. Almost all of our Guests have been taking advantage of this service over the summer, and like the very reasonable fees and quality of the linens and towels. Guests just notify us 7 days in advance of arrival and we will put them in touch with the linen folks.

Our goal is to consistently provide our Guests with a comfortable, clean, and enjoyable time in our house. If you ever find anything amiss, please let us know promptly upon check-in so that we can try to remedy any problem. Similarly, we expect all Guests to treat the home and property as they would want their own to be treated. Simply because this is a vacation rental is no excuse for damage to occur or things to go missing, and we should be notified promptly if anything is damaged or lost from our home, rather than waiting for our housekeeper or us to discover something wrong. We're not the Motel 6 that has an endless supply - and budget - for damaged or stolen items. This is our private home - and we are entrusting it to the expected good care of our Guests.

PET POLICY: For dates after September 1, 2017, we will consider one dog under the following guidelines:

- Pet fee of $75.00 for up to 3 nights, $125.00 for up to 7 nights :

- Small (under 30 pounds)

- Well-behaved

- Over 1 year old

- Not on any list of dangerous or biting breeds/mixes, or breeds/mixes not good with children (given that Lewes Beach is a family zone).

- If designated as “mixed,” it will be at our sole discretion as to whether dog photo resembles prohibited breeds or mixes.

- Provide photo of dog prior to our accepting reservation

- Proof of inoculations/flea/tick preventative from veterinarian

- Acceptance of Pet Policy which outlines rules of conduct and includes statement that the animal has never bitten or otherwise attached a person or other animal and that no record is on file with any local or state municipality identifying the animal as dangerous or otherwise a nuisance.

- Certificate of Insurance issued by Guests's homeowner's or renter's policy (Certificate of Insurances are free to issue), covering address of our home for the duration of your stay and specifying that dog is covered under policy.* *NOTE: Most insurance policies that cover dogs will state that that they DO NOT cover a list of specific breeds,. This policy would cover any bites, scratches or damages to the property that are a result of the dog, after damage deposit utilized.

- Pet is not allowed free roam of the home and will be restricted to designated area inside the house, and kenneled in that area when Guest is not on property.

- Pet may not be left in yard unless an adult is present.

We have used the above guidelines successfully and our Guests's adherence has allowed our home to remain in very nice, clean, undamaged condition, and a welcome spot for everyone and not just pet owners. Unfortunately, there are some homes on Lewes Beach which allow pets, and the properties have furnishings that have been ruined, urine smells and stains throughout the house, etc because of non-compliant Guests. If you have questions, please ask first before reserving.

We're a military family, and "retired" young to the Tampa Bay area after the end of a successful Army career, whereupon hubby embarked on a second career, and is now a public school teacher . While we only get to visit Lewes occasionally, it remains a part of our hearts and history - camping trips to Cape Henlopen State Park, riding the Cape May-Lewes Ferry service, catching toads under the pine trees, playing "bunny count" games while driving down Cedar Street (with extra points when a fox or deer is spotted), walking to Kings Ice Cream in town for a late night cone any night of the week. We LOVE Lewes. And so will YOU!

Because our Lewes home is a new listing (we had taken it off market a year ago when we were considering selling it), it has not yet had an opportunity to build up reviews. Large house, close to the beach - some nice upgrades from last stay

We have visited the Hula House two times. The owner is great and the location can't be beat. We have been going to Lewes for several years and you cannot usually find a house within walking distance that has parking, a fenced in back yard, 4 bedrooms, huge deck, and as much charm as the hula house. We'll be back!

At time reservation is made, Guest is to email Owner with their name(s) as to appear on the Lease, home mailing address, home and cell hone, and email. Lease will then be prepared by Owner and sent to Guest as an email attachment. Guest may then sign electronically, or print/sign/scan and return.

We have been fortunate to have great Guests who enjoy their stay and help to take care of the house, and we've rarely had to use use the damage deposit. Guests remain responsible for any and all damages/losses that the $375.00 deposit does not cover, or that the damage policy will not cover. In addition to the actual cost of a damaged or lost item, the damage deposit will also be used to cover the time it takes to go purchase the new item, as well as the time to remedy items. For example, knots in our blind cords, attempting to remove any markings made by chalk/pen/pencil/etc, washing a Guests dishes, emptying the dishwasher of the Guests dishes, and trips to the store to replace items damaged.
