Great holiday situated in a kingdom of Fife.

  • 5 of 5

The house is in a well appointed base, very easy to get to and find. It is a well kept house with every thing you need down to the toilet roll. We would recommend stopping there to any one. If you a bit unsteady on your feet the stair case could be a bit of a challenge, and getting used to going downstairs to bed. There are great views out of the lounge window, facing out to the Firth of Forth, and the Isle of May. Great stay.

Great place with stunning sea views

  • 5 of 5

Spotless and well-equipped, we felt right at home. The layout places the living accommodation on the first floor, accessible via a spiral staircase, giving stunning views over the bay at Pittenweem. Opening the french windows and looking out of the Juliet balcony on a sunny morning is a treat. The kitchen is well-featured with quality appliances and we cooked some tasty meals. There is a decent-sized tv and SKY package with wi-if, which was adequate in terms of speed. The bedrooms are a reasonable size and the beds were comfy. The bathrooms were spotless. Couldn't work out how to make the hot water hotter for the shower attached to the combi boiler (shower in the en-suite is electric), the temperature was only adequate, but the water pressure was ok. The rear yard is a sun trap with basic patio furniture that can be moved around to keep in the sun - we breakfasted there as we had great weather. There is a designated parking spot right outside the back gate - excellent! The village is only small and everything is within reach - v friendly people! Would say unsuitable for people with mobility issues because of the layout and the village itself has steep paths down to the harbour area. A great base for families wanting to explore Fife. We booked with Owners Direct and the smartphone app is great, providing info on the accommodation, and places to go during the week, as well as the mundane things like when the bin day is. One feature that could be improved is that on the last day of our stay, we found we couldn't go back and look at check in information, like the code for the keybox outside . Luckily the key fob had the code so we could get in to leave the keys. The booking information was excellent - Adrienne replied quickly via email. Kenny, who manages the property, was in touch to meet us when we landed and was very pleasant and helpful. We'll be back!

Fantastic property, stunning view from lounge, we loved it...didn't want to come home!

  • 5 of 5

We're just back from a wonderful week in South Gable in Pittenweem. The property itself was amazing, fantastic living space with beautiful views from the lounge window (we saw a pod of dolphins from the window one morning!) and super comfy beds and everything we needed was provided. Can not fault the property at all, we loved it! Pittenweem is a beautiful coastal village, this was our first time in the area and we will definitely be back. The kids had a great time...my 4 year old daughter wants to move to Pittenweem!! There is a great pub down at the harbour, The Larachmor, where we had dinner a couple of nights, staff were lovely, food delicious. And just along the road is the Ice Cream Shop where they sell Janetta's famous ice cream...without the queues that you get in St Andrews...we were frequent visitors! The weather was gorgeous when we were there so we spent a fair bit of time in Pittenweem on the small beach, exploring the rock pools, playing crazy golf, throwing stones in the sea. We visited St. Fillan's cave and the amazing Cocoa Tree Coffee shop, watched the boats in the harbour and the seals who came for a free lunch from the fish market! Pittenweem is a great base to see the rest of the area from. We visited St Andrews, Elie beach,Craigtoun Country Park, walked the coastal path to Anstruther...all in all a fabulous week and we can't wait to plan our next visit. Thank you South Gable!

Lovely, well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely time in this cottage in Pittenweem. It was comfortable, and had everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. The 3rd bed room only has room for bunk beds, so be warned, but that is quite clear from the description when you book. Very close to the Coastal Path and well equipped with crockery, glasses etc. Accessing the property was easy and I would recommend.

Beatiful and cosy cottage - a perfect escape

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a week over the Christmas holidays at South Gable and absolutely loved the house, the location (Pittenweem), the open plan layout (good for keeping an eye on the kids), the beautiful sunrise views over the sea and the very clear and quick replies from the owner on what the area has to offer!

If you are a keen golfer, St Andrews is a must see (only 20 min drive from Pittenweem) and I’d recommend doing the scenic drive via Crail to St Andrews. Also, if you are a whiskey enthusiast, I’d definitely recommend popping by Kingsbarns Distillery on route to St Andrews for a bit of whiskey tasting!

All in all – an excellent stay!

New Year in Pittenweem

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay over New Year. The house is beautiful and has everything you need for a perfect stay, will definitely be back. Just a small note for improvement, the entrance is at the back of the house and very dark, an outside light would be helpful, a torch is supplied but so dark we couldn't find it straight away, apart from that, a perfect stay.
