We live in Florida and have camped and hiked in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountain area for years, so it was only natural to find Connestee Falls the ideal location for a beautiful second home. No other area includes miles of hiking trails and a broad variety of amenities and activities. We share of love of the mountains and a desire to share our home with other within this very unique community.
Merrie M Wilner purchased this chalet in 1989
Treat yourself to private luxury surrounded by trees and wildlife in this cool mountain setting near the college town of Brevard, NC. Less than 45 minutes from the Ashville Airport, area is a real vacation find - an ecologically planned community, gated and well preserved. - summer hiking trails, BBQ on porch or at one of the nearby lakes. Swimming, golf, tennis, cycling, no end to activity or peaceful naps on the side porch. We desire the same for friends and travelers that share our love for the mountains in this unique setting.
This quiet, private getaway home was built on top of a hill, surrounded by trees. It has a fairly steep driveway and a spectacular, year round view. The kitchen area has just been renovated with all modern appliances, cabinets, and countertops, original wood burning fireplace remains extra source of heat downstairs. We have a steep driveway, a large variety of birds, and a family of turkeys on our next door lot, also wooded secluded.
Our family had an amazing stay at this mountain home. It was minutes away from charming Brevard as well as many beautiful waterfalls. The house was so comfortable. It was the most well stocked vacation house I've ever stayed in. The owner was great to work with and was readily available if needed.
We loved our time at this house! The bedding was soft and comfy and the space was great for a family of 6 - we loved that there were so many twin beds instead of full and queen beds. The screened porch was a great place to drink coffee in the morning and even though we were mainly "unplugged" we appreciated the wifi, cable and netflix for occasional use.
We absolutely loved our stay! The house was clean and very cozy! On the way in, our paperwork got done for less than 5 minutes and we were ready to go.
The layout of the house was great for us considering we were 3 couples. The view is amazing and we loved the big windows and the fireplace. The kitchen has everything we needed to be able to prepare and serve our meals as well. The beds were comfortable and it was spacious enough for the 6 of us plus our two dogs. The cabin was very private and surrounded by trees. We went hiking for most of the day on our second day and the trails were so many to choose from, we got some amazing pictures! Brevard city is only 15 minutes away for shopping needs and we also went horseback riding about 40 minutes away close to Whitewater Falls. There was no snow for New Years and the temperature dropped down to low 30s in the coldest day, but the gorgeous fireplace kept us pretty warm. Overall our stay was great and we are looking forward to staying there again soon!
Four of my girlfriends and I spent a long weekend at this lovely chalet-style cabin. The layout worked perfectly for us, as there were many places to gather: in the living room with that gorgeous wall of windows; on the side screened-in porch where we ended up eating most of our dinners by candlelight; and on the front deck where the beach chairs we brought to use by the lake served us well for reading. The house is surrounded by trees and it was so nice to hear all the sounds of the woods each evening. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all we needed to prepare our meals. The owner, Merrie, was very accomodating and responsive both before and during our stay when we had a few things that needed to be addressed - this we very much appreciated. While some things need a little updating (e.g., the porch furniture was showing it's age - though Merrie did say she was in the midst of ordering new porch furniture), we thought the house was quite comfortable. It did have a little bit of a musty smell, as some older homes do, but that did not bother any of us - once we settled in and turned on the A/C, it faded into the background. Overall, we'd give the house and the overall experience 4.5 stars (wish there was a way to show that in the VRBO "star rating"). Also, if you enjoy hiking there are some really gorgeous trails leading to several waterfalls in the Connestee Falls community - they are all private trails and (from what we understand) are created, cleared and maintained by Connestee Falls residents. Dupont State Park is also very close by with wide, well-groomed trails that also lead to several falls.
